The second series is approaching very soon - looks set to be miles better than the first brilliant series...The Doctor's latest assistant Martha Jones features in this series, as well as a fantastic first episode debut by James Marsters (Spike in Buffy) - not to mention these rumours going around that he and Captain Jack have a wild snogfest in the very first show!!! :D

I loved the first series, this second one should be amazing! :D

I loved the first series and am really looking forward to the second.

Attractive though Capt Jack undoubtedly is he doesn't do it for me. I've quite taken a fancy to Gwen. :?

I quite like Owen actually... and Ianto isn't bad either. I prefer those two to Jack anyway. :P Oh and the show itself is good.

Really enjoyed this first episode of the new series - and it had the best opening line I have heard in ages:

'Have you seen a blowfish driving a sportscar?'

Must admit I thought very little of the first series -- Russell T Davies's idea of "intelligent adult science fiction" was just swearing & stabbings & same-sex snogging, rather than good original ideas.

(IMHO the only first series ep that qualified in the intelligent category was the one about the planeload of people from WW2).

The other problem I have with the show is a total lack of likeable characters: I couldn't care less if Owen, Ianto, Tosh or even Gwen dies... and Jack is nowhere near as good as he is on Dr Who -- cos yelling and pointing guns at people's (ie Owen's & Ianto's) heads is no substitute for quality dialogue & good acting.

Must admit, I did enjoy last week's first new ep, cos James Marsters ran rings around the regular cast (though there are many Buffy/Smallville fans on the BBC POV board who thought he was totally wasted by the script). There was a chance that a few of the cast might actually be killed off, woo-hoo!

if you look on the BBC's Points of View board, you'll see that the most vocal complaints about the show are to do with the gayness of it... so it's a good job most of the POV crowd don't bother to watch Deal or No Deal...!

Hehe!

My honest opinion was that when I heard a series to do with Torchwood was coming, I was fearing the worst - and for the first couple episodes, I was really disappointed and I hardly got into it - I literally watched it to see John Barrowman and even he as Rich has already mentioned, was slightly disappointing to see with his gun and yelling, etc.

But then I really got into it towards the middle of the series - and then once I heard James Marsters was going to be in this series, I knew this one would definitely be worth watching.

And so far, one episode in, so good! :D

Very good episode tonight. I also watched the next episode over on BBC Three, and that's very good also. I'm enjoying this series a lot more than I enjoyed the first - unlike Doctor Who, where I preferred the Billie Piper era to the current era.

Great episode today and an amazing twist in that Owen isn't out of the series. I watched the "extra" programme after last week's episode, where they interview cast members, and they were all giving the impression Owen was totally out of it now! Although thinking about it, I think they said he died... but didn't actually say he was going to be out of the show. I wonder how much longer Owen will last?
