Well I’m a bit late with this but happy 50th anniversary Coronation Street! Here’s to the next 50 years! :smt023

What a dramatic week in Weatherfield that was. The build up to the explosion was hilariously cheesy - going back and forth amongst the characters to build suspense. The tram crash itself was well executed, and the live episode was good as well. I liked how the aftermath gave off a community feel with everyone comforting each other in the Rover’s. Good script writing as well, there was one particular scene with Betty when she was buttering slices of bread and mentioned something about the war, a very simple piece of dialogue yet very poignant, especially coming from a long serving character like Betty who rarely gets a line nowadays.

And poor old Gary, looks like the tram crash triggered off some sort of post traumatic stress for him. I hope they turn that into a storyline and not just forget about it because I think that would make a good storyline and raise the awareness of post-war stress.

BTW, to clear up any confusion about the deaths/funerals, I was watching ‘This Morning’ on Thursday and the TV soap woman said that there are no more deaths to come, which means the four deaths were Ashley, Molly, Charlotte and Jack Duckworth (which was ages ago but near enough the same time the 50th anniversary trailer was broadcasted) But you probably worked that out by now.

God I actually need a life.

The 4th death referred to in the "4 funerals and a wedding" tagline was an unnamed taxi driver who was mentioned in the live episode as being killed when the tram crashed.
