Now that December is upon us (and nothing of any note ever gets released in December, unless you're a secret Robson and Jerome fan...), I was wondering what have been your favourite singles and albums of the year. As seen in previous threads, us forum members have got pretty impeccable taste so it would be good to see which records you couldn't stop listening to all year. List as many or as few as you like. If we get enough votes, maybe we could compile a chart! :D

Anyway, I'll start us off...

Albums (in no particular order)

Belle and Sebastian - The Life Pursuit
Long Blondes - Someone to drive you home
The Upper Room - Other People's Problems
Camera Obscura - Let's get out of this country

Singles

Delays - Valentine
The Pipettes - Pull Shapes
Guillemots - Trains to Brazil.

Over to you now... :-D

'Pull Shapes' is superb, I challenge anyone not to feel happy listening to it. The album's not bad either....

I singles I have to nominate
'The View' - 'Superstar Tradesman'
'Lily Allen' - 'LDN'
'Magic Numbers' - 'Take A Chance'
'Fratellis' - 'Whistle For The Choir'

.... I'm sure I could think of loads more if I tried.... :?

I'm an old woman when it comes to music. I listen to Aretha Franklin, The Supremes, Luther Vandross, Queen, Whitney Houston, Marvin Gaye, Mike and the Mechanics, Stevie Wonder, Motown stuff. Bit of 80's. Actually come to think of it, I like all music, except for most of the crap thats in the charts nowadays. I'm so old...

Duffer, I havn't even heard of any of the artists you've mentioned. :?

Anyway I'm not completely old fashioned. I do listen to some modern stuff:

Lily Allen - Smile
Gnarls Barkley - Smiley Faces
Gnarls Barkley - Crazy
Corinne Bailey Rae - Put your records on
Sister Sisters - I don't feel like dancing
The Feeling - Fill My Little World

Erm struggling now...

New music I like is

Snow patrol - Chasing Cars
Muse - Supermassive Blackhole
Gnarls barkley - Crazy

the one about a riot and the one about a monster coming over a hill, lol.

Cheers for all the votes and nominations - a few more and we might be able to fashion a Forum Top 10 chart out of it (he says optimistically...) :D

No problem. It's proving pretty popular that one!

Shame that Ciara isn't around any more as her list would have been pretty spectacular I think. :D

Ok, I have found the official best song of the year, if not of all time:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q5fpsln6cUg

I LOVE IT!!! I have it on my website and keep playing it over and over again. It's got to be near Madness's levels, although it doesn't quite take over 'It Must Be Love' as the best song of all time, but everytime I listen to it, it seems to get a little closer...
