Tell me about it!! Wow Daniel - you have a FANTASTIC memory!! Yes, 19 and 11 were the first 2 boxes on the east wing - my wing. My mum was born on 19/11 and died 19/11 and box 19 contained the £250,000. I am convinced she was "protecting" the quarter million for me, I just didnt realise it at the time!!

Yes, every one pointed that out immediately the cameras stopped rolling!!! You are absolutely right, I would have no dealt at Trevor's offer and then walked away with the princely sum of £1

In the banker's defence though, I think he makes much more realistic hypothetical offers once a player has dealt.

I dont think many of them have read this thread and I for one think it is a brilliant idea. We love to re-live the experience as much as you all do!

One year ago today, a very memorable game was played by Germaine, who came to the pound table with box 12 after 25 shows on the wings. He no dealt his fifth offer of £28,000 which was the highest offer of the game at that stage, then went on to take out £50,000 and £35,000

- despite Noel telling Bob to "FIND THE POUND".

He was left with a £1 vs £250k final two and was offered £75,000, at which point he dealt... but he had £250k in his box! He has a double page spread in the DOND book.

If only he'd left Bob or Barbara instead of Matt he'd have been the first quarter-millionaire, I'm sure - with £35k or £50k as fallback, he seemed the type who would have gone for it whatever - but sensible enough not to risk £75k with a chance of leaving with £1 - I mean you just couldn't risk losing that much money and going with nothing (even though the offer was lower than anticipated, it was still as obvious deal)!

It would have been a whole 10 months before Laura as well - I wonder how the series would have evolved if Germaine had done it?

On 8th March 2006, it was Candice's turn in the crazy chair, after 21 shows on the wings, bringing box 21 to the table with her. After no dealing her third offer of £21,000, she had a good round and was offered her fourth offer of £32,000, which she also no dealt. She hit the £250k and was offered £19,000 as her fifth offer, at which point she dealt. She was then left with a £500 vs £75,000 board, and her proveout offer was £24,000... she had £75k in her box!

An outright banker win!

DOND should NOT do hypothetical swaps. It mucks up the stats and you cannot tell if it's a proper OPW / OBW or whatever - take Bunney's game for example... there was a lot of debate over that.

Hypothetical swaps = rubbish.

This time a year ago, it was Paula's turn in the crazy chair - and she came to it with box 22, after 20 shows on box opening duties on the wings. Having jumped from a small opening offer of £1,800 to a high second offer of £11,000, her offers fell to £4,000 and then £7,000, then she dealt at her fifth offer of £10,022. Her final (proveout) offer was £22,000 on a £10,000 vs £35,000 board... £10,000 was in her box.

But Paula H was a legend! I remember her game was the first where Noel did his "The offer is £22.....with TEN THOUSAND in front of it!!" rubbish, and we all believed it because it was the first time it had happened. A year later, though, and Noel still thinks we're going to fall for it... :roll:
