I just had a look at the opening titles of Series 2 on Youtube... and most of the clips in the latter half of them were taken from Monday's episode - the shot of Ray slamming the gypsy against the car, the car turning over, Gene Hunt walking out of his office with the lights turning off as he walked along, and Gene pulling his window blind down.

It just seems a bit odd that so many clips in the opening titles would be taken from one episode. :suspect:

Also I think some of the other clips (such as Alex running along) were taken from episode 1 of this series. Is there something they don't want to show us yet about the later episodes? :ponder:

They normally do this dont they?! or at least I think they have through Ashes to Ashes, I'm not sure about Life on Mars but if they just kept with clips off episode 1 they would be a bit limited and anymore it gives too much away.

When the bloke in the prison died and they were packing up his stuff, the one bloke who walked in the room halfway through that scene seemed very familiar :Jimmy_is_great I dont know if it was just me or if Ive seen him on something else or maybe it's a BIG COVER UP! :eyes:

Can't say I noticed him. The guy who was in prison though has been in things before... I think he was in a CBBC drama about 7 years ago... it was about a shoe-shine boy who was a ghost or something?! The bloke in the prison in Ashes to Ashes helped the woman who was trying to catch ghosts, if I remember rightly. I may be wrong, but he's definitely been in a CBBC drama if it wasn't that one.

Anyway, yesterday was a better episode than episode 2, I thought. Episode 2 was very much there to introduce Gene Hunt's superior, who now seems to have a more prominent feature. I wonder if something's going to happen to Gene which will mean that this series is the last? I know there's rumours about a third series, but I don't see how they can drag it out for that long.

Also, a friend of mine on Facebook spotted that Sam Tyler has appeared on the Ashes to Ashes characters page, with a "DECEASED" banner across his picture, along with another picture of a silhouette which says "CLASSIFIED" across it or something. Don't know if those 2 pics have always been there, but it seems odd that Tyler has a pic on there when he hasn't been directly mentioned in Ashes to Ashes since series 1 has he?!

Yeah those two pictures have been there from the start but Tyler has bugger all to do with Ashes to Ashes so far so hmmm.

I do remember that ghost catching drama thing... but that is one hell of a memory to remmeber that!

I never saw the final episode as we went on holiday and I missed it. :(

Here we go! The Ghost Hunter - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Ghost_ ... (TV_series)

Ah no, he wasn't in The Ghost Hunter... it was Wild West I was thinking of (the thing with Dawn French). Not sure why I got muddled up with The Ghost Hunter. He (David Bradley) just looks like a sort of bloke who would be involved with ghosts... or even be a ghost himself.

There seems to be a lot of red things featuring in the show again... in the last few minutes I've seen red kitchen utensils, red tops, a red phone, a red clock, red furnishings, a red bed... :suspect: Also the first direct reference to Sam Tyler for a long while. :Jimmy_is_great There's definitely something fishy going on.

Oh and tonight's episode was probably the best of the second series so far! Lots of amusing one-liners and some unexpected twists and turns.

Plus a rather naughty line from Gene to the Liverpudlian girl: "... get back up to Liverpool and continue stealing hubcaps and being over-sentimental".

Brilliant episode. The dog getting shot was funny, but sick. (Poor doggy.)

Nice to see cameo appearances from Princess Margaret, Margaret Thatcher, Princess Diana, and even a written mention of Brian Capron (Coronation Street serial killer Richard Hillman) in the end credits of Grange Hill (as Mr Hopwood) on Alex's TV!

And this week Ralph Jarvis was played by John Bowe, who played Duggie Ferguson in Coronation Street - one of Richard's victims! (Poor Duggie.)

Interesting story:

Matthew Graham, the creator of Life on Mars, named Sam Tyler after his son Sam, so it only seemed fair that he let his daughter choose the character's surname. She choose Tyler, and it wasn't until a few weeks later, when the series was well into development, that he asked her why she chose Tyler and she revealed it was after Rose Tyler in Doctor Who. The BBC would probably have preferred that their 2 leading time-travel shows feature characters with different names, but it was too late now... Sam Tyler was born!

(This must be true: it comes from an interview with Matthew Graham in Doctor Who Magazine.)

Really good episode tonight with some great one-liners from Gene Hunt! The reaction of him and the others when they realised that woman was actually a man who'd had a sex change was priceless.

It was an intriguing and interesting episode overall, with some good twists in the storyline, and of course some time-travelling fun with Alex meeting her future husband when he was still 14! It reminds me of when Sam Tyler visited himself and his mother in the 1970s in Life on Mars.

Interesting development with the bloke who visited Alex too, again a bit reminisicent of the bloke that visited Sam Tyler in LoM who tried to get him to expose Gene Hunt in order to get back to the 2000s. I did notice that Gene Hunt saw Alex's visitor at the end of tonight's episode. I don't know whether that's significant or not, but I'd have thought he'd only be visible to Alex seeing as though he apparently doesn't officially exist in 1982.

And I believe it's the first time that anyone has claimed to be from "another world". That bloke implied he was on his death bed in another world, the same way Alex is!

I dont know but I have a feeling this new bloke is part of the Met or a journalist investigating corruption... but all very interesting! Still another brilliant episode and now possible only 3 episodes of the whole Life on Mars/Ashes to Ashes sage...

Yes... I suppose he could be winding Alex up to see if he can get her to crack and become corrupt, which would then probably get her removed from her position.

All the stuff about Molly wouldn't be hard to get hold of as she's mentioned her enough while being there. "Super Mac" also often said how he didn't like her and how she was trouble, so there may be a plan to try and get rid of her (and possibly Hunt too). :suspect:

Mac seemed to know about Operation Rose, which could be an operation to get rid of her. It's as if he'd changed his mind about getting rid of her though, and was warning her about Operation Rose when he mentioned it to her as he was dying in last week's episode.

Oh and I loved the Boris Johnson comments in tonight's show.

The one thing I did just remember was the Diana crash phone call... that info would be slightly harder to come by as she hasnt been muttering on about that :ponder:
