Luckily I'm oblivious to being labelled, else I would have been offended :)

It's just generalising, everybody does it.

ON TOPIC

I have to study Hedda Gabler for my AS English, the course work is starting next week and it's dull to say the least.

I do wonder what all these studies actually do for you. "A bit of a maverick" anyway (not my self-description but that of a friend), I may at some point object. For instance, we were recently asked to write an essay on a charming Chinese lady called Adeline Yen Mah, who is now 73, can't remember her birthday and describes herself as a former "Chinese Cinderella", to "give us a bit of experience". I myself am already a prolific writer (at length, of course, or I wouldn't object to this), however, and see no point in filling two, three, possibly five pages (she hasn't had an eventful adult life) with details of this woman's life that I frankly do not care about. And I will challenge the 30 minutes after school that I may be given for objecting to wasting my energy on something I already do, the result of which doesn't bother me in the slightest. Needless to say, if it is the case that I am handed this inappropriate detention, they shouldn't expect me to attend.

Sorry. Rant over lol.....but anyway, I'm still reading the Protection from Harrassment Act 1997 in-depth and am up to Chapter 33 now.

Like Tom Hanks and his football on that island in 'Cast Away', it looks like it's just me and the bots here now. But that's alright, we're having a grand old time. Aren't we, Wilson? WILSOOOON?!

A few of us who were once part of the furniture, once stalwarts of the grand and extravagant, exuberant and thriving forum, have receded back into the walls, still faintly visible, still here as poignant, reminding relics of an era gone by; but most of us have vanished, forever immersed in the mists of time.

It does seem a bit odd how people have to study stuff that has no relevance in the real world. I.e. Everyone has to learn Algebra and how many people actually use that often when they are older...

Mathematicians. I don't plan to be a mathematician myself but I have a vague interest in maths. You have to if you're going to be interested in the statistical side of DoND, after all.

But I agree totally, Cookie. I mean, only around 0.02% of people will even remember this sort of thing when they're older. We're people, not hard-working typists you can force to write what you like. Which is what so many people in school don't realise. They need to start sticking up for themselves, this is 2009 and not 1959. Hell, it's not even 2008 anymore (thank God).
Fair enough - the law states that we are in the care of these people from the hours, in my case, of 08:30 (for me, about 08:45) to 14:30. However this does not mean that they should take advantage of this and start thinking they can verbally abuse us and use us in the way stated above.

I appreciate what I've just said may sound slightly immature and probably is, but I don't have the time to explain it all at the moment. All I'll say for now is that I'm going to try and steer this thread back on topic. Again.

Ahem. I am reading "Principles of Photography in Maritime Archaeology" by some archaeologist person written donkey's years ago before there was even film and before the word "Thirty-Five Millimeter" actually existed. Although, that can't be too long ago in all likelihood - in the 1830s and 1840s Daguerreotype was quite common, big metal sheets that you put in water to develop. Something like that.
