An old classic show that was mostly on BBC2 and ended up finishing on Five, this was one of my all-time favourite shows as a kid.

One day I hope, like Gladiators, it will come back!

It was just incredible to watch home-made robots battle it out in an arena filled with flame grills and pits, hell even a 'drop zone' later on in the later series!

And now while flicking through the channels the other morning, I found series 3 and 4 being shown on Bravo2! It's all coming back to me now, must stay sane... :whyme

ROBOT WARS IS AMAZING

I've been watching it on Youtube for ages now and now on those Bravo channels. I dont know about bringing it back though, these things are never as good...

Also does anyone remember Clarkson being the original presenter?! That came as a bit of a shock to me...

This was a great show. I liked all the house robots like Sir Killalot and Matilda. :D

Though I don't think it would be as good as it was if it was brought back.

Even if it did come back, I think like Gladiators it will never ever be as good as it was back in its prime during the Third and Fourth Wars.

You will NEVER have better robots like Razer, Hypno-Disc (my all-time favourite), and of course, Chaos 2!

I actually cried when in the Final of the Fourth Wars, Pussycat pushed Hypno-Disc into Shunt and he killed them with one axe blow! They deserved to win the series simply by coming back with a self-righting mechanism (which was the only thing stopping them winning the Third Wars!)

It got fairly average after the Fifth Wars, but the Sixth Wars did have one Hall of Fame moment - when Chaos 2 was flipped out of the arena by Dantomkia, an unknown newbie! That was its last-ever fight! :P

And of course, Tornado cheating in the Final against Razer by putting a huge metal frame around their robot to avoid damage...and still won!

I could go on forever!

Yeah I think if some channel (Sky One :suspect:) were to bring it back it would never be able to match the original series'. So it's most probably best just left in the TV history books.

We MUST have some highlights!

Enjoy!

The First Wars - Grand Final:
Six robots battle for the First Wars crown...it proved to be Jeremy Clarkson's last appearance on the show before Craig Charles took over.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3a7C-OCh ... re=related

The Second Wars - Grand Final:
Cassius, the overwhelming favourites - can they beat Panic Attack for the crown?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n9KddLjJ ... re=related

The Third Wars - Grand Final:
Easily the two best robots of the series make the Final...flipping king Chaos 2 against the disc-truction of Hypno-Disc!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kCOh6BB0 ... re=related

The Fourth Wars - Grand Final:
We all thought it'd be a repeat of the Third Wars Final, but somehow it is Pussycat against the reigning champs instead!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O6WoPNDD ... re=related

The Fifth Wars - Grand Final:
Bigger Brother; victorious over both Chaos 2 AND Hypno-Disc, take on twice-world champions Razer...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5BUkBEkLlZc&NR=1

(stupid subtitles in the way but there wasn't another copy of the video online)

The Sixth Wars - Grand Final:
Reigning champs against Tornado; how the HELL did Tornado get away with THIS?!?!?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OZeSlQNP ... re=related

The Seventh Wars - Grand Final:
With most of the old classic bots retired for this series, it was only fair to see two different robots make it here - Typhoon 2 vs Storm 2! And a first for a Final; a rematch enforced due to Typhoon destroying the arena wall!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ko0yM5eT ... re=related

And then three from my personal favourites...Hypno-Disc!

Their debut in The Third Wars...against Robogeddon:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lzraVXP- ... re=related

Their first battle in the semi-final of The Fourth Wars against Splinter:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EhKB0bzm ... re=related

And then...THAT battle against Pussycat in the final of The Fourth Wars that had me in tears:

Robot Wars is amazing. I've been seeing it on Bravo2 as well. I think it hit it's peak at Series 4.

Completely agree. Series 4 was my favourite by far. And then the Extreme series that followed it was fairly alright but after that it just wasn't as good.

Yeah, it wasn't too bad - it allowed a lot more new robots to go far with the likes of Razer, Chaos 2 and Hypno-Disc all retired off, even Panic Attack had a new team behind it and it was nowhere near as good as when owned by the Welsh family.

Oh, and the wonderful (!) Jayne Middlemiss replaced Philippa in the pits!

I remember this, I was always supporting the house robots in the wars, especially Matilda and Sir Killalot.
