It appears Andy Abraham will be 'flying the flag' for the UK this year...

Where has he gone to, since bringing an album out in 2005 after losing to Shayne Ward in the X Factor 2006? Definitely worth watching this year, finally the cheese has been binned (excuse the pun! ;) ) and we're going for talent this year!

What does everyone else think?

Well why get Andy Abrahams the runner up to respresent the UK when you could get Shayne Ward himself  And I think Eurovision is way too big I mean in the Bucks fizz era you only the basics Greece, France, Spain, Germany, Denmark et cetera now you've more and more countries like Lithuania, Armenia, Georgia, Ukraine and its way too big they are putting more and more countries in the contest it takes 3 hours to give the points out.

Now this year we've got Azerbaijan, Kazakistan to make a debut. But anyway Andy Abrahams he better be good I don't want to be beaten by Lordi again

Andy was better than Shayne and always will be but I personally think Andy is above this and despite his talents he cannot stop political voting which we all know is bound to happen.

You can't have a well-known artist in Eurovision, as it's against the so-called rules, so Shayne could never feature.

Lordi can't feature this year as they already took part in 2006 - they only featured last year as a special appearance.

Apart from that, yeah I agree with everyone's comments - however, this might be the turning point for Andy. He might now want to record another album, which my mum for one would love to buy as well as his debut.

Good luck to him anyways! Political voting might only work against cheesy music - Jessica Garlick back in 2002 got us 5th after all!

I wasnt impressed with Andy's song, it reminded me too much of Respect Yourself by The Staple Singers. Michelle Gayle and her song seemed more fun to me. Another very low score awaits us at Eurovision. In these days of political voting its just a no-win situation for UK entries anyway.

I didn't think much of any of the songs to be honest. It's all a bit pointless anyway, as we don't have any neighbours to vote for us, and most of Europe dislikes us because of Bliar and his war in Iraq.

Still, it's nice to see that Wogan et al are just treating it all with tongue in cheek - as it should be. I think it's fairly ridiculous that some countries in Europe treat it seriously.

Hope we don't do a Gemini this year

Surely the Michelle Gayle song should've won, it was pure Eurovision! I thought Terry had read the result wrong again and even he himself had to double check!

Good luck Andy (you'll need it!) My money's on Ireland this year!! Purely because everyones talking about it already!! :P

jiveclive, it doesn't matter who represents the UK. We're still not going to win.

The only votes we'll get are from Ireland and Malta, and I doubt after last year that Ireland will vote for us either.

I thought that the Eurovision Song Contest was about other European nations culture of music and art but now it's all about politics I'm fed up with it. Since Tony Blair sent troops into Iraq we are now a hate figure and has Sir Terry Wogan said 'We are suffering from post Iraqi backlash'

Germany and Spain tend to give us good votes usually, but apart from that, hardly anyone votes for us full stop.

We could go on about this all day and night! He'll do well to score a good few points, but as long as UK finish on the left side of the screen showing the final points tally, I'll be happy! :)

Sadly Divvy, you're wrong, we don't get votes from Germany and Spain normally. Ireland and Malta are the only ones that give us votes normally (I'm still grateful to Malta for giving us 12 points last year)
