Well he was very very clever, but he made quite a big risk for the £250,000 question. (or was it the £500,000 question?) I don't think I would have gambled that much! But that's me I'm a poor student. He's probably comfortable financially anyway!

I saw it tonight for the first time for ages, and he was good. Good timing for ending the show!

Recently i've called it, "Who wants to get bored out of there skull" as they take about half an hour to answer one question.

I agree with nick. It is boring when it takes forever for someone to answer.

Also I watched less frequently when the first person became a millionaire

I always used to watch this show however I eventually got bored of it which is a shame as it's still a good show and format. However I think it would be better if it was aired the same day they recorded so it wouldn't get spoiled. As I saw on the front page of the Mirror a Millionaire winner it did kind of spoil it though of course i'll have to see him win it. And I would love to be in the audience when someone wins it.

I've recently started watching Millionaire again (mainly the 'Classic' episodes on Challenge) after a few years of being a bit fed up with it. I think it's a fantastic show though - it's always there if there's nothing else to watch on the TV on Saturday nights.

Apparently it's still generally the most-watched ITV programme on Saturday nights (except the X-Factor etc.). Not bad considering it started way back in 1998!

I think Who Wants to be a Millionaire is a great gameshow. I've watched it since it started in 1998.

I first started watching it in January 1999, when it was utterly massive *19 million* used to watch it! Now sometimes it gets less than Deal or No Deal.

It'd be nice to have a millionaire without it being spoiled in the papers, though.

Hey, I know...when someone phones a friend, they should edit together a video so Noel answers the phone from the DOND studio!

Does anyone else think the split is just to boost publicity for this weeek's already mega show?

The split? You mean how they ended last week's show just after the bloke got the £500,000 question right? It was almost definitely for publicity, and to create a cliffhanger, obviously. They could've easily done it in one show... except they couldn't because they finished the show about 5 minutes early and showed 5 minutes of adverts before the X Factor!

To be honest with you, I quickly got bored with the stage of the first few questionsin WWTBAM, because you know that people are going to get the first few up to £1,000 correct, because thequestions are normally so stupidly easy.

Then, they're gauaranteed at least £1,000, so you know whatever happens they will either go away with the "milestone" of £1,000 or £32,000(if they get that far) whereas in DOND, in theory, they could be offered over £100k and go away with a small amount, which makes DOND more exciting and different for me.

Every episode of WWTBAM starts in the same way, and you're knowing where you're going with it. However, in DOND, as well all know, we can have good starts, bad starts, brilliant starts, terrible starts, failry good / average starts... and a whole variety of endings...

Or he could mean Chris Tarrants split from his wife

Mmm...what exactly is the point of the first five questions? Why not just guarantee them £1,000 and then go from there? (Although I do remember seeing someone actually manage to win nothing once, which was quite amusing...)

Oh, yeah, I thought he meant how they'd split the game across two shows...

Yep, they answered a question about what animal is someone in law sometimes-referred as, and they answered marsupial.

This is the story of the "marsupial" question:

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/1177266.stm

I suppose the point of the (usually) easy questions at the start is to let the contestant settle in the chair and bring a bit of light relief from the serious stuff when the money gets big. Plus, of course, that small chance of someone leaving with nothing (In those pre-DOND days when it started they possibly missed the idea of sending such contestants home with a very small sum of money, such as a cheque for 1p or £1!)
