The best episodes of Coronation Street for ages tonight - finally some payoff on the Tony/Carla/Liam/Jimmy murder storyline.

"I renounced the Devil this afternoon and God smiled on me..."

Gray O'Brien and Alison King are surely two of the best actors on the show.

Coronation Street actress Maggie Jones, who played Blanche Hunt in the soap, has died in hospital at the age of 75.

She was a fantastic actress and her character was absolutely brilliant. I'll really miss her; she was one of my favourite characters in it.

More info here - http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/8391523.stm

:( RIP Maggie.

Hope they give her character a decent send-off at least!

Condolences go to her family...

Gail is a total disaster when it comes to men! At least she has been since she was married to Martin Platt.

Even before Martin Platt her first Husband had an affair then was stabbed to death outside a night club...sha doesn't have much luck with the men.
My favourite was Richard the murderer. :smt023 The one liners were fab.

I changed my avatar especially for Corrie's Siege Week, and now it's been pulled from the schedules for two nights in a row... For good reason, of course - news of those Cumbria shootings was horrific and upsetting.

I still think they should have carried on with it. I felt in the right mind to complain.

I suppose they had to cancel the episode whether they wanted to or not because it would seem a bit disrespectful otherwise and they would probably get alot of complaints if they showed it, especially just hours after the tragic events took place, and the content of the episode isn't really appropriate for obvious reasons. Some may say it's silly to cancel Corrie because it's very unlikely that the families of the victims are going to be watching it anyway but I think it's just common decency to pull the episode rather than show it and potentially upset alot of viewers. ITV are just covering their arses so they don't get into trouble.
