Geoff's game today.

Noel welcomes us to the start of another week in the Dream Factory and says we will forget all about last week's games with the new 1p club member and the other games....

Geoff has box 1 today. Geoff is from Tamworth and is retired from the Army and tanker driving. Noel asks him if he has ever rolled a tanker over, and Geoff says no, but he had one catch fire!! He said he thought he had a puncture, but when he looked in his mirror and his tyre was on fire!! He shows us a fwe pics of his family, and says he has really missed his wife... He has his mate John in the audience for support today...

He has a system written down that he did last night after coming back from the pub :P

Noel asks if he wants to go in the Hall of Fame for the fastest game ever, and calls out all of Geoff's first numbers, and then asks the banker to call, which he does

Here we go....

The banker says he had a nice weekend with the ladies as well, as he had a dream about Bing!! But she dumped him at the end!!!

Goeff goes to Reg and asks what he thinks, he tells Geoff to carry on regardless... Noel asks him if he knows how to play the game, as he has to wait for the phone now....

The banker says that there is only one thing that frightens him more than the board at the moment, and it would be to be stuck in a pub with Reg and Geoff

Banker offers

£18,000

So that could mean she's happy to take £3,000, but not happy to take £5,000? Perhaps she has a fairly modest target of £5,000...

Could have done with that last one being a blue says Noel, as the banker will be happier now... The banker says the crash begins, and now Geoff's tyre is smoking.... The banker asks Geoff's friend if he really said that his offers were tight in Angie's game, and he replies that he did... The banker says he is now in a bad mood after that comment!!

Banker offers

£15,000

Laura tells Geoff the offer was bound to go down then...

Geoff says

NO DEAL

Didn't Noel just make the "temporary hiccup" comment twice? Or was that bad editing?

Posted: Mon Jan 28, 2008 17:39
Next round

15 - £750 Viv

You need a couple more blues says Noel...

10 - £250,000 :( Ben

Martin with box 21 next, but Noel calls a break, and he wonders if this is going to follow Angie's game on Saturday and slowly fall apart!!

I thought Laura said it was 5-4 to Geoff after the first round, cos the Banker lost one of his power 5, while Geoff's was untouched.

We're back
Last box before the banker

21 - 10p :D Martin

That is what we wanted says Noel, and Geoff says he is feeling spot on... The banker says he is feeling great and spot on... The banker tells Geoff to ignore his friend, and he is worried about Geoff as he thinks he is here to play the game

Banker offers

£15,000

Posted: Mon Jan 28, 2008 17:46
Reg tells Noel that he would deal at that, as he has seen so many games go pear-shaped....

Geoff says

NO DEAL

Posted: Mon Jan 28, 2008 17:47
Next round

13 - £5 John

A great start says Noel

6 - £500 Ferno

Only 1 blue remains now...

18 - £50,000 Dot

Should be £20,000 minimum here.

Posted: Mon Jan 28, 2008 17:49
Geoff says he is excited now :P The banker says he is as well, as he likes this situation, as there is 1 huge red, and 1 tiny blue...

Banker offers

£20,000

Posted: Mon Jan 28, 2008 17:50
I was thinking £20,000 would get me out here with the loss of the £50k hefty backup. And it is £20,000. Deal for me!

That is one of those clever offers from the banker says Noel... Noel asks Geoff when again in his life is he going to get the chance to win £100,000....

Geoff says

DEAL

I'm not sure what I'd do here. Is it blue/£10k-£20k block/£100k?

Posted: Mon Jan 28, 2008 17:52
I think I would have no-dealt that. All he has to do is reveal the blue, and he's guaranteed at least £10k.

Posted: Mon Jan 28, 2008 17:52
Proveout round

11 - £20,000 Newbie Debbie - Not enough says Noel :?

8 - £10 Bing

9 - £15,000 Katherine

Banker time with £10,000 and £100,000 remaining

Posted: Mon Jan 28, 2008 17:53
Would have been impossible not to get a reasonable four figure offer at 2 box so I think I'd have carried on.

Posted: Mon Jan 28, 2008 17:53
The banker is laughing now says Noel

Banker would have offered

£44,000

Posted: Mon Jan 28, 2008 17:53
In theory this should be no more than £40k really... hmm...£44,000 is a tad high but still believable.

Posted: Mon Jan 28, 2008 17:54
Noel opens box 1 and reveals £10,000 Phew.....

Box 19 - Adie contains the £100,000

Geoff tells Noel that half the money goes to his mate, as they both applied and agreed that if one of them got on they would split any winnings with the other :D

I thought Geoff's game was going to be good, and it didn't disappoint - it was an amusing show including some funny moments with Noel, Geoff and Reg. Both the £15,000 fourth offer and £20,000 fifth offer could've been easily no dealt or dealt... an understandable decision either way.

The final offer wasn't too high in proveout, so all in all an entertaining game, but it was a shame Geoff didn't get the £44,000 OPW.

Posted: Mon Jan 28, 2008 17:59
Embarassing to be skint at that age though - if hes really skint you would not be giving half to your mate.

Yet another person goes home with 20 large. It seems that many people on this version of DoND win 10 or 20 grand. However, more often that not, the 10 or 20K wins are good deals or in-the-box (ITB) wins. Congrats to Geoff, and enjoy the money.

£10,000 and £20,000 are very common offers because they're psychological breakpoints. It was definitely the right offer for this board. Had I turned it down, I'd have gone on and swapped for £100,000, but I'm not certain I would have turned it down. And I'm generally more willing to take risks for the £100k than any other box anyway, so Geoff taking it was no mistake in my book.

£15k wasn't bad for that board either but I suspect (and rather hope!) the stability would have dragged me on.

Games like this - with witty banter, the odd risk and then a reasonable bailout late in the game - are, or should be, the bedrock of DoND, the kind of 'decent' happy game from which deviations are measured. Of course there needs to be plenty of deviations - and with the variation in luck and player attitude there always will - but this is the type of game I'd like to see more of.

Think you are right there... I missed part of what was said

The sort of steady pleasant show that just didn't ignite much excitement. Geoff was a decent and quite amusing chap but had safe and steady
written all over him; it was only the strength of another excellent board that kept him going as long as he did.

With 4 reds (including the £100k) and 1 blue I thought it well worth going on at 5 box but the all-too-familiar £20k hit the spot and it was cut and run time. Sure enough he missed out on a great position at 2 box and £44k but at least the £100k wasn't in his box.

Last of the Summer Wine just about summed up that show.

Why have we got these oldies who would deal at some silly offer come on the show. The young ones are the bravest look At Laura 250k she wasn't over 50 was she? In fact i'm not going to watch it tomorrow. I don't like this January apart from Clives game he 'rocks'.

Wheres bunney no bunney wheres a phychic no phychic nothing but these people who don't care about entertaining the millions of viewers but winning little bits and bobs. I'm dissappointed.

This was a decent game, and whilst it'll never be a classic there was enough entertainment there to keep the game going along nicely and also a game board that remained steady through out.

I didn't have Geoff down as a big gambler and as I suspected he took the £20,000 which in a sense was a good move as there was only one amount bigger than the offer. However for a gambler that board would of no doubt been an easy no deal. You had the lure of £100,000 and 3 decent back-ups and only 1 remaining blue, the odds were in your favour of a red payout at 5-box today.

Plus that was a nice thing Geoff done at the end for his friend by giving him half :)

A decent game today. Geoff was a bit of a character and £20,000 is good money. Well done!

Good win. Well done Geoff.

Not the most memorable of games it must be said, but pleasant enough anyway - the 20k offer could have been easily justified with one decision or the other - the safe players would say "Well there was only one box higher than the offer so I'm odds-on not to get more out of the game", and the gambers would say "If I take out the last blue, which is odds-on, I'm guaranteed 10 grand which is still a great sum of money". It does seem as though most times we reach a position like that, I'm always expecting a deal over a no-deal - even I would like to see a few more Wakeyists on at the moment to balance things out! :)

But I genuinely wouldn't have known what to do there.

But a shame that leaving any other box in the proveout would have guaranteed the all-too-rare OPW!

But still, a good amusing game with lots of banter between Geoff and his mate, and also Reg, who is now my current male in the line up. :)

People of all ages have the right to come on and try to win as much money as possible, look at £120K Jennifer, £75K Lynne and Rodney, they were oldies but they won massive amounts of money :-)

Having said that, we really do need another psyhic Sarah and another Bunney, but I think it's rare to find players who can replace those two

I echo earlier comments - nice chap, respectable decent win but It's a shame he didn't go on with a decent chance of removing the £10 and/or keeping the 100K.

Posted: Tue Jan 29, 2008 17:16
I used this concept :-

He had a better chance removing £10 than he did removing the three highest numbers. Removal of the £10 would have resulted in £10,000 guaranteed...

which means it was well worth carrying on in my opinion.
