Danny's game today.

Noel welcomes us to Tuesday's show with an abrupt "hello". He said he's looking forward to today's game as we got to a great start with Brian yesterday.

Noel says some people know when to sniff out a deal

Oh DEAR... yesterday he had the £100,000 in his box.

And? Todays a new day.

Well if it was his game yesterday then he would have won that as hopefully he would have gone all the way.

None of the players would ever want one of the power 5 before their game but sadly, it does happen.

Danny has box 4.

Daniel "Daniel" Gibby is from Lancashire and is a decorator. Noel asks about painting his front door and asks Danny to finish it for him - he wonders if Danny will charge him "mates rates" and he says he'll do it free of charge if he wins more than £100k on DOND.

Libby is his daughter... he used to work in a Post Office but he got sick of getting up at 4am so he took a gamble and gave it up to become a decorator. He shows a pic of his wife Karen and daughter. Noel says Karen could do better. Danny says he'd love to swim with sharks and Noel calls him a stupid prat

Danny would like to get money for his family including a little fund for Libby as well as cosmetic surgery for Karen! He doesn't have a target and Noel says he wants Danny to get over £100k!!

Here we go...

Good man. No target.

Posted: Tue Jan 15, 2008 17:23
He doesn't know where to start

16 - newbie Ben - £35,000

Yet another newbie has a big number :? :?

22 - Semi - £20,000

Gasps and groans for the audience - Noel says maybe a system would be better as he now has a whole in the reds

17 - Mark S - 1p :D

Noel says he has to kiss Mark as he took out the 1p and Danny pretends to snog Mark  Noel says that was horrible!!

19 - "Meer" Pat - £3,000

2 - Viv - £100

Time for the banker...

Posted: Tue Jan 15, 2008 17:25
Danny says he recovered from a shaky start and Noel agrees... Danny says he's happy

Noel says how his front door is also riding on this game  Banker says when Danny was selected, Claire said "Oh I don't want him to go" and on Mark E's mic said "Neither do I" ... he thinks Mark E and Danny could start a boy band that could be called Brush Life because Danny is a decorator! Or "Bay City Rollers"... Noel says he seconds the emulsion about the singing...

9 - "Big" John - £1,000

5 - MJ - £10

Noel says MJ is a silent assassin normally. Noel suggests getting out the flask to have a break - Noel wants more advice about decorating - he says he's pointing a breast over the fireplace... and talks about gaps in the local stone... and we go to a break

Noel says this is strong as he still has the power 4...

Blimey its all starting to fall apart; the £100k is looking very exposed.

Noel says we still have the £100k but it's very exposed now. Danny says he's had it quite a few times on the wings, and he hopes it's in his box now...

The banker says "BING" because of Bing revealing £250k - BANG, CRASH, BING.

Banker says Danny had £100k in box 4 yesterday...

Noel says the banker may offer a swap...

11 - Nic - £500 :D

He chooses Mark E and Mark thinks he has a big number

15 - Mark E - 10p

Noel shouts "wrong wrong wrong wrong wrong" at Mark  He says it wasn't just wrong, it was as wrong as he possibly could be with this board - Mark mumbles trying to say he's happy he's wrong so Noel calls a break

3. I just re-checked from my recording; I didn't hear what box Danny chose and the camera didn't show the number as Noel's head was blocking the box.

Noel says what an interesting game this is. He has chosen all the boxes on the east wing, and only boxes on the west wing remain - which was done by accident apparently

Thoughtful music plays. The banker doesn't believe £100k will be in box 4 with Danny for a 3rd time. Laura says he doesn't have to have it in his box - he just needs to keep it to 5-box to get a higher offer.

The banker throws in some emotion and says that Lydia - Danny's 2 year old daughter is too young to say "Daddy why did you do it" That gets groans from everyone and Danny dismisses it.

Noel asks people on the wings and it's a mixture of deals and no deals, mainly deal to get money for his family. Noel says it's a 62.5% chance of taking out £100k.

Danny DEALS

Haha, Noel misjudges the 60% chance... is he mixing it up with the 62.5% chance of keeping the biggie through round 5?

Remember, the Banker did the same error with Ed, thus earning Ed an extra 2p!!!

The other box - box 13 - Mel - £15,000

Noel says we wanted big money for Danny, but in reality he did just the right thing as £12k was the most available in the game, and Danny says he feels ecstatic :D

What a great game and what a great guy!

I'm so pleased he won a decent sum of money. More often than not, the contestants that I like go home with nothing - thank goodness it didn't happen today.

Well done Danny, you were a great contestant!

I liked Danny - he was a nice bloke and I'd been looking forward to his game. I thought it was going to fall apart after that dodgy middle round, but luckily he managed to keep the £100k in play long enough. It was obvious he found it painful turning down the fourth offer of £7,500, but it's good that he did.

It's also the first OPW by dealing since November as I mentioned before... I think there have been only 4 in total since James dealt and got one in November: Asma by opening her box (although that's questionable as her peak offer was the same as what she won so it could be a draw...), Louise by opening her box, Kenny by opening his box and now Danny by dealing! None of them have been above £20,000 so we're still waiting for that big money Power 5 range OPW! I think the last was Chris B on October 31st with his £76k win...

Anyway well done to Danny and I hope he enjoys the money. :-D

Compared to yesterdays great show todays was pretty insipid. At times I was thinking what on earth possessed them to pick Danny to go on the show over all the other squillions of applicants. A case of looks over charisma is my guess.

He was soon struggling with the big reds disappearing thick and fast and it was pretty obvious with all the talk of wife, family, work, house etc that he would be looking for a deal. And when he somehow managed to salvage a £12k offer at 5 box I knew he'd grab it with both hands.

I've come to the conclusion that Endemol are actively picking 'dealers' to play the game. For all their talk about about wanting another £250k winner they really don't want anyone to win it. They'd go bankrupt if it was won too often. Surely to god they can weed out some contestants that will gamble instead of this continual durge of tedious dealers.

Nobody seems capable of taking the slightest risk. And with yet another fortunate proveout is there anybody on the wings that will grasp the nettle when the opportunity arises!

I thought that today's game was nice. Danny was nice and we had a nice win :)

I was worried about that exposed £100,000 though and the fact that he had it yesterday in the same box and in a previous game, despite the fact it's all random the chances of it being there again, at least in my mind, would of worried me. So at least Danny didn't find it till after he dealt :) Though I was expecting an offer of £15,000 at that stage Danny had the perfect game and got out at the right time.

Posted: Tue Jan 15, 2008 20:52
I liked today's game. Danny was a really nice guy and had a nice game to go alongside it.

Yes, not a massive win, but he got an OPW, a rare thing recently.

Outright Player Win, when a contestant gets the maximum out of the game.

Posted: Tue Jan 15, 2008 21:59
Another good game today. It's just a shame we seem to be in a streak where we are getting low 5 figure wins only but 2 games in a row where the player dealt at the right time is fine by me.

Blimey, the first OPW from a deal in ages, and it still felt average - I found Brian's game much more enjoyable in all honesty. Maybe it becuase Danny would have had a get-out a 2-box whereas Brian would have had a complete disaster! The contestant does make a big difference as the games were very similar- he was pleasant enough, but not one I'll remember greatly.

Still good to see soemone deal and it be totally the right thing to do, I thought the same player, the same box number and the same amount 2 days running would be too spooky! :)

There has always been an imbalance towards targetism/caution and we're in one of these average 10-20K with occasional blue win phases.

Having said that some of that has been down to luck some of it. Nonetheless I didn't fault the deal today even though he could have gone for it and bailed at the final 2.

We just need quite a few more calculating risk takers/wakeyists and hope they bring big money to the table.

It's always been difficult to match the player and boxes and we definitely need a power 5 box win soon.

There do seem to be quite a few players recently who seem to want to get money for their family. In effect, they're targetists and are unlikely to win huge money - unless they are forced on by low offers and have good luck, or have such a strong board where they can afford to gamble.

It would be nice once in a while to have someone such as Kenny who is just going to go for it, as that is the way we will undoubtedly get big wins. On the other hand I don't particularly like players like Orry who are gamblers only because they think their dead relative will help them out. Fair enough for them to believe that, but I don't like all the blubbing associated with it, and it leaves a bad feeling when it goes wrong. If Orry's brother was helping him to win £100k and he won £1, does that mean his brother actually didn't really care about his game? :?

Still, I'm enjoying the shows a lot right now, as the contestants are able to speak about their lives without mentioning their dead cat and filling the studio with tears. Also there seems to be some more wing banter and some natural characters such as Brian from Monday.
