They have an impenetrable rugby team that could pound even a pro baseball team into next weeks' news. Baseball bats would have the same impact on them as being struck by a polystyrene tube.

Tonight's match saw Manchester play St George's London for a place in the semis, with the Mancunians emerging on top by 220-135. But it was nowhere near as easy a win as that score suggests.

Indeed Dan. And it ended the same, with Bangor defeating King's College Cambridge by 195-70. Thus, Bangor take the final place in the semis, which start next week.

So, the first semi-final tonight, between UCL and New College Oxford. UCL led for most of the match, and won by 195-115. Which means there won't be an Oxbridge side in the final for the first time since 2007!

And so the second semi-final tonight, a quiet affair between Manchester and Bangor, with Manchester winning by 160-95.

And so, the final next week between U.C.L. and Manchester. If you want a tip from me, I'd go for U.C.L., but I wouldn't be surprised which way it goes.

And so, for the second year running, Manchester are the University Challenge champions. Despite being the underdogs in the final, they defeated U.C.L. by 190-140. Well done to them! :smt023
