Hosted by Bradley Walsh this started yesterday on ITV1, which I didn't see, but caught the second episode today. Has anyone else seen it?

I must say that for a split second when watching this today I thought I was watching DOND when I heard the start of some blue chants (in relation to one of the reels having the biggest cash amount) I'm sure Endemol will be quick to ban them though

Here's a little info on what it's about.

Endemol wrote:
Spin Star brings the thrills, unpredictability and big money gamble of the casino into a game show studio. Dominating the stage is the Moneyspinner; an enormous Las Vegas-style, five-reel slot machine.

On the reels of the Moneyspinner are cash, questions and the names of the five contestants who will be answering those questions. Correct answers could build up a prize pot worth hundreds of thousands.

But none of these five people will be winning a single penny on the show. Instead, they are trying to win it for one other person… today’s Spin Star, the person who’s in charge of the giant slot machine. The five contestants will want to do their very best though, because one day they’ll all get their turn to pull the handle of the Moneyspinner.

At the end of each game the Spin Star will be leaving, hopefully with a huge cash prize, and the following day one of the other contestants will become the Spin Star. So everyone returns, day after day, until it is their turn to be the Spin Star.

Bradley says: “I am delighted to be presenting Spin Star. It’s such an incredibly entertaining show with lots of surprises in store for the contestants and viewers.

We really get to know the contestants and I am sure the viewers will feel their pain on losing and their joy on winning.”

Adam MacDonald, ITV1 Controller of Daytime says: “Spin Star is a deceptively clever quiz format and Bradley is brilliant as its host”.

Tom Blakeson at Initial adds; “Taking on the slot machine in Spin Star requires, skill, nerve and a whole lot of luck. Its unpredictable nature guarantees every game is full of nasty twists and fantastic surprises.”

Spin Star sees huge shifts in fortune; big gambles, against-the-odds victories and sudden and devastating losses – all within seconds of each other.

Lucky for me we have a 2:15 finish on Tuesdays so I'll get that episode, maybe shorten it down a little...

Once the adverts have been cut out it will be about 35 minutes so you could do 4, 9 minute "episodes"!

Saw this on Monday...

and the contestant Lian won £36,000. The biggest win they've had so far.

I only see the show on occasion, but it's quite a fun show and Bradley's not a bad host either. I do think it's trying to have that 'DOND feeling' to the show as well by having the contestants get to know each other. They seem to bond quite well and they also run around hugging/kissing each other if someone gets a question right. Though of course it is made by Endemol.

I can't help feeling though that sometimes the reels could be fixed. I'm sure they're not, but it just feels suspicious sometimes on what it lands on.

I had that same feeling, when people get the triples for example after a few minutes of Bradley saying "wouldn't it be great if we got a triple" may of course be down to editing though

Apparently some geezer called Glenn Hugill is one of three executive producers on the show (with the other two currently works on Golden Balls). I wonder what other show he has recently worked on... :ponder: :ponder:

I watched this the other day and couldn't take Bradley Walsh seriously! And the whole concept is pretty random lol! But it wasn't unpleasant and if I was stuck I would watch it again!

Amazing to think that this is filmed in the same location as Deal or No Deal...

Well you know how Deal is filmed in the Paintworks?

Spin Star is filmed in a building around the back of the Bocabar, in the Pinewood Studios.

EDIT: There is a building on the same site called Pinewood...I was jumping the gun and assuming it was filmed there as it is a production of Endemol West, with the ITV building just down the road, AND the Bristol location being mentioned in the credits...
