It's one year to the day since Terri took her turn in the crazy chair with box 1 after only 11 shows on the wings! Despite hitting the £10,000 and the £50,000 in the first round, she still managed a healthy opening offer of £6,100, which of course, she no dealt!

Despite having an all-red second round, her offer rose to £9,000, but her luck was pushed too far when she hit the £75,000, and her third offer was £5,000. After a good round, her offer quadrupled to £20,000... which she no dealt. The loss of the £250k in the next round cost her £10,000 as her fifth offer was £10,000... which she also no dealt. On a £750 vs £15,000 final two, Terri received a rather low offer of £3,800, which she dealt!

She dealt at the lowest offer of her game... and she had £15,000 in her box, meaning this was one of the (up until recently) rare OPLs - outright player losses - meaning they dealt at the lowest offer of the game and had more than what they dealt for in their box! :? :(

I *beep* loved Terri!!! She played an absolutely appalling game, but she was so cool..."Joan, Box 24!"

I reckon she's often forgotten becuase the very short run of shows she did - I actually thought it was funny that she made up a contestant called Joan, and there actually was one on the wings just over a week later! :)

I do think she lost her nerve in that game - she no-dealt when I would have dealt (I thought at the time the £20k was very good indeed), and dealt the insulting final offer - it's on that kind of finish where how high the blue is does make a difference to me - £3,800 isn't really much better than £750 but it's a world away from (say) £1! :)

I'd have definitely dealt the £20,000 on that board at that time - but that final offer of £3,800 was just insulting! You'd expect an offer like that on a blue vs. £10,000 offer, and even then something close to £5,000 wouldn't be unexpected.

Had I still been playing at the final offer (I'd probably have bailed out at the £10,000), I'd have no dealt the final offer as the blue was something worthwhile having if it all went wrong - if the blue had been a low blue, I'm not sure what I'd have done - I think I'd have still no dealt anyway as it was such a low and insulting offer! :?

I think Terri's game is where the term "Outright Player Loss" came from, actually - it wasn't the first time someone had taken the lowest amount available all game, but someone on Bother's Bar used the phrase to describe the way she played and it ended up sticking...

Hmm, does anyone else have a copy of Terri's game? 'Cos I was watching a bit now and her friend Kay in the audience looks a lot like...well, Kay, who played this February. I guess it might just be a coincidence, but if anyone else has it then please check to see if I'm right!

I assumed she would have known that Joan was one of the upcoming new contestants? After all they do have a group of them arrive at a time, and 3 shows filmed per day - she may well have arrived before Terri's game!

10th May 2007 marks one year since 'Smiler' Dave W played his game with box 17 after 32 shows on the wings.

He had a poor opening round, hitting 2 blues, £20k, £35k and £250k - and received an opening offer of £800 as a result! :? After a better round, his offer increased to £5,001, then the third offer decreased slightly to £5,000, which he no dealt. His game started to look better, and after another good round, his fourth offer was £10,000, which he also no dealt.

After another good round and offer of £18,000 on a 50p / £10 / £100 / £50,000 / £75,000 board, Dave dealt. He was left with a final two of 50p and £100, and a hypothetical final offer of £24, and had £100 in his box.

Despite a bad start to his game, 'Smiler' Dave managed to beat the banker and get a healthy £18,000 out of it!

I enjoyed this game, I actually thought he was quite brave to reach the £18k offer, I was thinking that he should have dealt the £10k the round before! The way the banker was on all-or-peanuts last pairs at the time, the £18k was a definite deal, it might even have been less than that on a £75k/blue last pair!

I liked Dave, I liked the way he had a bit of a cocky attitude towards the banker, and his reaction to the quarter-mill going was priceless!

And also this was the game that Buzz really made a name for himself as well! "I'LL GIVE YOU A BLUE" - £1!!! Then Dave got him to pick the next box (the one that would have been Sarah's) - and it was red!

11th May 2007 marks a year since Gary's game. Gary came to the Pound Table with box 19, after only 11 shows on the wings. After an average round and an offer of £7,000, a better second round resulted in an offer of £14,000 - which was also his third offer, which he no dealt.

Continuing the theme of 7, the fourth offer was £21,000, which Gary also no dealt! However, the next two boxes he hit were the £250k and the £100k!!! This resulted in a fifth offer of £210 on a 1p / £1 / £10 / £100 / £3,000 board - an offer which was no dealt. He played on to have a £1 vs £3,000 final two and an offer of £1,400, which he no dealt. The banker called to offer a swap and Gary took the swap, swapping his box for box 16, which was opened to reveal £1 - Gary joined the £1 club!

At the time I thought that £21k offer was HUGE, givewn banker behaviour at the time! I really thought he should have taken it, but in hindsight if he'd had an all-blue round, god knows how big the offer would have been!

This was also the game where bearded James appeared in Raj's position without any apparent explanation, that really confused me, especially as Raj's name still appeared on the name selector at the start! Maybe Raj was scheduled for that day so they gave Gary a really early game just as they did for Terri! And the fact that it was James' box that Gary swapped for made it made it more difficult for Noel to explain it! :)

I suppose if James hadn't have been there, June could potentially have been opening three boxes, she struggled just to do her own! :D

Actually on that caption, that's the 3rd round board - he was offered 14k with nothing between 100k and 3k - heck that is a massive offer! (I can think of £100 Lisa being offered £14k but with two good middle reds, and Janet being offered £14k on a similar board but at 8-box)! :)

I guess having a good 4th round, the £21k offer wasn't as generous as the previous one (in relation to the board), he'd probably have expected a bigger raise, so that's what probably tempted him to play on - very good (or cruel) banker strategy!

That was a horrible board, I really wouldn't know what to do in that situation. Dealing for £14k or even £21k and finding the £250,000 in your box would be pretty awful, but then so would the complete wipeout that Gary had!

I remember a few people calling him a mad gambler for turning down that offer, but offers have become a lot more generous since and you'd expect people to no-deal more often than not these days. After all, if you keep both to five-box you're in £70k-and-a-penny Gaz territory, and even keeping one of them you're not in too bad shape. He just got unlucky really.

This day a year ago, Susie's turn in the Crazy Chair took place - and she had box 20 after 21 shows on box-opening duty. After a good opening round and an offer of £5,000, her second round did not look so good as she hit the £250k and faced a second offer of £1,000.

After a good round, her offer increased to £10,000, which she no dealt. However, another bad round followed, hitting both the £35,000 and the £75,000, resulting in the banker offering £2,800, which was no dealt.

Susie dealt at her fifth offer of £6,125 on a board consisting of 2 blues, £1k, £10k and £50k – and in the next round she took out the highest remaining values, meaning her fifth offer would have been £125 on a 10p vs £250 board – and she had 10p in her box!
