In the past hour my computer's started behaving really strangely...

A few of the keys have stopped working, including full stop ( ), hash, enter, and the arrow keys. The mouse has also started going all over the place, and it keeps pressing enter (even opening Firefox 11 times)

I suppose I'll have to have on-screen keyboard open all the time, but does anyone know what might be the problem? If so, thanks. The only thing I've downloaded or installed is the DoND PC game from the CD...

Could just be a hardware problem check the settings etc on Control Panel.

My friend, you have the my-computer's-started-behaving-really-strangely-A-few-of-the-keys-have-stopped-working-including-full-stop-hash-enter-and-the-arrow-keysThe-mouse-has-also-started-going-all-over-the-place-and-itkeeps-pressing-enter-even-opening-Fire-fox-11-times curse.

On a serious note, I personally can't help you mate but it is definitely a weird problem...

Like Tom Hanks and his football on that island in 'Cast Away', it looks like it's just me and the bots here now. But that's alright, we're having a grand old time. Aren't we, Wilson? WILSOOOON?!

A few of us who were once part of the furniture, once stalwarts of the grand and extravagant, exuberant and thriving forum, have receded back into the walls, still faintly visible, still here as poignant, reminding relics of an era gone by; but most of us have vanished, forever immersed in the mists of time.

I had a strange issue with my laptop's keyboard where sometimes I would accidentally press the CAPS key whilst typing and it would sometimes cause the whole keyboard to act strangely. :? Bizzarely... It's been ok since the CAPS lock key broke and I BluTacked it on!! I think it's because I have to press it harder now and can't accidentally press it, which is what seemed to upset it before...

I assume you've tried restarting? The first time my keyboard went funny, I turned off the password on my account, as I was worried that if there was a problem with the keyboard that wasn't solved by restarting, then I wouldn't be able to enter my password when Windows booted up... I actually found out that simply putting the computer into sleep or hibernate and then waking it again solved the problem...

Other things which I have known to cause problems are when you move the laptop from a cold to a warm place (e.g. if you get it out of a car and bring it indoors) - probably a condensation problem, and also the mouse has acted strangely if I've ever got a splash of drink on it...

I did restart and it made the "you're trying to type but I can't actually do that" noise several times. There wasn't too much of an issue entering the password though..

I accidentally knocked some tea onto it, but when I've done that in the past I've moved it away quickly, tidied up and it was fine..

How long has it been like this? The tea may not have dried out yet!

I knocked the tea onto it a couple of hours ago, but immediately wiped it up. At the moment the main problem seems to be that it's continuously pressing enter

Did most of the tea go near the enter key by any chance?!

Most of it spilled onto the desk, but yes, a small amount went on the right side of the keyboard...

It sounds like the tea is affecting it... the keys on the keyboard are of course buttons... so if liquid gets into them then it'll act as a conductor and cause the keys to effectively press by their own accord. I'm guessing the mouse problem is also due to the tea issue. It should dry up overnight though. It's tempting to try using a hairdryer or heater on it, but that may end up causing more problems...

No, mine's the touch pad on the laptop. The mouse seems to be getting better now anyway, although it's still pressing enter. Really irritating if you're trying to type....

If it's still doing this tomorrow, I'll go over to Maplin and see if I can get any compressed air for it, as there seems to be quite a bit of dust/hair under the keys
