Viv's game today.

The Dream Factory is dressed in red hearts for the start of Love Week, Noel says this is a contradiction really as the banker is in love with his piles!! Of money :P

Haha how can that piles joke still be funny 2 years on? :P

Love week looks and sounds quite cheesy... :? prove me wrong DOND... (Have they recycled the Christmas decorations around the pound table? )

Viv has box 3 today. The boxes are all pink today... Noel calls it the love seat this week, rather than the crazy chair :P

Viv shows some piccies of her dogs, as her children hid all the pictures of them when they knew she was coming on the show :P

Noel wants to start quickly as he is eager to find out what is in store for Love Week...

Here we go...

Not too bad today, even though she had £10,000 on Saturday which is reasonable fine.

Good job it wasn't her game on Friday as she had £1,000 in her box, but then her last two games the £250,000. She has had the big one 4 times now.

And last time she had box 3, it had the £250,000 in.

The banker calls before the start of round 1, and reveals a special item, and it's the heart of the dream factory! It's a heart shaped medallion, and Viv has to give it to someone she loves on the wings, then when they are chosen the banker will make an offer!! (Think I got that right!!) Viv goes over and puts it on Derek :D

Noel tells Viv to use this heart wisely in her game...

Round 1

1 - £10,000 Kate

4 - £1,000 Steve

8 - £50,000 George

6 - £35,000 Newbie Andy

There is a big hole in the reds now says Noel

17 - £3,000 Shaz

Ditto, if a player had £250,000 on their last game, it doesn't mean that they won't have it in their game. People have had it twice in two games (a lot of them have)

Talk about building up hopes then destroying them!!

I might have taken £26k in a normal game but not with the choice of a four-box or three-box offer to come. Obviously, the misfortune of assigning that heart to the £250k was what killed that game, and the board looked too stable to bail out at four-box for anything much less than the mean...

Advert for targetism maybe? Still, at least we've seen a to-the-end game with a compelling twist, probably precisely the right time for such a game too, and I think there's still the appetite for some more. Of course, that appetite will then itself be sated, and a bit of Greenyism will be more welcome... but we shall see what is to come!

Posted: Mon Feb 11, 2008 18:36
Great twist. Really smart. Made for a great game. Very interesting and started arguments here about the best way to play. That's for me is what Deal should always do.

Hell she was unlucky. So brave to go for two boxes after the 100K went. I'd have been straight to the heart there.

Posted: Mon Feb 11, 2008 20:02
Thought Viv played her 'Derek' the right way, just very unlucky it was the £250k, otherwise she was on a massive offer which I'm sure she would have dealt at.

Very cruel, but at least she 'played the game' and got the £5k consolation out of it in the end.

Posted: Mon Feb 11, 2008 20:14
At least this wasn't another average game producing a 10k - 20k deal then an inflated proevout offer to ensure a TBW! ;-)

Really interesting twist, but cruel luck there - still at least she didn't deal the 2-box offer or swap - that would have been REALLY cruel!

At least with the Derek twist she would never got have more than 26k unless she'd played the game conventionally and avoided him completely! And I think she'd have no-dealt and won 5k if the other box at the end had been 15k or 20k anyway.

26k really does work for the banker - not only do people lose out on more if they deal, but no-dealing it seems to always go wrong too!

I detest 26k!!

But like in Christmas week, I sense a massive win coming up in the next few days, fingers crossed! :)

Posted: Mon Feb 11, 2008 20:15
That was aa excellent game and the 'heart' factor was a really good feature. Hopefully the boxes will fall kindly as the week goes on and we can get a big winner!

NB If you were in the crazy chair this week, which contestant would you give the heart to? For me it would be Bing or Sarah.

Posted: Mon Feb 11, 2008 20:48
At least we had someone who was willing to really go for it today. Once Derek revealed the 250k the game crashed, she certainly deserved a better reward.
Made such a change from all the cowardy custard players we've had recently.

26k Should die. Look at Nams game she had a really big pile of reds Brenda territory and she was only offered 26k when the average was 40k 50k.

Face it the Banker is a cheapskate.

But I miss 2006 , 2007 makes me cry thinking about it :(

A very interesting & enjoyable game today.

I like the little touches they've done for love week, like the pink boxes, the little heart decorations, the little red hearts floating above the offer and the main twist "the heart of the dream factory".

Viv was the first person to have an all red round this year, but then to follow that up with 7 blues in a row was amazing. I was so gutted when she didn't get to 8 blues in a row and I was really hoping she would get 9 in a row, not only would she have beaten the blue record but she would of been the first person ever to have three all blue rounds in a row.

The "heart" played a pivotal point in Viv's game and actually proved to be the downfall of her game, so it's not necessarily going to help players this week and the heart may actually work in the Banker's favour, as shown today.

I would of actually played the same way as Viv did today. As there was only one blue remaining against four reds I would of no dealt £26k and then would have played the heart box in the hope of finding the last remaining blue, or at least a low red.

So it'll certainly be interesting to see how this week plays out with the inclusion of this new twist. Will people end up no dealing an offer and then open the heart box in a hope to push the offer up? Or will it back-fire on the player like it did today with Viv?

Aggressive players note: games like this where the boxes fall badly and the player bravely charges onward are what make the wings all too cautious when it's their turn.

Sad. Viv played brilliantly but the boxes didn't fall her way.

Thats more like it. A much better game today.
Viv was lovely, a really nice woman who deserved more than £5,000 but played the game really well

I'm liking this week so far, nothing too drastic to celebrate it and a little added bonus to the game.

I was dreading Valentine's Week as I thought it might be overdone with OTT tackiness. But as it turns out it's quite good in my opinion, nicely put together and the twist will almost definitely provide us with some interesting games.

I really liked Viv on the wings and she was lovely in the chair - a good game today, thanks to the player, the interesting board and how it went from bad to good to bad, and also because of the Love twist.

Posted: Mon Feb 11, 2008 23:20
What a great twist and she played it perfectly. There's no point in using it before 5 box and today I would have played it at exactly the same time (wouldn't have risked trying to dodge the £250K twice before the next offer).

Posted: Tue Feb 12, 2008 13:41
I'm really not sure about love week at all... I'm not a fan of Valentines day at all and it's all a bit sort of cheesy although the heart of the dream factory is an interesting twist (I want to see someone choose it on the first box to see what happens :P )

Viv was a great player who went a lot further than I expected and played the heart of the dream factory well just unlucky that she chose the box with the big one in and it just all seemed to fall aprt from there but it was a nice end.

Well Done Viv

viv's deal or no deal game was so exciting.

what a great game! you could see her talking to her friends, i think she was anyway

i found viv's website on the internet a few weeks ago, i'm interested in spiritualists and mediums, she's actually a very interesting lady if you fancy a read. it's just a shame she didn't see Derek's box coming - sorry, bad joke.
