Well I would of course be in favour of Countdown!
I'm currently the #7 seed!

It hasn't been the same since twice nightly died. They should have burried the show along with him.

I really like it. I think the show has came on very well since the difficult circumstances after Whiteley's death.

It's easy to say "it's not the same without Richard", but I think Des has proven himself to be a great choice for the new presenter. I'm glad it wasn't Noel, as well!

It's a good idea! But I don't like countdown that much!

There was always going to be that argument - Des is not as good as Richard Whiteley.

But I think he's been terrific, he is in no way attempting to be Richard (as can clearly be seen in his plain suits and ties!) and he and Carol seem to get on very well.

Countdown was too popular with many people to have been axed, the show must go on but the legacy of Whiteley will still live on.

Talking of Countdown, I managed to spell 'Noel' in the last round just before today's game. I'm so clever.

Some people have suggested that if Channel 4 had known how successful DOND was going to be, they might have decided to leave Countdown in the past.

Could have backfired on DOND though, as any show replacing a national institution like Countdown would have had more than its fair share of unfavourable comparisons!

Countdown is still watchable, the game hasn't changed. I really miss Richard though. I just can't warm to Des, he just seems so miserable, every time he smiles I think his face is about to crack. Richard was so bubbly in comparison. Such a shame

i love countdown, i do miss richard but feel that des does a fine job in his own way...

there's nothing wrong with not being 'smiley' either, can't stand people that are too smiley (the emphasis on the 'too')... some faces just aren't built that way, doesn't mean the person is miserable... many a time, i've been walking along the road, full of the joys of spring... only to have a oap come out of a shop purely to tell me 'cheer up hen, it might not happen', which, ironically... is depressing... i hope no one ever says to someone for whom it has happened... :\

anyway... because of countdown i know my 75 times table better that the 1-12 times tables... :)

I watch it lots but I'm still not very good.

I feel proud to have got a 6, but then it's usually
"OK, what did you get?"
"8"

I love Countdown but Carol Vorderman is spoiling it for me. Ever since Richard died she has been getting herself more and more involved and for me, it's unncessary. She's now introducing the Dictionary Corner, makes up different games for everyone to play but no-one gets a chance, she takes over with her prepared answers. She also gets alot more camera time than she normally does. How many times does the camera just pan to her and she's standing there smiling down the camera at you?

Maybe it's the cynic in me, but when Richard died it seems that in order for her to remain on the show, she demanded more air time.

Yeah, it annoys me too, she tries to be too involved now.

Haha, anyone else find it funny that since he was last on, Connor's got long hair and his voice has broken? :-D

Just wandered over to the TV, Connor's nailing him. What happened?

Conor has been kicking his ass. He came up with two random, virtually unheard of words - a 7 and an 8, which no-one knew whether or not is was all right. They were in the dictionary, but he didn't know what they meant. He also won the first numbers game.
