Anyone else watch this or just me?

It's on Challenge and is a Japanese show with an english voiceover. If you've ever watched Takeshi's Castle it's got a similar feel. There are 100 contestants who have to compete against 4 stages of assault courses to try and get to the end and become a Ninja Warrior.

Yer I've seen some of it - it's pretty good but you cannot beat Takeshi.

OMG I Just got done watching the 19th latest Ninja Warrior compo on Japan dvd and the first course is INSANE NOW out of the 100 people only 2 got through and neither were all stars and both went out on second stage on the second obstacle The salmon ladder - the Designers have made all 3 stages 100x more impossible now.

Makoto Nagano became only the second person to win Ninja warrior in tourny 17, after his win The designers redesigned stage 1 in a attempt to make it hard enough for no one to pass and then added new obstacles to stages 2 and 3 and making the existing ones even harder than they already were.
So in tourny 18 with all new stages only 6 people made stage 2 and 3 got toe third stage and all fell on the cliff hanger now made 10x harder than it already was.

Tournament 19 (lastest) kept the same course as 18 bar a couple of new added obstacles for 19 ,but they made a few really evil modifications to make the stage 1 obstacles EVEN harder than when the 6 people barely got through it in NW 18 and these few alterations just made it impossible bar 2 who were very lucky.

They both were not all stars and fell out quickly on stage 2 on same obstacle was only the second one in the stage as well, everyone was stunned BAM the tournament was over fast as that!

Even Nagano went out ON STAGE 1 in the 19th tournament I think that alone demoralised everyone else the sad reactions from everyone and shock when he went out made it hit home how much harder they had made it now. If he cannt even clear stage 1 now everyone must have felt hope was lost!

Here is a couple clips I found,
The first shows a load of people all falling out on stage 1 the other link shows the last few people going out on stage 1 Including Nagano everyone is so sad :( and shocked, then it shows you the two survivors fail in stage 2 and the end credits roll.

I suspect a English translation of this tournament will be shown on Challenge next year.

Yer He wins it in sasuke 4! Back then there was no spider climb on the tower it was just a rope all the way up.
I think they will show sasukes 2 to 8 since Challenge currently shows 9 to 17 I think and one of the womens one Kunochi.

I heard sasuke 1 had never been shown outside Japan even in the states they have not seen it.

I suspect they will show 2 to 8 and then 18 - 19 probably.

It would of been better if they had started from the first tournement (or the second if they can't get the rights) in the first place.

How long has this actaully been going on in Japan and how many tournements take place in a year?

I've noticed that Challenge have started showing a new Japanese programme called Unbeatable Banzuke which is in similar style to Ninja Warrior whereby contestants have to take part in various games/challenges. I've only watched a couple of episodes (I think it started last week) so far and it seems to be more varied than Ninja Warrior with a selection of challenges. It's also hosted/voiced by Brian Blessed dressed in a big red suit  but despite not being a big fan of his he's actually not bad.

Some of the games i've seen include hand walk course, a bike course where you have to get through an obstacle course (looks very hard), sitting on top of a big red ball and rolling it through a course, see-saw game, sponge bridge (similar to the Dominoes game seen in TC and NW).

It's shown at 6pm on Challenge and again at 11pm (rpt) and I think it's on at 9am (rpt) in the morning as well. Plus a weekend repeat of all the weekday episodes.

I've seen some of it. It's alright actually, although Brian Blessed is a bit annoying..
