Bob Barker's retirement!

Bob Barker, the host of the US version of "The Price is Right" since 1972 is going to retire next year!

It's difficult to imagine The Price is Right without Bob. I used to watch it with him when I lived in Minnesota in the 70s as a kid, then again when I lived in California for nearly 5 years up until December 2002. Given that Bob Barker was a mere 49 years old in 1972, he stated “I will be 83 years old on December 12, and I’ve decided to retire while I’m still young.” (Associated Press). Sasha (my wife) just told me she has met him once!

It's another true great retiring from showbiz, sad day for America when he hangs up his coat.

I know exactly what you mean! I personally think, however, he has chosen the best time to retire with 35 years as host of TPIR and 50 years in television!

No word yet as to who is going to replace him. Lots of names being thrown around, but nothing definite.

I would love to see the show and Barker myself! But I've been hearing that, ever since Barker announced his retirement, demand for tickets have shot up dramatically and people stand in line for as long as TEN HOURS just to get a seat! Plus, there's the fact I live several thousand miles from Los Angeles, CA where the show tapes! (I think you've mentioned your wife is from California!)

They're saying his last show will air in June 2007! I honestly can't wait to see how it's going to end!

Bumping this up to inform everyone that there are only *13* episodes left in Barker's time as host. The finale will air on June 15!

Oh, the wait to see the show has now INCREASED to as long as FIFTY HOURS just to get a seat in the audience!
