Any fans of cartoons here? Which cartoon was your favourite? A cartoon thread was needed in this forum!

Just two rules:
1. Don't mention that blasted My Little Pony show.
2. The phrase "Cartoons are for kids" is banned.

Discuss. :-D

My favourite ones are:

Digimon
Sonic Satam
Adventures of Sonic the hedgehog (anyone here know Robotnik's famous line from that series?!)
Tiny Toons Adventures
Looney Toons
Kim Possible
Dave The Barbarian (VERY underrated show too!)
Chip and Dale rescue rangers (I fancied the pants off Gadget by the way ;-) )
Lilo and Stitch
Billy The Cat (One of the most overlooked cartoons EVER. as Mark would say - "OH DEAR....OH DEAR...OH DEAR... should've got a LOT more recognition than it did!" :))
Goof Troop
Ducktales
Blinky Bill (being an australian it would be wrong NOT to like that one :P)
The Animals of Farthing Wood
Hercules - The animated disney series
Teen Titans

I suppose Sonic X could be on the list, but it was ruined by ABYSMAL english dubbing! :x
As you can see there's a lot of old Disney cartoons on my list. Disney really was the bomb back in the 1990's and early 2000's, but then in 2006, High School Musical and Hannah Montana came along and it was the beginning of the end for Disney. Now, Disney consists of hardly anything besides these bland, stupid and totally unfunny live-action kiddie-pop shows that are all pretty much the same as each other, and hardly any cartoons. Disney is a pale shadow of it's old self now, If Walt Disney came back to life, I'm sure he would have a breakdown if he saw the state that his once-awesome company is in now

Of course one of the highlights of Tiny Toons Adventures for me was Fifi, You know, the purple, french-accented skunkette. (What a cutie she is ;-))

Was that the 4kids show? I never liked the show, because it was the new design of Sonic, and I wasn't and am not a fan of Anime (except for Pokemon, but I was just a kid!)

I agree, I loved watching the Disney Channel as a kid in the late 90s, but it really has turned to pot. I like the handdrawn Disney films, and most of the Disney shorts (I just can't stand Mickey Mouse, but I really like Donald Duck cartoons).
When I go tutoring, before the start someone's always watching the Disney channel. They were watching some of that live-action crap. I cringed at the lame jokes and poor acting. There's really a plethora of fake, self-centered spoilt brats in very fancy houses and posh American neighbourhoods. Say, if my mum put me in front of ''Hannah Montanna'', I'd say ''What... is... this crap? Change the damn channel and put some proper entertainment on!''
I've even heard that Cartoon Network is showing live-action programmes on their channel. Uh did you executives... forget what the name of your channel was?

Some of my favourite cartoons:

Looney Tunes! There's over 1,000 timeless WB cartoons that were made from 1930-1969 (the best years were from 1936-1957). There's such a wide range of cartoons to watch, and almost all of them are hilarious. Definitely my favourite cartoon series ever made, with a lot of history, and with different styles in cartoons as the years progressed. My favourite LT character is Daffy, then Sylvester (there's more to him than just catching an annoying yellow canary, a fast Mexican mouse and a highly irritating baby kangaroo!)

Tom and Jerry. My favourite cartoon as a kid, and I can see why now. Hilariously violent, beautifully animated, and IMO, the musical director, Scott Bradley, was probably the reason why T&J were, and are still so popular. His music scores for the Hanna/Barbera/Quimby cartoons are nothing short of amazing, and even the duller cartoons in the late 50s are really enhanced by his music. I also enjoy the scores for the WB cartoons. T&J had a lot of eras too, the Gene Deitch era, which is pretty campy, and the Chuck Jones era, which I quite like. But stay off Tom and Jerry Tales, the music is EXTREMELY irritating.
P.S. my Favorite character is definitely Mammy Two-Shoes.

Tex Avery. One of the best cartoon directors who ever lived. All his cartoons are deathly funny (and sometimes kinda racist...! there's some really nasty blackface gags in some of his cartoons at MGM. Check out an uncut version of ''Droopy's Good Deed''!) It's a shame I didn't see much of his stuff as a kid, because I really would have liked it! Some of my favourite cartoons from him are ''Magical Maestro'' and ''Red Hot Riding Hood''.

The Simpsons. I'm a bit more lenient than hardcore Simpsons fans, and I think they jumped the shark after Season 15/16. Even the always-criticised Mike Scully era (Seasons 10-12) is pretty fun. But the new episodes, and especially the ones in HD, are bland, stiffly animated, and painfully unfunny. Just watch ''The D'Oh-cial network'', aired this year. :smt011

Family Guy. This show can be a bit obnoxious, but the early seasons are extremely funny!

South Park. Very poorly animated, but that adds to the charm in the series. I always end up laughing out loud when I watch any episode.

Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog. IMO, the best Sonic animated series. Extremely fun, with some very strong and endearing characters. You can't not like Dr. Robotnik, Scratch, Grounder and Coconuts! They were my favourite characters in the series! There's some really funny animation in the series as well.

Powerpuff Girls/Johnny Bravo/Dexter's Laboratory/More old CN cartoons - Really fun cartoons which I enjoyed watching as a kid before and after T&J or LT. I particularly liked Dexter's Laboratory, that was some major fun stuff.

Ed, Edd, and Eddy. I loved the design and animation style of the characters, and still do, they're hilarious! My favourite character was that wimp Jimmy though (what was that hoop around his head for? :bluelol )

Disney - Anything but Mickey/Minnie mouse! I just can't stand those mice. However, most of the other characters in the Disney Silly Symphonies was great. I'm a fan of the Donald Duck universe, which does include DuckTales!

Other cartoons that I like:
Woody Woodpecker
Popeye
Some UPA stuff
Sonic SatAM
Used to like Pokemon
Tiny Toons
Animaniacs

"Wabbit Season!" "Duck Season!"

Daffy Duck's "You're dethpichable" moments

The moment when Elma Fudd is about to shoot Bugs and then Bugs stops him and says "That's an elephant gun, so why don't you shoot yourself an elephant" and than an elephant stand up behind Elma Fudd, threatens him and punches Elma fudd into the ground! :P

Anything involving Fifi la fume

Pretty much all Road runner and Wile e Coyote scenes

Several scenes from the Tiny Toons movie "How i spent my summer vacation" this includes:
- Fifi yelling out "It isn't over until zee fat lady seengs!", then a huge fat lady singing the american national anthem on a balcony above falls off the balcony and lands on fifi squashing her
- Fifi kicking Jonny pew's a** because he promised Fifi that autograph then gave it away to that sexy pink female skunk Bimbette (what a BABE she is, ooh la la :smt007)) Jonny pew was such such an arrogant sod, he so had it coming to him! :D
- Plucky's trip to happy world land with Hamton and his ridiculously controlling parents. And that psycho guy with the chainsaw! :-D

Those scenes come from Rabbit Fire, truly one of the best cartoons ever made.

The moments I remember from childhood have to be Daffy's last act, where he drinks nitroglycerin, eats uranium-238, eats gunpowder and drinks a generous portion of gasoline, strikes an ordinary match, swallows the match, and... you work that out. (From Show Biz Bugs).

I also remember the brilliant scene where Wile E. Coyote swallowed a whole bottle of earthquake pills. It even scared me a little. (Hopalong Casualty)

I think I remember that episode... :bluelol

Back on topic, has anybody seen any of the censored 11 cartoons on YouTube? There's some really good cartoons (but no doubt really racist) like 'Coal Black and de Sebben Dwarves' and 'Goldilocks and the Jivin' Bears', but some of them are truly dismal, like 'Sunday Go To Meetin' Time' (featuring one of the most racist gags ever!)

Funnily enough, they're not as bad as 'Tokio Jokio', an absolutely appalling cartoon.

I remember they banned an episode of Tiny Toons adventures because the characters were drinking beer! :P

Just goes to show how much political correctness is being shoved down our throats today unlike back then :x

Yeah, there's so many cuts in cartoons. It really does piss me off, though in very rare cases, I agree with the edits (find an unedited version of "The Milky Waif", the censored scene is really racist, but the way they cut it is really badly done.)

Editing for violence? Give me a break.
I've watched every single T&J cartoon and every LT cartoon from 1943-1964. I've never:
  1. Put a cat in a washing machine
  2. Never dropped an anvil on anyone.
  3. Hit someone's fingers with a hammer.
  4. Put a helmet with a wheel on my head and slid down a wire.

The list is endless...

All this Disney Channel crap is more mind-messing than any of the classic cartoons.

What about editing out female characters' cleavage on cartoons?, i'm kind of on the fence about that one

Imagine if they brought out this character today! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xirDE57RlDA

Well... the confused.com adverts are much more jiggly. Image

You seem to be a huge fan of Tiny Toons! I think I might see if there's a cheap DVD on Amazon, because it looks quite interesting. Of course, I used to watch it as a kid but I never remembered much of it...

Watched some Tiny Toons on YouTube. I really like it. It's more childish than the originals, but the personalities of the characters are great. Elmyra is a hilarious character, and Fifi LaFume has got Pepe LePew's personality to a T.

James, you should totally put Fifi as your avatar.

One thing i've noticed cartoons is that villainesses always seem to be HEAPS hotter than heroines :?

Any exceptions to that rule?
