All the good things got banned at my school. Pokemon cards, Crazybones, Yu-Gi-Oh cards... They even banned Bulldog.

haha, we had pokemon cards when i was in yr 3 and 4, although they, along with yu-gi-oh carsds, were banned solely because people were trading them in the toilets etc

I loved every episode of Jungle Run (whch is more '00s though)

Yu-Gi-Oh! cards can't count in this thread - they only started appearing in 2003.

But Pokemon cards - oh my gosh!

I remember how the most coveted card was the original Charizard card, because it was one of two Pokemon with a whopping 120HP, and it's attack did 100 damage at a time!!!

I had many other 'shinies', but never got hold of a Charizard!

i remember pogs and how at lunch time me and my mates would play for hours and one day me and my mate played a hundered each and had this massive stack and i won most of them cos i won the toss - but then he cried to the teacher and i had to give them back and because of that they were banned!!! well im gonna finish the last 50 or so pages of me harry potter book then ill be back on the forums at 9ish

The nineties were the best! (Well, I spent more than half of my life in the nineties, so I’m bound to think it’s great).

I couldn’t pin point the very best thing about the nineties as there were so many! From the poll I’d probably say ‘Then tuning straight over to BBC1 to catch the start of Noel's House Party’

In a nutshell, here are some of the things I loved about the nineties:

The music

Nineties music was ace. It was so much better than the crap you get on the charts nowadays. Typical bands from the nineties: Oasis, Blur, Spice Girls, Steps etc etc. But the best was when Shanice’s ‘I Love Your Smile’ came out in 1991. Man I love that song, I would have only been 2/3 at the time but it still rocked.

Game consoles

Another thing that came out in 1991 that rocked was ‘Sonic The Hedgehog’ on the Sega Megadrive. I was too young at the time to remember its release but I remember watching my eldest sister play on it one day and couldn’t wait to play. It was the first game I ever played on any game console so as you could imagine, it was exciting stuff! Then a couple of years later Sonic The Hedgehog 2 came out and I got it for Christmas the same year and played on it all day long, every day for about a week. I refused to put the controllers down until I had beaten Dr Robotnik once and for all.

To this very day I still play it whenever I get the chance, in my opinion, it was the best game ever created along side Toejam and Earl, Cool Spot and Bubsy.

And then came along the Playstation! Spyro The Dragon 1 and 2 has to be my favourite PS1 games of all time! Weekends were never dull when you had a Playstation to play on.

Television

Nothing beats Saturday morning TV and waking up to Live and Kicking with Zoe and Jamie was the best ever! And SM:TV with Cat, Ant and Dec!!! They made Saturday morning fun! Eat My Goal, Splattoon, Wonkey Donkey, Chums, PokéRap and Pokéfight, Dec Says, Kenan & Kel, Rugrats, Sabrina The Teenage Witch, CDUK the list could on and on!!

The telly in the evening was awesome as well! I remember watching Big Break, The Generation Game with Bruce and then Noel’s House Party with Mr Blobby! Televison just isn’t the same as it used to be. The only thing worth watching on telly on a Saturday evening now is a DOND Classic, Dr Who and Casuality, and even DOND and Dr Who aren’t on telly at the moment! No wonder people go out and get pissed instead!

Toys

Anyone remember Tamagotchis? I used to have a dog. They were banned in our school, but everyone still brought them in anyway and hid them under their shirts on a chain. We were such rebels!

Ahh life was so innocent and sweet back then...

Best things from the 90's?

There were some brilliant films that were in the 90's one of them that I remember was "Ghost" (I was supposed to be in bed but I snuck out and watched a repeat of it in 1996)

And Playstation, it was beating the ratings for all the other consoles at that time!

Music, I couldn't comment much but Dance was on the rise and Genesis *With Phil Collins* with the album "We Can't Dance" was my favourite album back then!

I love the sonic the hedgehog series!!

You used to wear those stick-on earrings.

You know the Macerena by heart.

I had one of those!! Or something similar.

I still have a mark on my living room ceiling from when I chucked it up in the air and it got stuck.

I had one too but I lost it behind my desk somewhere and I still havent found it yet!!!!

What about those alien thingies that 'grew up the longer you had them'?

And the Jar Jar sticky tongue things that you got free when you sent off coupons from Walkers crisps?

That was the only thing I sent off for, apart from the Star Wars Tazo album!

The best thing about the 90's is the fact that hammondstar was born in them.
