That's a great 2009 chart, that!

Definitely can't argue with it; the top 10 features most of my preferred top 10, with the others not much further down the list either!

My 2009 Top 10 is roughly:

1. Black Eyed Peas - I Gotta Feeling
2. Lady GaGa - Pokerface
3. Black Eyed Peas - Meet Me Halfway
4. Calvin Harris - I'm Not Alone
5. La Roux - Bulletproof
6. Lady GaGa - Bad Romance
7. Tinchy Stryder ft. N-Dubz - Number 1
8. Lily Allen - The Fear
9. David Guetta ft. Akon - Sexy Chick
10. Rage Against The Machine - Killing In The Name Of

Rage is probably higher up than 10 for me, but I've put it bottom of the list to favour the more deserving songs. Last year I kept my choices to one per artist (infamously struggling between two of Katy Perry's tracks), but this year with Lady GaGa and the BEPs dominating 2009, I had to be lenient and give two entries for each!

The only other one I struggled to choose was which La Roux track to pick...I prefer Bulletproof, hence why it's in my Top 10...but In For The Kill seems to be everyone's favourite...even if Bulletproof was her only UK Number One! :P

Hmm, yes it does seem a bit odd, but don't forget 'In For The Kill' was at number 2 for around a month.

Also note this isn't the chart adio 1 use... I included the whole of 2009 rather than missing out the last week, because the end of year charts should include the whole year!

My views:

01. Lady Gaga - Pokerface
This has top be the record of 2009, it's her year and this song was, and still is huge.

02. Black Eyed Peas - I Gotta Feeling
I would have this at #2 as well, it's an epic, epic track.

03. Lady Gaga feat. Colby O' Donis - Just Dance
Doesn't sound as big as Pokerface, but an absolute banger!

04. Cheryl Cole - Fight For This Love
Not really great fan of this song, and she had X Factor to back her up maybe putting her at an unfair advantage. I'm just glad that it was released so late into the year!

05. Joe McElderry - The Climb
...

06. La Roux - In For The Kill
Epic at the time, but I don't like now... Maybe a bit too high in the EoY charts for my liking.

07. Black Eyed Peas - Boom Boom Pow
Absolutely stompingly huge song, probably on par to I Gotta Feeling but this didn't have as much hype.

08. Alexandra Burke feat. Flo Rida - Bad Boys
Fairly epic. Quite impressed for someone who was on X Factor. Long lasting satisfaction? No.

09. Rage Against The Machine - Killing In The Name
...

10. Black Eyed Peas - Meet Me Halfway
This band are so popular at the moment... 3 consecutive #1 singles from one album... nd this one catches the mood...

11. Tinchy Stryder feat. N-Dubz - Number 1
My favourite song by him? Not sure. The biggest by him? Definitely!

12. David Guetta feat. Akon - Sexy Chick
I prefer When Love Takes Over, but I can see why this has charted so high.

13. Kings Of Leon - Use Somebody
Their only 2 singles from 2009, Revelry and Notion didn't chart here, but their 2008 ones did! Brilliant song by the lads.

14. Lily Allen - The Fear
This had to be in the top 20, a very grand return for Lily Allen...

15. Dizzee Rascal - Bonkers
Had 2 weeks at number 1, although this is one of my least favourites by him I'm surprised it isn't higher up.

16. JLS - Beat Again
Better of the two singles. You have to respect them for doing so well when only getting 2nd on the Fix Factor...

17. Lady Gaga - Bad Romance
Should be in the top 10 but it was only released a few weeks ago. Third number 1 of the year for Gaga, and her 3rd week at #1 if it wasn't for X Factor... Hopefully seeing it next year in the EoYs too.

18. James Morrison feat. Nelly Furtado - Broken Strings
Very nice song, glad it did so well everywhere. His next one deserved to as well...

19. Lady Gaga - Paparazzi
4 of Gaga's 5 songs in the top 20?!?! Wow. :-D The video is the best thing that's been done, until Bad Romance came along. We were so lucky in the UK to be released this single before everyone else!

20. Kings Of Leon - Sex On Fire
Surely everyone in the UK must have a copy of this now?!

21. David Guetta feat. Kelly Rowland - When Love Takes Over
The echo of summer, If I was running the charts, I'd want this in Sexy Chick's position.

22. Flo Rida feat. Ke$Ha - Right Round
Brilliant.

23. Calvin Harris - I'm Not Alone
Not to my personal liking but it did hang around for a while.

24. Beyoncé - Halo
I still prefer Kelly Clarkson's 'Already Gone' but this is one of my favourites from her album, along with Sweet Dreams.

25. Peter Kay's Animated All-Star Band - BBC Children In Need Medley
...

26. La Roux - Bulletproof
A lot of people have recently gone off La Roux, but this whiny song will always remind us of Summer, 2009.

27. A R Rahman & The Pussycat Dolls feat. Nicole Scherzinger - Jai Ho! (You Are My Destiny)
The Pussycat Dolls feat. Nicole look at me I'm the most important person from the Pussycat Dolls, and the other shadows? Anyway, glad this did so well.

28. X Factor Finalists - You Are Not Alone
Pfft.

29. Taylor Swift - Love Story
Prefer 'Teardrops On My Guitar', 'You Belong With Me' and even 'Fifteen' but this shows off the delicate voice from a stunning woman... This song is just a bit too cheesy for me...

30. Cascada feat. Carlprit - Evacuate The Dancefloor
There was a lot of controversy when Cascada kept Michael Jackson's 'Man In The Mirror' from the top spot. I'm glad it did. I'm sad that after this single, things have gone relly downhill for them [obviously the change of song didn't last for too long]

31. Kid Cudi VS. The Krookers - Day N`Nite
Kept off by 'Pokerface'. I remember thinking this was tosh at the time but it's quite good actually.

32. Lily Allen - Not Fair
Surprised this is so high, it's alright.

33. Beyoncé - Single Ladies
I really can't stand this.

34. Jay-Z feat. Alicia Keys - Empire State Of Mind
One of the massive tunes of 2009!

35. Taio Cruz - Break Your Heart
Sad because this reminds the end of summer and the return back to sixth form!

36. Agnes - Release Me
Love this woman and it's an anthem.

37. Daniel Merriweather - Red
Popular amoungt the adults though I am not a huge fan. Preferred his records that flopped after...

38. Beyoncé - Sweet Dreams
See 'Halo'

39. Jason Mraz - I'm Yours
Only peaked at #11 but was in the chart for ages!

40. Keri Hilson feat. Kanye West and Ne-Yo - Knock You Down
Emotional sad song, I'm glad Hilson got a fairly decent hit.

My top 10 [using the top 40]

1. Lady Gaga - Pokerface
2. Black Eyed Peas - I Gotta Feeling
3. David Guetta feat. Kelly Rowland - When Love Takes Over
4. Lady Gaga - Paparazzi
5. Black Eyed Peas - Boom Boom Pow
6. Lady Gaga feat. Colby O' Donis - Just Dance
7. Lady Gaga - Bad Romance
8. Jay-Z feat. Alicia Keys - Empire State Of Mind
9. Lily Allen - The Fear
10. Flo Rida feat. Ke$Ha - Right Round
--
James Morrison, Black Eyed Peas (MMH), Agnes, Keri Hilson and Taio Cruz/Kings Of Leon would be somewhere just under the top 10!

As I'm more into, shall we say, 'non-mainstream' music, it's quite hard for me to pick many songs out of that top 40 which I find anything more than bearable.

'Calvin Harris - I'm Not Alone' was probably my fave chart track of the year, but mainly due to the Deadmau5 remix of it.

Other than that, I'm struggling! 'Empire State Of Mind' was a good track, but mainly due to the fact that Alicia Keys has an amazing voice.

I'm certainly not surprised at the content of that list though, despite being considerably underwhelmed by it! :-D

I found this song being played simultaneously on THREE local radio stations last week. THREE!!! That's insane. I never liked it much anyway, and then Lloyd went and completely ruined it even further on X Factor with his pathetic flat voice.

If the radio hadn't been attached to my car I would've probably taken a sledgehammer to it. :whyme

It is crazy considering two more singles have been released since then! And it only ever got to #11 and just hung around for ages. [It still charts now sometimes]. Everything else [apart from Single Ladies] I think got at least top 5!

Something similar happened the other day... Boom Boom Pow was playing on Radio 1, so I turned on 4music and I Gotta Feeling was playing, so I turned to UP YOUR VIVA and Meet Me Halfway was playing!

Heart (the radio station in question) seem to have a fascination with Jason Mraz, JLS and Micheal Buble.

Every time I get a lift to and from work, they is always one of the three on, if not more.

Absolutely, it plays in our school canteen. They also seem to love Whitney Houston, James Morrison & Nelly Furtado and more recently Leona Lewis. Glad it's not just me that noticed this! :laughing

As I'm more into, shall we say, 'non-mainstream' music, it's quite hard for me to pick many songs out of that top 40 which I find anything more than bearable.

I am exactly the same, I've gotta say... My favourite is probably 'Just Dance' or 'Release Me'; and I can't wait for OWL CITY to make a proper UK Debut :D :D :D

And when you say 'non-mainstream music' and a deadmau5 avatar, I take it you're into some sort of House genre?

Oh don't get Aaron started!

At work, it's most of 2009's biggest tracks looping...pretty much that top 40 above is played, along with a few others like Sov's So Human...
