On 3rd March 2006, Norma came to the pound table with box 5 after 29 shows on the wings. She dealt at the peak offer, which was the fifth offer of £26,000, double her previous offer! Her offers climbed to this point, then plumetted to £5,000 in proveout, after she took out the two highest amounts remaining - £50k and £250k! The final, and proveout offer of £5,000 was on a £1k vs £15k board... she had £15,000 in her box... but either way, it was an OPW and a good banker beating!

Aw, Norma's game was so nice after the horrors of the past two games...especially with Noel messing about with £1 and 1p coins. It would have been quite cool if she'd won £100, though...then Sam could have won £10,000 and Lisa could have won, erm, a million...

Was great to see this turnaround after the previous two games - remember Noel bringing out the pound and the penny at the start as given to him by the Banker!

This game started a run of 13 consecutive red wins, 12 of which were over £10,000 with a few really big ones in there. All to follow on this thread over the next couple of weeks...

I'm with James here, the £9,900 was ludicrous in terms of minimising payout but it wouldn't have taken a Beryl to take it. Mike's game, even Beryl might have gone to the end!

Norma's game must have been a MASSIVE relief to long-term watchers! :)

In all honesty though, it was a rather rubbish offer she dealt (in spite of it being the right decision) - With the QM, two very good safety nets, and no insulting money like 1p or £1 left, I'd have been looking for high 30s at least (enough to make a £50k/£15k decision look a loser anyway). But on the basis of Matt's game, the banker was in his extreme nasty phase then, sequences or no sequences!

And probably most people would be rather more cautious having just witnessed Trevor and Mike's games, not to mention John G and Fin not long before! :D

The 4th March 2006 marks one year since female Sam’s game – the first Saturday night primetime game of DOND – and as such, the first ever hour-long episode, with a fourth break edited in at a later date.

Sam played after 26 shows, and brought box 20 with her to the Pound Table – she had an incredible game – with a strong board, and the offers climbing – she no dealt her fourth offer of £33,000… only to take out £100,000 and £250,000 in the next round…

It looked like her no dealing £33,000 was a mistake. Her fifth offer understandably plummeted to £10,000, which she no dealt – then she had a good round and was left with a £15,000 vs. £75,000 final two… and an offer of £41,000, which, after much deliberation, she dealt at… and she beat the banker, as her box only contained £15,000!

Can I please ask "the banker" where you get these brilliant pictures from? I would love to download some to add to my memorobilia of my time on DOND.

In answer about Norma being Mummy - very sexist I know but we only had Daddies in those days. 32 (?)show John was Daddy when I arrived who was then replaced by £15,000 Gary and then he passed it over to Scottish Jim after his game. I dont know when the groups started to adopt mothers!!!

Hi Lisa!

I'm afraid I can't take the credit for all these pictures, I just found them lying around in different parts of the forum ages ago and saved them to my computer. I have around 50 pictures from February and 50 from March. If you want any, I'll be more than happy to send them to you!

Alternatively, you could get in contact with Kestral, as he keeps picture files of nearly every contestant and I'm sure he'll be able to help. :D

The first person I remember being referred to as the Mummy was Madeleine who played in November...not sure if it started before her, though.

No show on 5th March 2006 as it was a Sunday... so the next anniversary is today, 6th March, and a year ago today, Lisa (who's posted in this thread!) after 22 shows, came to the pound table with box 1. She dealt at her 4th offer of £20,000, but she dealt too soon and could have had £44,000 at her fifth offer. However, her final proveout offer was £20 on a £1 vs £50... and she had £1 in her box!

It'll be interesting to hear Lisa's comments a whole year on. Hopefully she'll be on here tomorrow.

Morning Guys - I am here!!!!

Feels weird you know. This time last year I was bricking it!!! I am not one of those people who like to see themselves on TV - I only applied to get on the show to try and win the quarter million. Do you know what, hardly a day goes by when I don't think about my game and what I would have done differently. Especially now as you see players having more courage. I also wonder if the shows recorded on the previous day, i.e. Tracey, Trevor and Mike had of had better results, would I have no dealt at 20K. Probably. But the with the memory of Mike and especially Trevor's games firmly in my mind, I had resolved that night to bow out at any thing over 20K and not take a risk. Do you think I would have been offerred £44,000 at the 5 box stage? Who knows. I only know Trevor was offerred £9,900 with an almost identical board!!

I have got a pretty manic day but I will be back later. More than happy to share my experiences with you guys or answer any questions.

Happy 6th of March everyone :)

Message for The Banker!!

If you post any piccies, no double chin please!! After cringing my way through watching 22 games, it was the kick up the backside I needed and finally, finally I joined Simming World on 2nd January. I set up a diet thread on screwthebanker.com and there are a fair few of us who have been dieting religiously since new year. I have lost 1 stone 6lbs so far, Fran who I am sure mind mind me mentioning has lost well over 3 stone (she started end of October) Arlette is there, so is Dudley Sue, Dazzling Daz, John McGill but best of all, we have the MOST fantastic support from other ex-donders who cheer us on every day and give 1 karma for each pound lost. In particular, we owe a lot to Cocky Bill and Andrew who post on that thread religiously. You know what the amazing thing is, I dont think any of us have ever met. I only mention this because I thought you might be interested in hearing a little of what goes on, after our shows have been aired We do of course have Dave to thank for that because without his site, it would not have been possible.

Okay, enough for me. Gotta work seeing as I didnt win the 250K :( :( :(!!!

Lisa you were a legend!!! For what it's worth, there's no way you would have been offered £44k on that board...he'd have forced you on like he did with Trevor and you'd have ended up with £1. So thank God you dealt - that moment where Lucy had the £250k in the box that was your mum's birthday (I think?) was awesome.

Congrats on the 20k Lisa (and the weight loss of course)! :)

I was wondering if in your game if anyone pointed out that your last five was exactly the same as Trevor's (save for having £1 instead of 10p), and so he should have offered something like £9,900? You'd have had a similar round from 8-box to 5-box too, losing your only real safety net of £50k! If I'd have been you, I'd have just dismissed £44k proveout offer as tosh - having an extra 90p on the board shouldn't make a £34,100 difference in the offer! :D

Or was it just forgotten in the heat of the moment then everyone realised later?
