Some people believe that the the death penalty is as bad as the criminal. So you are killing a killer. Fair enough if you are taking a killer from the streets, but that makes you a killer, even if it is in the law.

I believe everyone should have the right of redemption. It is completely unacceptable for raping a child, however they need to give back to society and be treated with caution, but they are still human, not animals.

Like back a couple of decades, electric shock therapy was used to treat homosexuals because society believed it was wrong. Back then, fancying someone from the same sex was probably as outrageous as fancying a child, but the first is now accepted, so will the second ever be? From a psychological point of view, some people fancy grannies, some people fancy kids, some people fancy women, some people fancy men. There isn't a lot of difference, of course apart from the first two being vunerable, and both are perceived as 'disturbing', particularly if you are not in the age groups.

Point made, and I am willing to explain myself further if people don't understand my view.

I agree with your view on hanging, and others too, I'm not a fan of the death penalty, Jimbo hit the nail on the head when he said about life (meaning life) in a cold and lonely prison, surely death is the easy way out?

I think there is in fact a huuuuge difference between fancying kids and fancying grannies, for one grannies are perfectly legal and consenting (unless it was rape of course which is different), having sex with a child means u have never got consent, a child cannot consent to such a thing and realise what they are doing, a granny can consent to sex.

I dont think Paedophiles will ever accepted like homosexuality has been, again with the whole consent thing, and the whole "legally cannot have sex until 16 issue". Plus if it ever was accepted then what a sad and downright wrong world we would be living in.

I'm with Gary on this one too many questions but my answer is that you can't pass judgement on somebody like that because nobody is perfect. Also IMO it's not our place to judge everybody makes mistakes and does things for the same reason however some mistakes are ALOT worse than others. The reasons people make the mistakes aren't always their fault. In this case I will refrain from passing judgement. It's nobodys place to judge someone, there's only God who can.

Im sorry Alex but I think if you see it like that then you are saying only god can judge rapists, murderers, terrorists, etc.

As a parent I shall pass judgment on a Paedophile, I dont want any near my children, it's all good and well these people that say put them back into the community but would they still be saying if the person hurt their child.

You have to remember that sexual abuse on a child is something that will stick with them for the rest of their lives, it doesnt go away, no matter how hard they try, believe me.

I accept what your saying about the fact that it sticks with you forever, but on the other hand how do people who impose the death penalty feel when they go home at night? I do think only God can judge on ths and yes Davey it is my religous side coming out but each of us are imperfect and the simple fact that you want to impose death on somebody makes you no better than a killer, worse perhaps because you make it a judgement remdering it premeditated. Life is a gift and its not ours to take.

I'm not saying for one minute that its acceptable what they have done, and I'm certain the victims families would agree with the fact that their loved one has been taken away from them, they would have viewed their loved one as a gift wouldn't they?
