Martin has box 7 today. Martin is an area sales manager for a brewery... Martin has a picture of his dad that his mum found of his first day as an apprentice...

Martin has his fiance in the audience for support today...

Martin does have a system, and it's a piece of paper with a pattern of boxes that he will take out during the game... He is keeping Jill's box until the end...

Here we go...

YES I know but it's not nice when a player has had a lot of reds before their game as if it was his game yesterday he hopefully would have gone all the way to £100k!

And the way the game is going, not too sure.

That's true, but there's nothing preventing £75k being in his box today and him going all the way to win that! (Not that I'm predicting that will happen.)

Oh great another average win you know what I'm to the brink of tears how 2008 has been going no mega wins not brave players oh no just let cowards like Geoff and Angie roam the wings and deal at some below average offer. I'm sick physically sick.

You need to be patient. This format cannot produce big wins all the time on a random selection format for a show that has to be shown in recording order. Look at Golden Balls, they don't have mega wins all the week, every week. However, they can change the episode order to produce big jackpots in consecutive episodes (see last weeks run).

Well, we've got Joyce to come. Someone who it appears will play to the end....
We shall see.
I have a feeling George will probably go quite far too.
This by no means is a put down to the other players, these two just stick out to me.

Posted: Tue Feb 19, 2008 18:59
A good show today and some random stuff with box 18.

Although as I said earlier, Noel did irritate me when he was going on about how it was a disaster when Martin dealt, even before the proveout round had started.

It just gets a bit boring when every time he tries to whip up drama by going on about how much of a disaster it is - but he goes a bit OTT and it's a bit boring now... maybe he should just do an Irish jig or something when a player deals, at least it'd be different.

Shame about the final two but 3 blues vs 2 reds is dodgy territory, and the £13,000 offer wasn't bad by any means. I think my tipping point for no dealing would probably be about £10k or less on that board...

Posted: Tue Feb 19, 2008 19:57
I think had he gone on, he would probably only won the £20,000 as i think he would have no dealt the £43,000.

Posted: Tue Feb 19, 2008 20:17
Well despite the OBW and middling win I really enjoyed that - Martin was very entertaining, and I loved his system, I think Geordie-type systems are all-too-rare and it seems as though knowing exactly what he was going to do relaxed him and made it a good fun game. The four old men are really making the wings entertaining at the moment too!

And I never seem to "bite the toad" when I'm at work - I leave it all till Fridays! :)

13k statistically was a sound deal on that board - he seemed to be fully analysing the possibilities when he dealt and didn't just "see ££££" like a lot of people get criticised of. To hit 10% chance was just plain bad luck, but in reailty, the only way he was going to get more than 20k was the gamble on 75k/blue, or deal on 75k/20k (or no-deal and win 75k of course!) - none of which I'd really like to have to do. (And I'd have left Box 1 too - I'm always scared of it and nobody ever seems to leave it as it's not anyone lucky number or anything - that's probably due to 1p Trevor's game more than anything else)!!

Well done Martin on being such an entertaining contestant - as my memory of Roy (1)'s gone a bit distant, Martin now gets my fave male from W2 honour! :)

Martin was a bit of a 'Hooray Henry' character and I thought that was a really good show. Only Reg left now from the shows I saw recorded - when are we going to see him?

Posted: Tue Feb 19, 2008 20:31
Reminded me a bit of yesterday's show. We had some fun moments, a sensible deal and a rather random, but funny, intro for box 18. I wonder who decided to put the twilight zone style effects in during editing?

Martin obviously thought about the £13,000 offer and what he might be offered next time depening on what's left. As it was only a one box game to guarantee a higher offer, it was just his luck that his system produced an all blue round after he dealt, leaving Martin with £20,000 & £75,000. Practically the same situation as yesterday.

Another good game, i enjoyed this one, although the result could have been better.

Martin was great, a real nice guy.

And the Box 18 thing was a bit weird, but i always follow it due to it being my birthday number.

Posted: Tue Feb 19, 2008 21:43
You can't legislate for the 1 in 10 chance on 5 box boards like that and £75k / blue finishes give such a wide range of offers that you can't guarantee it won't be as little as £15k so a deal was probably the sensible decision.

So you'd prefer people to make rash gambles and lose money just for your pleasure?

And I can safely predict the next response will be something like "But he won't have lost any of his own money" or something along those lines. ;-)

Posted: Wed Feb 20, 2008 01:22
With the volatility of all-or-peanuts finishes, and only a 10% chance of anything better than that, the Deal was definitely right.

Of course, he only had to go and hit that 10% chance.

And Noel only had to go and treat it like a 100% chance.

lathebault, you can have your gambling show. Or watch poker if you want to see a stream of big-money gambles (and they're a heck of a lot more calculated than the gambles you want to see). I'll watch a show which doesn't endorse fiscal lunacy, like Duel.

I agree with Lathebault. I don't read these commentaries just to see people dealing this and dealing that and being all sad and emotional you know...this is a GAMEshow, nothing else. You're there to win money and have fun at the same time. Of course, since I only read the commentaries and don't watch the show, I haven't got a clue who's getting emotional and who's not, so I may have got it completely wrong.

Anyway, welldone Mark on £13,000
