The list was released today, the show on later this week on Channel 4.

Very pished off with the list; Nottingham is still in the top 10, up to now the 4th worst place to live (it isn't me, I swear!!! ) and then to make things worse, one of our larger neighbour towns, Mansfield, also made the top 10 worst places to live, the 9th worst.

Flamedtresses won't be happy; 2005's worst place to live, Hull, also features in the top 10, as does Middlesbrough.

Same with Nottingham - we've just had our Old Market Square refurbished and it cost £7,000,000 to do, as well as having to have two German Christmas markets all squashed while it was being done. And all for nothing!

I'm sorry but the places featured in the 10 worst are just like anywhere else - you could live in Stoke-on-Trent, Newcastle Upon-Tyne, Sheffield! All the same!!!

How rude, Islington is one of the dearest places to live, we have posh wine bars, expensive resturants and millions of celebs who like there, how the hell can we be 7th?

Newham is where Dave is from, I was there last weekend, believe me that one deserves it's postition, it's like the English Ghetto.

Oh and Phil Spencer is a sex god, that is all.

I'm so glad sheffield is not in this list :D

Hull deserves to be there I think Birmingham and Essex any parts should be right at the top along with Luton lol full of low lifes chavs and other scum.

Doncaster deserves to be in there lol. Never been to middlesborough so cannot judge.

Everything else I agree with totally.

Thats a bit harsh, Essex is underated, there are lovely parts of Essex, plus h2005 and is neither a Chav nor a low life.

Essex brings MANY bad names to my head ;) JK!!!

The weird thing is I can see why Nottingham will probably end up Superglued to the top 10 worst places to live, but compared to recent years, we haven't had as much ba stuff happening, and we've had several good points, such as the redevelopment of the Old Market Square. Oh I dunno! Then again other factors such a house prices and employment are counted too, so that would say a lot - FAR to many 18 yr olds on benefits on the streets these days...

Yes of course. ;)

Essex is underrated and does have a bad reputation when it shouldn't. Yes, there are some areas which aren't too great, but I think that's the case with every county in the country... even the "scenic" ones like Devon and Cornwall have some unsavoury places.

There are some very nice areas of countryside in Essex which you don't have to look too hard for to find. A lot of the roads are situated such that you can see this countryside when you pass through the roads in Essex... but people tend to ignore this as they don't want to admit parts of Essex are actually (heaven forbid!) quite nice...

As for the people in Essex, it's the same as everywhere else really. Yes, you get the odd "chav" and so on... but you get them everywhere. I saw plenty of them when I was in Devon and Wales this year - in fact, there seemed to be more in Devon than Essex. Also, there seem to be quite a few police community support officers around to sort out any trouble if there is any...

Let's go through some towns in Essex.

I'll start with Chelmsford. My home town. I'm at uni at the moment and just had my lunch... looking out on the river and a nearby forest... lovely scene with not many people about and a nice place to go for a walk. Chelmsford also has a very good town centre, with many shops of all sorts and is just a general nice town with a good feel about it.

Braintree - quite a good town. I like it there... not as good as Chelmsford but it's a nice little place with some interesting shops.

Brentwood - don't know it too well, went there a couple of years ago, and it seemed like a nice place to me.

Clacton-on-Sea - a seaside town so you get the usual stuff of a seaside town... but it's not too bad. Quite a nice place.

Southend-on-Sea - not too keen on this place. But then again, I don't like many "seaside resorts" in this country as they tend to be full of people wandering around buying *beep* things in *beep* shops. I prefer the smaller coastal towns... which brings me nicely on to...

Maldon - a coastal town but very different to Southend. It has an interesting history and is a nice small town with lots of character and interesting shops.

Epping - don't know it too well, but passed through it recently and it seems like quite a nice small town.

Halstead - lovely old town with lots of character and some nice buildings... also has a nice waterside bit with a water mill and an antiques centre above the water mill.

Saffron Walden - a nice old town with lots of character. Similar to Halstead in many ways.

Basildon / Billericay / Romford - don't know much about these places, but I think they have got swallowed up by London recently, meaning that they aren't really in Essex any more. So anything you don't like about these places can be blamed on London. :P

I think Srwilson is just commenting on how a lot of female essex players have acted in their games.

Donna R, Di, Lisa, Kerry, Sophie and Paul Ms wife.

As for Essex, I'm sure it has some tacky areas but some nice ones as well but I won't really comment as I don't actually know it.

Not all of it.

South-West doesn't seem to have to have any entries in the worst list :P
