Dot's game today.

Noel tells a story about how he was filling his car up, and a woman came up to him and she was convinced the players knew when they were going to get picked... Noel says there are 3 reactions of players when they get picked - they cough and nearly collapse, the females often scream and the males just look shocked

Haha Dot played right into his hands there :P

Sort of OK I guess today even though she had £50,000 yesterday.

Her past 6 games, 1 blue http://www.ilovedealornodeal.co.uk/users.php?user=565

Last Friday she had the big one.

Awww Dot sounds like a really lovely lady :D Hope she does well today.

Noel carrys Dot's box 13 to the Pound Table.

She has a toy car which her grandson gave her for good luck :P Dot Livingstone used to be an Avon lady... She has a dream to take her husband Bob to Vegas, and also to see the Terracotta Army in China. She shows some pics of her family. She shows a pic of her mum Mary who died recently, and she starts crying... as her mum liked DOND and encouraged her to go on DOND...

She has two tatty pieces of paper which form her system. She has her sister Molly in the audience.

A couple of side notes: This is the first DOND I've watched in sunlight since November :P And also, Peg who played on this day last year reminded me of my Grandma who was called Dot... and this year a Dot is playing. :P Although my Grandma isn't like this Dot. Anyway, enough of this...

Here we go...

Yikes - not the start we all wanted...we're supposed to be getting a Power Five box to the table and already she's at a disadvantage!!!

What an awful start. I really hope she turns it around. I think she is fantastic.

The banker talks about Dorothy Livingstone, and he loves her and has been watching her on the wings. The banker said he loved January 08, and Dot says to tell the banker that he won't love February 08.

The banker gives an amazing stat - the total of all the boxes on the table in January last year was £1.1million - this year it was £78,000.

Banker's offer

£4,000

Dot asks some people for advice, but has a little falling out with Noel, so he goes to sit in the audience :P

Noel shouts the question from the audience, and she NO DEALS

That statistic of the box values for Jan 07 and 08 just makes me think of box fixing.. I find it very hard to believe that this disparity can be just luck.

19 - Jill - £500

6 - Furno - £50

Dot chooses newbie Paul and Noel makes a big thing out of it and starts yelling :P

Break time

ANOTHER Paul - jeez!!!

Oh let's not suggest anything...it is a new month after all, you never know! :D

Posted: Fri Feb 01, 2008 17:27
Maybe Paul is Simon's brother and they've given the family a second chance to get some money! :)

Dot is great too, but I REALLY wasn't expecting her today, but I suppose they've not had an older woman play for quite a few shows!

I wanted her to stay for atleast another week. I loved her facial expressions as she opened her box! He seems to have something very positive about her.

While we're on a break.. just wanted to expand my last point.

If the adjudicator knows what values are where - and a low value box contestant is picked to play their game.. hmmm..

I know no-one is supposed to know other than the adjudicator.. but I mean.. please... c'mon.. It's like the Noel/Katherine thing yesterday... made me think that's all.

We're back

I doubt there is any connection as the independant adjudicator wouldn't usually be near the production team who choose the player... surely?

I know, but the 1.1million / 78k disparity of Pound table values is almost too hard to believe. Just a thought, that's all.

Here's hoping she can have another good round.

That board has potential to be an eight-box two-box game, so it's tempting, but I would no deal...

Posted: Fri Feb 01, 2008 17:37
Dot says how the number 13 is significant for her as a lot of nice things have happened to her on the 13th and she has box 13...

4 - Viv - £10

14 - Bing - £100

Dot chooses Audrey and Noel asks how confident Audrey is on a scale of 1 - 100, and Audrey says 101 :P

Dot asks to do this after the break, after saying Audrey is always right...

Where has this come from? Audrey always being right? Have they mentioned it before?

Posted: Fri Feb 01, 2008 17:37
This could be a really GOOD game if this is a blue.. As long as she is of strong mind and doesn't sell out at this next offer. If it's a blue then the offer is like to be £18k or so.. so she may sell.

Finally, some promise to the board...but the 1p is STILL there!!!

Fantastic round, and a deserving offer...she will either deal this (probably because of her story) or we could be seeing a turning in the wind!

Posted: Fri Feb 01, 2008 17:43
The banker says the board is looking precarious now due to the £250k being exposed, but Audrey says she has 3 nice big numbers left on the board and she'd be happy with £20k... plus. :P The banker says he's looking at the 1p, whereas everyone else is looking at the £250k, and he says he knows the outcome and Dot says "good for him!" :P

Banker's offer

£24,000

Posted: Fri Feb 01, 2008 17:43
£24,000?

I'd possibly deal...but with £75,000 as well as £20,000 still there for backup I'd probably play on...

Posted: Fri Feb 01, 2008 17:44
I'd probably deal. If she takes out one of the top two, the offer would probably be £24,000 again at most, and if she takes out £20k as well, it would be lower...

Posted: Fri Feb 01, 2008 17:44
The banker says he thinks Dot is a little gambler playing with the big boys and Dot says her husband is 6ft tall! :P Noel says he's just passing the message on from the banker.

Nic says whilst £250k is still there, she would hate to see Dot turning down £24,500 to win a low amount. Ben wonders how many bets Dot could make with £24,500. Woodsy says that amount would get her to China several times. But Noel reminds her how the £250k is there...

Here comes a £30k+ offer...

Posted: Fri Feb 01, 2008 17:47
Noel says this is fascinating now, as either Dot or the banker has made a mistake - as the offer was made for a gambler, and Dot turned it down.

17 - Shaz - 1p :D :D

Dot screams with delight :D Noel tells her to keep calm and stay focussed, and also tells Molly to keep calm

21 - Justin - £3,000 :-)

Dot says the next box is her son's birthday, and he reckons he is the unluckiest man but Dot says he isn't really unlucky

2 - Reg - £1,000 :-D

Noel calls Reg "Captain Cautious".

Banker time...

Noel doesn't want the banker to play with Dot's mind, as the banker has asked to speak to Dot. Dot tells the banker how it's a good board, and she gives him some harsh words! Noel says there'll be red cheeks tonight :P

Banker's offer

I'd go on.

Posted: Fri Feb 01, 2008 17:51
The banker tried to play the psychological card, but he realises this isn't working...

Her sister Molly comes down from the audience to talk to her... Viv says how this could be the biggest gamble of her life and that she should think about it. Semi says he's surprised the offer is so high, if it was any less he thinks Dot would've played on. Noel says if you want £250k, you have to play for it... Noel says it's a very personal deicsion now and Dot says it's terrible trying to decide. Noel says this is a fantastic opportunity to take a gamble but £42,000 is real money when she says deal.

Dot DEALS

Whew! My decision wouldn't have been a farce, but larks no way! No way it was on the table!!! Please not!

Dot says she'd have said no swap

Noel asks those who thought she should've gone on to stand up again... :?

Noel opens Dot's box 13 and reveals £1 :D

YAY! :-D

YES! Hah unlucky Noel :P

Posted: Fri Feb 01, 2008 17:56
Wow. If she'd gone to the end, she'd won £1!

Well done Dot. Nearly great timing, just one out. Fantastic game!

So.. just 1 deal too soon.. and so £84k would have meant an OPW. But you know, I am soooo happy for her to take 42k away and realise her dreams. Congrats Dot!

Dot screams with delight!

Noel says he's happy to be wrong along with the people in the audience who thought Dot should've no dealt...

The other box is the date of her Mum's death, which is why she didn't like the number :? :?

The other box - box 7 - Semi - £250,000

Noel says it's been a delight, and it's great to start February with a £42k win :D

Noel says January was a great month for the banker and February has started with a good month for us... Noel says how the £250k could come to the table tomorrow......

Fantastic game! But the Power Five Poverty remains...

A great win today! :D

So it's still not on the table...

OK she sold the pound for £42,000 but it could have easily been the £250,000 and a mega MEGA disaster!!!

I LOVED how the pilgrims built that up. I despise it when they just sigh after the £250,000 is revealed on the table. Groans add to the atmosphere and it just feels so much more serious

That was quite a profit on a £1 box wasn't it. Imagine if she dealt £84,000 and sold the £1.

So the one time we get a bit of luck and a really good board, the player deals.

FFS!!!!

However she still beat the banker, and that is what she said she wanted to do.

I'm sorry, and I think this is harsh of me, but I think DoND needs a new host now.

In that proveout round it felt to me like Noel was trying to turn the whole room against Dot, and unfortunately it felt like he succeeded.

You're supposed to be on the player's side Noel, thanks, you ruined an otherwise good game.

Well done on £42,000, by the way, Dot, enjoy it.

I hope Simon wasn't watching. He may be crying over Dot's choice as to whether to accept an offer 420,000 times greater than what he won :?

Posted: Fri Feb 01, 2008 17:59
Yeah, maybe I should be the new host ;) :P

I wouldn't shout or rub it in

I dont agree with the new host but that game he played was much worse than the 'IT'S NOT GOOD ENOUGH' phase, it wasnt pleasent to watch seeing people cheering a bad proveout :?

I disagree! Noel made that game so good. He got the pilgrims built up for it. When the £75,000 went they gasped and groaned and without Noel's help they wouldn't have done. It's much better when the pilgrims gasp groan and scream when the £250,000 is left in the finish. It's very serious and when it's total silence people undermine how massive £250,000 is compared to whatever they dealt and its not nice, see ingerlises game.

The same applies to underclapping and undercheering, see Kirstys and Daniels game. The pilgrims have to get involved, as it involves us as the viewer.

rant over lol

A new one would do the show much good, I'm sure. They should do guest hosts for a week!

A nice win finally :D Enjoy the 42K Dot

I would have got 84K today I always said on a 250K blue finish i'd only deal if the offer was over 80K.
I suspect it would not really been that high in play somehow though.

Well done Dot!

That reminds me, apart from the christmas star special, how many games has it been since the QM came to the table? :?

Excluding Sylvia's game, 82 shows

How long since a P5 came to the table, just out of interest?

82?

Then it has to come at some point this month :?

I thought Dot might be entertaining in her game and she was! A good game and a nice Power 5 range deal. Shame it wasn't an OPW, but at least we did have tension when she no dealt the £24k, and she clearly wasn't a targetist - of which we have had perhaps too many lately.

Noel's behaviour in proveout was a bit odd. He was being fairly neutral before hand, saying how the £250k can only be won by playing for it, but that £42k is real money as soon as she says "deal". However, as soon as she dealt, he started saying he had a feeling Dot was on course to win a lot, and then he starts asking in the audience who thinks she should've no dealt. It did seem to be that Noel was trying to divide the room, and the so-called neutral host was taking the side of those who thought she should've no dealt.

Still, an entertaining game with some tension, a good payout and a bit of weird Noel behaviour - good show!

Sounds like a spectacularly good game, with a spectacularly bad display of hosting.

I'd have taken £24k (and it would probably have led to proveout offers of £60k and £120k or something *beep* like that, given how much Noel might have reacted to an *eight*-box deal going like that...) and am not certain I'd have taken £42k, but who cares? Biggest win of the year so far, a spectacularly rare Technical Draw, a reasonable risk and then a Deal... and all of that is lost in what was quite literally a funny five minutes. In the temper-tantrum sense.

Guest hosts would be a fabulous idea, simply because the audience might actually not be able to conceive of alternatives to Edmonds at this point...

I too would have dealt at 42k in her shoes well done Dot after recent shows it's nice to see someone take some real money away.

About time someone won some decent money, and she replaced MJ who also won over £40,000, plus the pound coming to the table two days in a row.

Yes! That was fantastic. Just what we needed after yesterday's disastrous game. Congrats to Dot on taking £42,000 of the Banker's money. Spend it wisely.

That statistic of the box values for Jan 07 and 08 just makes me think of box fixing.. I find it very hard to believe that this disparity can be just luck.
there is no box fixing, the boxes are lined up in front of the board in a row on the floor when the contestants go into the studio, they then choose a ball out of a bag with a number painted on it,and the box is then put in front of them straight away, there is no box fixing at all.

Exciting game today and a great result for Dot. I wasn't sure what Dot would do at £24,000 and I thought that she might deal, but luckily she took the risk of going on one more and I am so glad it paid off for her. £42,000 is a massive sum of money and whilst it's a shame she didn't go to the end just imagine if she had been left with the £1 and a low red.

Plus like last week we've also had the same amount come to the table twice in succesive shows - last week we had the 1p on Wed & Thurs and this week we had the £1 yesterday & today.

What a brilliant way to start the month. That was an awesome game!

I was suprised at it being Dot today but she was a brilliant contestant. Well done on £42,000!!

wow who saw that game coming, not me, i think she looked a bit like a female Steve McClaren, or an older Kylie Minogue today

What a great game today. Just what we needed after yesterday. I was annoyed when I came in from work at 5.50pm and found C4+1 on the living room TV and I saw Dot's 5-b ox board. Luckily I didn't hear anything so had no idea whether she had dealt or not.

NB I was checking the stats on here to double check the banker's claim that £1.1m came to the table in January 2007 and noticed Leanne was noted to have £250K in her box rather than the £100K she actually had.

Pretty good game - And a large power 5 win range win - a heck of a lot better than some of the overcautious deals we've had lately despite there being more in the game unfortunately.

Overall, well pitched offers, reasonable banker Play and contestant play and a large win. more games like this please.

Well I was amazed she turned down the 24k - but I suppose that's becuase I've got used to cautious players recently, and I thought there was serious risk in going on - but good on her, it netted her an extra 18k! That 42k was way difficult to turn down though - it was actually Kelsie's last 5 but with worse blues - and the offer was 13k more, so taking it was hardly a big cop-out. It appears the curse of women in E10 has been well and trluy lifted this year - and slao they've provided us with the two largest wins of the year so far.

Great show, well done Dot! :)

(Spare a thought for poor old Justin - not only did his nerves get taken to the core yesterday, but he got picked at a really crucial moment today!!) :)
