Wow... what an odd programme! I watched it for the first time last night! What was she doing? She only had to hold on for one second more and then she wouldn't have pressed the button which 'electricutes' the kitten.

What a mad programme, and that woman was stitched up good 'n' proper

People have seen the show before. They must know what they are getting themselves into when they apply (and they sign a not very legible contract).

As I mentioned in today's commentary, Derren's point about negativity would be a good one to make to the DOND contestants. Tony seemed destined to accept a trainwreck before the remark was made that he needed to be more positive (although I accept that positive or negative energy can have no effect on the contests of randomly selected boxes)

I love the show! It is amazing! He is such a clever man! Did anyone notice the number on the kittens box was 00 01? That was the time she stopped it! And all the derren symbols at the beggining?

Argh! It's Derren, not Darren! ;)

Yeah, it was really good this week. Although it'll take a lot to beat last year's fake car crash scene...

I knew it!

Why did she get up and press the button, couldn't she have played with the kitten for one second longer? It couldn't be that hard to not press it... Imagine if the kitten really got electricuted, imagine what she would be like then seeing as she was already in a state when she pressed it and the kitten stayed alive!

Because Derren Brown is the master of suggestion. He predicted that she'd press the button with 1 second left on the clock.

I watched the episode with the girl and the cat the other day on 4OD... and it's very bizarre. Must try and catch the next episode on TV tomorrow (I think it's on on Fridays).

It's quite amazing how the girl did actually press the button with 1 second to go... you'd have thought she could've lasted 1 second more, knowing that she could really kill the cat on national TV, and that there was also the opportunity to win money by NOT pressing the button.

I don't believe it was entirely down to "negative suggestion" though... I suspect Derren Brown did a little more to control what she was thinking. I've seen some of his stuff in the past and have been fascinated, scared, horrified, bemused and entertained by it... so I wouldn't be surprised if there was something else going on with that girl and the cat.

Otherwise, I find it quite scary that somoene can be so easily influenced like that.

It certainly seems more accurate. The pre-recorded shows are always twisted. I mean fir example, once he said "I'll flip a coin ten times and each time it will be tails". He just flipped the coin till he got ten tails in a row. He could've been doing that for hours.

Yeah that was in The System episode (which was actually quite crap...) and he was going for well over 6 hours.
