that is a matter of a opinion, having started angels and demons six months ago,, it felt the same as da vinci and could be a disgrunteling read, but with out making you think, at least the da vinci code made you want to investigate the things in which he had said.. not a lot of them was new but it did put together a new way of looking at old myths and stories...

the best dan brown book which i have liked is,, DIGITAL FORTRESS. so if folks want a book of dan browns to read i recommend that...

Read both Angels and Demons and Da Vinci code earlier this year and can't say I'm interested in reading any more Dan Brown books. :smt011

yes there was about the chapel in scotland, which wheere the adventure concludes...

it was on weds night just before the footy and after an interesting programme on venus..

the chapel is in a poor state and has a tin shed roof over it to save it from more damage...

the programme was more about the running of the chapel then the artifacts and reasons why it is used..

I'm about halfway through the book at the moment. I've read many critical reviews of it though, saying Brown should patch up on his historical references or whatever. I personally think it's fine.

The film should be good though, Tom Hanks is in it, as well as Ian Mckellen, Jean Reno, and Alfred Molina, all great actors in many people's views. Directed by Ron Howard.. what more could someone want?

Rofl, I was just waiting for someone to say that.. :-D

But the market for museum and history fetishes can't be that big.. Certainly change, and open the minds of those criticisers though.

Has anyone seen the film yet? I want to know if it's worth bothering with. I quite liked the book but not convinced it would make a good film.

I can't think of a film that was hyped up as much as the Da Vinci Code and got so much stick. After reading so many bad reviews I'm not looking forward to seeing it. However, I am hoping many of these critics may have panned it based on their own personal opinions and beliefs, having had them - debunked is the wrong word - maybe questioned, in the book. A film as controversial as this probably can't be recommended to you, you're either going to like it or hate.

I went to see this last night, the Cinema was packed!

I thought it was pretty good, but some scenes were a bit cheesy for my liking, such as the scenes of London with Red Telephone boxes and Red Buses everywhere - that was a bit over-the-top and you could see it was designed for an American audience. Oh and the bit on the bus, where Langdon and Sophie used the lad's phone, which just happened to be Sony Eriksson, who are using the Da Vinci Code in their advertisements.

I think the deliverance of it tried to avoid controversy, and make it into more of a adventure film, including Langdon's speech right at the end about Jesus. I liked the film though, not as bad as the reviews made out. I'd tell everyone to see it just to check out the hype and then make your own judgements on it afterwards!

With all the hype you would have thought it would get better reviews. Tom Hanks is miscast, the suspense gets lost on dull drawn out dialogue necessary to explain the plot. As a study on who Jesus was/is it really is a waste of time cos there are so many historical errors, that the little stuff that is factual is really not important to the most profound questions that arise out of it. Sony make this statement about their movie: "the characters and incidents portrayed and the names herein are fictitious, and any similarity to the name, character or history of any person is entirely coincidental and unintentional". For more on The Da Vinci Code historical untruths see http://www.Jesusevidence.com

I think people just have to take it as what it is - a work of fiction, nothing more.

The Da Vinci code is quite a good story, and I agree, the "explanations" went on for too long and spoilt the film. With the books, you can skip out skim over those parts, but I think that it was drawn out quite a bit.

In terms of the miscast of Tom Hanks, the one thing I have noticed after reading 3 out of the 4 Dan Brown books (I am aware of) is that his main protagonists are very strong, but his other characters are quite weak. I think you are right with the mis-casting of Tom Hanks, as the main protagonist he should have been a lot stronger - but it was the character Teabing (can't remember the actor's name) which had a much stronger role. I really enjoyed how he brought that character to life.

Exactly, just like the bible.

The Matrix Reloaded. One of the most hyped movies ever, and one of the most hated too.

I just went in to the cinema expecting a thriller - very disappointed - it was frankly rubbish - it wasn't deep, it was artificial and unbelievable. It wasn't exciting either - Hanks was lame. I know it is supposed to be fiction, but I thought they'd dress up these flawed theories slightly better than that.

Waste of my money.
