In no particular order:

1) Silence of the Lambs
2) Beethoven
3) Homeward Bound: The Incredible Journey
4) Balto
5) Borat: Cultural Learnings of America For Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakstan

Silence of the Lambs is also my mum's fave, and I'll always sit down and watch it with her whenever it's always on ITV2 at night.

How can you NOT like Beethoven? :D

Homeward Bound my mum told me to watch one day when I was young and I loved it - at least I don't end up crying at the end like my mum still does! :P

Balto is amazing - watch it if you haven't already; it's ever such a good story!

And Borat goes on the list because I have never laughed so much during one movie! Jagshamash! :-D

I really, really don't get the appeal of these films at all... yes, the special effects are fantastic but I found the plots of all 3 of them pretty dire and, apart from in "Secret Window" and the new "Sweeney Todd" film, I don't think Johnny Depp can act at all.

And Divvy, I hate to agree with you but Silence of The Lambs is just a breathtaking film- Anthony Hopkins is only on screen for something like 20 minutes but in those 20 minutes his character is developed brilliantly and his on screen rapport with Jodie Foster is amazing- Hannibal is good too but it can't really be compared to Silence of The Lambs. Julianne Moore is still very good as Clarice though, even though Foster is better.

And OMG how did I forget The Goonies and Clockwork Orange- if I could do a top ten list then they'd definitely be 6th and 7th, they're brilliant....

In fact:

10. Taxi Driver
9. The Bodyguard
8. Aliens
7. The Goonies
6. A Clockwork Orange
5. The Breakfast Club
4. Pulp Fiction
3. Se7en
2. Misery
1. The Silence of The Lambs

That's better...

5. The Blues Brothers
4. Sweeney Todd
3. Moulin Rouge
2. Love Actually
1. Mamma Mia

Wow, 4 of them are musicals and I didn't even think I liked musicals that much. :? Basically I only like light-hearted things, I don't have the patience to sit through a 2 hourish long film if it's not "fun" in some way.

Erm, I don't really know an order, but all these are in my top 5.

Meet the Fockers
The Shining (for the mystery)
House of Wax (remake)
Shrooms
Flowers in the Attic

I don't like action films
