I know there's already an old thread for this but I think it'd be better to make a new one for the 4th series which starts tonight.

I for one am looking forward to it but I know I am going to find it really difficult seeing Catherine Tate in a serious role.

Anyone else going to be watching?

Apparently she'll still be showing a humourous streak in this character, but what peeves me off big time is the new timeslot!

I'm looking forward to it! I didn't like the last series much as I didn't feel the chemistry was there between Martha and The Doctor as there had been between Rose and The Doctor. So I only saw about half of the last series, although I did enjoy the latter episodes.

I only heard a few weeks ago that Catherine Tate was the new companion for The Doctor, despite the fact it'd apparently been in the news since last August when I looked it up!

The time slot is rather odd as you'd think that the BBC would want to keep one of their "flagship" programmes in a regular slot. I notice that TV Burp has been put on at 7:20 to avoid clashing with Doctor Who.

It wasn't too bad a starting episode. Not the best, but a typical first episode of series....

Although, i can see myself getting easily annoyed by Donna...

Can I just say...

ROSE!!  :-D

Thought it was good, liked Catherine Tate more than I thought I would... loved the bit where they first met and were miming through the windows!

Would like to see it improve but not too bad a start really...

Quote of the episode for me.. "You're not mating with me sunshine!" or something like that anyway!

Oh and I didn't miss Martha one little bit!!

I thought it was a good opener to the series! I have to say I like Catherine Tate in the role of The Doctor's companion. And those little alien creatures were just adorable.

Interesting that we got to see a shot of Rose which was presumably a "ghost" of some sort judging by how she faded away. I wonder if Bille Piper filmed that for the show or whether it was just some re-edited old footage?

Thought that was a decent enough opener to the series. Bit of excitement and plenty of action; and I think I'm going to like Catherine Tate's character Donna.

Didn't miss Martha too much though I did like her appearances in Torchwood.

I'm interested in how they are going to explain Rose's appearance and how they are going to bring her back from her parallel universe. When you consider that the Doctor had to use the Tardis to harness the power of a Supernova just to see her as a ghost for a few seconds in her last episode it does seem that some 'creative' plot twist will be necessary..

I watched it last night with my grandkids and it's certainly come on a lot from when I worked on the shows in the 60s and 70s.. (no wobbly sets etc)
In an episode with Tom Baker in 1976 I was cast as an assasin to go out and kill Leela,, but the plan went a bit wrong....

Aitch,

Tonights looks great! I loved the Ood in series 2 so it should be great! Surprisingly I quite like Catherine as the partner! She brings quite a serious yet light hearted side to the show!

Amazing episode tonight, one of my favourites from the series I have seen (last series and this one), and the ending nearly brought a tear to my eye.

A very good episode tonight, and I liked how, as is often the case with Doctor Who, things went from being "happy" to quite serious when the Ood warned the Doctor that his song would be coming to an end.

Are the Ood the least scary regular aliens to feature in Doctor Who? I think they're my favourite Doctor Who alien.

Not such a good episode last night, as it's the first of a 2-parter, and I never really enjoy those as I feel they're too drawn out. I hope Martha isn't here to stay, as I never liked her that much. There was a cliffhanger at the end of the episode and it left you thinking "How will the Doctor get out of this one?" but you know he will (and probably quite easily) because there are many more episodes left yet. The only true cliffhanger in Doctor Who for me is at the end of the penultimate episode, where the Doctor often ends up in some really close scrapes.

Rose > Donna > Martha.

Yesterday was the first time I watched the new series. I went off of it when Martha was in it. Oooh, can't wait for next weeks! :-D

Martha is the only assistant I like, so last night's episode was great.
