I like it a lot. They've added a techo style beat to the introduction music, the music is EXCELLENT for the questions as well. After you get to the £1,000 milestone (which is quick) they play 'booming' music with 4 loud booms and a low ambience tone followed by some random high pitched things going in etc.

The celebrities yesterday didn't make it past £20,000 (All took the money) so we didn't get to see them make it to the £50,000 milestone for that new set of music.

Yes you heard right £50,000 milestone! The new setup means you only have to answer 12 questions to get to the million. I'm probably wrong but I think this is the board:

£1,000,000
£500,000
£250,000
£150,000
£75,000
£50,000
£20,000
£10,000
£5,000
£2,000
£1,000
£500

The small gap between £50,000 and £75,000 probably ensures that no lucky guesses will win the player the usual 'double' more without any chance of losing the whole lot to the last milestone. On the old setup it was always worth taking the gamble at £32,000 to win a doubled £64,000.

They've made a better attempt than DOND and millionaire haven't even jazzed up the set! They have added new graphics as well. The question 'bars' are more stoney if it were. The ask the audience bars sort of bounce up and then fall down to the vote results. One of yesterdays female celebrities squealed at it because she thought each option pulled in the same votes!

By means of an opposite opinion: I hate it as much as some people here hate the DoND revamp.

I'll concede the second-tier music (which is just a twist on what was there before) works, the ATA graphic is kinda fun, and the new prize tree isn't completely flawed (though actually, the £75,000 question is still a free shot, just a less lucrative one than its £64,000 predecessor, and the real impact is to incentivise a gamble on the £150,000 question - which would have worked quite well enough back at £125,000, actually, not least because that would have made the quarter-million question more tempting too!).

BUT! I hate the new introduction (both graphics and sound) beyond belief, the font used on the questions looks cheap (I've been told it might possibly be one of the new Vista fonts!), I hate the blue on the lifelines, and... ugh. This isn't the Millionaire I knew and loved for nine years.

And that board is correct.

I missed the debut of this 'new-style' Millionaire because I was on holiday in Ibiza for the last fortnight. I thought ITV2 would repeat it, but it looks like it's not the case...

To be honest I had stopped watching Millionaire for ages now even though I used to love the show but when I heard about the new money tree I thought i'd give it a look and I actually like the new changes. I really liked the new opening style "jazzed up" music and the look of the new question boxes though i'm so used to the old style money tree this new one does seem to be a bit more in the contestants favour. Though it's possible they might make the questions a little harder.

As much as it may look easier to get to the million (or more money in general) the questions are stupidly difficult!

It is true that they are playing for charity so they may be more cautious but the second lot of celebrities were on £2,000 playing for £5,000 and they used phone a friend and ask the audience (Used 50:50 on the last question) and still got the question wrong on top of that despite going with the majority audience vote (62%!!!); therefore tumbling back down to £1,000! This was only the 4th question!

I think ask the audience has one major flaw. If some of the audience don't know they go with whatever answer was hinted at by the player. In this case, they used phone a friend first and the person on the phone thought it could be answer D but wasn't sure. When 'ask the audience' was used 62% of the audience voted for option D. They were wrong as it was option B which lost the celebrities £4,000.

I think they need to reintroduce the 'new question' lifeline. It would really help because so far no one has made it up to the £50,000 mark! (One lot gambled but fell back to £1,000 because of an unsure phone a friend)

I think it's clever, but so obvious why they did it - because next to no-one goes away bark so they just made it 2 questions to the £1,000 milestone.

As for the money tree now, doesn't it look a lot more like the box contents of a rival game show?

The music is a LOT better!

well I didnt watch it last night but from what i hear, and will be seeing tonight[or is it only on fridays now? :? ], I wont like the new one. Plus, a vista premium owner myself, I can tell you the Vista fonts are all the ones used in XP and a few more.

And James - there was never a New question line. Was there?
Anyway, will have to wait and see, but so far this year all the gameshow revamps have made the shows crap, so i just hope WWTBAM hasnt done uexactly that.

It just makes it more embarrassing if someone does win nothing now

Yep, after watching it last night, can confirm it is one of the fonts used in Windows Vista. Shame, that.

Anyway, still like it though - but they have warped the prize ladder around a bit too much - you go pretty much no-where in terms of progress as usual until the £20,000, and then...then the drops are even higher than last time. I notice they've left the top 3 alone though, which is a relief
