Barry's game on this Saturday afternoon.

All the boxes are back to their normal red colour.

Noel says we need to focus and concentrate on the reaction of the player when they're chosen, as none of the players know who's playing. Noel says newbie Ken is probably confident that it won't be him today... Noel jokes about the different reactions between the male and female players when they're chosen.

He's had a few low numbers so it's probably a red for him today :?

Posted: Sat Feb 16, 2008 17:14
Let's hope he does better than yesterdays game. And his box yesterday was the same as Chris's box before his game, £35,000.

His last 6 games 1 blue, lowest red £3,000. Last Saturday in his box, £75,000. Wednesday just gone £100,000. Day before, £50,000.

Barry looked shocked when chosen... he has box 3.

His name is Barry White! He can't sing and he isn't romantic though... he is unemployed but used to work in moulding car and domestic appliance parts... Noel jokes about how exciting that sounds :P

He shows a pic of his 4 kids and 2 grandsons... the grandsons picked the numbers for his system using coloured balls which they chose at random. He says 3 is his favourite number, and hopes to start a property development business if he wins big!! But he has no experience in property!! He says we all have to start at the bottom though, and Noel says you have to start at the top with the roof :P Barry says he re-did his loft and his daughter and one of her friends lives in the converted attic...

His wife Sam is in the audience. "Chanette" is her real name though but she doesn't like it - Noel says it sounds like a type of motorhome :P

Barry said he has had a lucky sign as he was in Exmouth looking at the water with his brother, and he thought his brother slapped him on the back... and apparently it was actually a seagull landing a big poo on his back

Here we go...

Noel jokes about how a 3 year old and a 2 year old have decided Barry's fate in today's DOND!

17 - George - 1p :D Perfect start

Noel says how Barry should give George a kiss for revealing 1p and Barry asks George to swap his box with Katherine :P Barry gives George a peck on the cheek!!

7 - Justin - £50

12 - Sarah - £1

22 - Martin - £250,000  :(

HUGE groans there... :(

5 - Debbie - 10p

Time for the banker after a mixed round...

It was going so well until the QM showed up

Over 90 games now... :(

Barry says "What will be will be" and that is his attitude...

The banker says it's appropriate that Noel's voice is deep due to his cold, whilst Barry White is in the chair :P The banker says it wasn't a seagull that pooed on Barry!! He says Barry was right when he thought it was the product of a fish supper...

The banker wants to re-live the moment of Barry kissing George when he revealed the 1p, and the gameboard shows the moment of when it happened, and Barry White music plays...

Say the top prize is £100,000 then this is a fantastic board. Reminds me of Sheran's board at this stage, except the 1p and 10p have already been found!!! :D :D :D

Barry goes to choose a 4th box, despite his system... the banker says he's done the first, the last, everything...

Noel says he has to point out there are other stores where shirts are available... then he changes it to "appalling shirts"!!!!

Barry asks his wife, and he says although she is a gambler, what would she do... and she doesn't want to influence him, but she's encouraging him to go on. Noel says quite clearly the banker is respecting him here... he also says how the offer's TAX FREE (where's Harry? :P).

19 - Ruth - £35,000 :?

6 - Kate - £5 :D

Noel says he loves Barry's gameplay, as even though he knows what his numbers are, he seems to be dithering before he chooses each box :P

Debbie starts coughing, and Noel wonders if he's given her his cold, so he calls a break

Posted: Sat Feb 16, 2008 17:39
Iffy game, this.

I'd love him to keep those good amounts in play, another blue or the £5,000 here would hopefully see another climb in the offer, which would be amazing for a game where the £250,000 was found in the first round!

Posted: Sat Feb 16, 2008 17:39
If this is another blue, then he's bound to win a power five today :o

Posted: Sat Feb 16, 2008 17:39
I'm watching this and it's actually quite a nice game, I'm surprised- Barry seems like a good guy and so far it's been pretty interesting- hmm, maybe it's getting better again (or is this a lucky one off?)

We're back and Noel's still coughing!!

14 - Shaz - £50,000 :(

NO NO NO NO NO says Noel

Noel says Barry has to be prepared for the offer going down.

The banker has a gift for Debbie - it's a teddy bear and a blanket to make her feel better because of her cough - Noel says the bear isn't as nice as the Paddington one they had on Tuesday night  :P Noel asks for a hot water bottle for himself...

Well that amount is what he had in his box last Saturday.

So he has had it at least once.

Noel says if you follow the game, you'll know that offer is good. Noel says the offer would look good in anyone's bank account, and Barry has to decide whether or not to gamble... his wife says that they came here to play the game. Phil says if he knocks out big money now, he'll be offered much less and will be chasing the money. Noel says Barry has money fever but £75k would change his life considerably...

Barry NO DEALS

Who cares? In a RANDOM game like Deal or No Deal, that means nothing. I really don't buy into any of your stats on what the players had in their box recently, its about this game and nothing else. Statistically, the odds of him having the 75k are as good as those of him having the tenner. Anyways, good luck Barry!

The banker's taking his time to ring... Noel says we're overdue a big win now, so the banker's thinking hard about how to deal with Barry...

Thoughtful music plays... Barry says it's a very good offer, and then he says "HELP!" The other contestants say it's a great offer... some say we haven't had a big win for a long time though... and Barry only has one chance in the chair. His wife asks where 21 is in his system, and he says it's the next box, which belongs to newbie Ken... and they're worried about him having a high number.

Barry DEALS

I don't blame him to dealing. but I just felt that it was his lucky day

His wife comes down from the audience and they say they're happy with that - Noel says the thought of Barry winning £10 was awful... Barry says his wife talking about the newbie being next encouraged him to deal...

21 - newbie Ken - £15,000

Noel says it's far from ideal, but not disastrous

Noel says if Bary been in live play he'd have been sweating now...

13 - Katherine - £500

11 - Margaret - £75,000 :D

Just when we were about to get a record for lowest-ever payout for a week, we get a much-needed player victory!!! :D

Well done Barry...you won a lot more than what dear ol' KB would have!!!

Well that was a lot better - an enjoyable game and result, although it does always make me REALLY nervous when someone leaves their job to go on the show!

Barry seemed the type of player I'd probably turn out to be, take some mild risks, analyse the board, but deal when there becomes a chance of winning a blue (and even the offers on 15k/blue or 10k/blue won't have been too clever in comparison to £12,500, so probably chased losses on those pairs). An average win but made a lot better by the good proveout!

Still not an OPW due to the 3rd offer, but it would have taken a really cautious player to have got one to deal for 14k with that block completely intact. And the 5-box proveout offer would have been more than 14k anyway! :)

And I loved the fact that his surname was White and the 1p moment with George was hilarious!

Well donn Barry, hope the £12,500 goes to great use!

Posted: Sat Feb 16, 2008 18:53
Only the second TPW of the week and still for a medium amount. Interesting that Noel made no reference to yesterday's game (or Love Week) at the beginning of today's show.

For someone who had given their job up, he made the right decision. There was only a 20% chance of the 2 box offer going up hugely compared to 50% of it going down significantly.

Posted: Sat Feb 16, 2008 20:04
I expected Wakeyism frankly, but no. And a good thing too, as even I may have turned the offer down, but I don't think so. If I had, I'd have gone to the end and swapped for ten grand anyway, so not too bad, but... yeah. Smartly played.

DOND fame at last for Exmouth! On a football forum I use the nickname 'Exmouth Seagull', it wasnt me who got Barry though.

An average show with an average payout although there were some funny moments with the seagull references etc. A nice middle-of-the-road show for a Saturday afternoon.

The first few rounds of this game confirm what I was thinking - that we're back in February-March 2007 but a year on. But a nice recovery if it can be called that, welldone Barry on £12,500.

The second most dreary and boring sum in the world.
