Brian's game today.

Noel welcomes us to another week at the Dream Factory, and talks about Natasha's game from Saturday when she had a dream of getting her family back together, but had a horrible game, but the banker then gave her a ticket to Jamaica to visit her children. :D

Brian has box 12 today. He has an ENORMOUS stick of Blackpool rock for Noel, and 2 small ones for the banker :-D He tells Noel that he has the large one as he has 4 daughters, and Noel worries that he is being stalked as Brian knows that about him :P

Brian shows us a pic of his daughter and granddaughter who are living in California, and he intends to visit her soon, so a nice win will help with that :D

Brian's wife tells Noel how they met down the pub in 1966, and her friend asked what do you see in that twerp :P :-D

Brian has a bit of a system, with some numbers he is saving...

Here we go....

Round 1

Brian gives everyone on the wings a stick of rock, but they all have to say "C'Mon my son, you can do it"

1 - £1,000 Nic

5 - £750 Viv

10 - £100 Nikki

20 - £250 Angie

Noel tells Mark E to behave next as he has wrecked a lot of games!!!

21 - £15,000 Mark E

Banker time

Sexiest Lightbulb my butt!

Posted: Mon Jan 14, 2008 17:26
The banker says that Brian's wife Joan is the sexiest lightbulb he has ever seen!! :P Noel says he thinks the banker is having a pop at her hair!!!

Banker offers

£9,100

Posted: Mon Jan 14, 2008 17:26
Brian says it's a fair opening offer...

Brian says

NO DEAL

Posted: Mon Jan 14, 2008 17:28
Next round

3 - 50p Mark S

7 - 1p Woodsy

Noel starts to open his stick of rock and makes lots of noise doing it, but he doesn't want to BREAK his teeth eating it

Posted: Mon Jan 14, 2008 17:29
Now that's what I call a cracking start! Let's see what it comes to...

Posted: Mon Jan 14, 2008 17:30
A terrific board there.

I quite like Brian; he seems a decent, happy chap. Mind you I reckon he'll deal first decent offer especially with the wife hovering in the audience.

Posted: Mon Jan 14, 2008 17:31
That's an excellent start - 3 blues, a low red and a mid red! Let's hope it continues, Brian's great!

Posted: Mon Jan 14, 2008 17:31
Well, we'll see what the 'first decent offer' is first...

Posted: Mon Jan 14, 2008 17:33
We're back
Last box before the banker

Noel says after over 600 games he struggles to describe games, but today he is calling Brian's game sweet :P

Noel then talks about the chance Brian now has of producing the dream round...

9- £250,000 :( Claire

Banker time

Posted: Mon Jan 14, 2008 17:34
...oh.

Well it's stable, the top five backups in play, and that kind of stability implies going through to at least five-box. We'll see.

Posted: Mon Jan 14, 2008 17:35
Well that was a nightmare box says Noel, and he takes away Claire's stick of rock for revealing the £250,000!!!

The banker flirts with Brian's wife again :P He says he was also shcoked at Claire revealing the £250,000 there...

Banker offers

£10,000

Posted: Mon Jan 14, 2008 17:35
Brian says

NO DEAL

Posted: Mon Jan 14, 2008 17:36
Pity about the £250k but its still a good board.

Posted: Mon Jan 14, 2008 17:37
By going up after the loss of the biggie, the Banker is either playing games with Brian or he's forcing himself into a very generous, and perhaps dealable, third offer.

Posted: Mon Jan 14, 2008 17:37
Next round

11 - £35,000 Pat

Noel asks when Brian chose his numbers, and he replies about 7 months ago, and Noel says that he could have just phoned the numbers in then :-D

17 - £10 Geoff

4 - £100,000 Danny

Banker time

Posted: Mon Jan 14, 2008 17:38
Noel says that we haven't had sting in the tail rounds for quite a while now...

Banker offers

£5,000

Posted: Mon Jan 14, 2008 17:38
Another biggie for Pat, but one biggie was to be expected this round. Two including the £100k, however, turns this into a bad board.

Posted: Mon Jan 14, 2008 17:38
What a crap game. It looked so good aswell!

Posted: Mon Jan 14, 2008 17:38
Brian says he can turn this around...

Brian says

NO DEAL

Posted: Mon Jan 14, 2008 17:38
Mmmmm. Not looking so good now. £5000 should easy enough to no-deal though.

Posted: Mon Jan 14, 2008 17:40
Next round

6 - £5,000 Sue

Noel stands behind Brian and mimics him looking at his list of numbers :-D

8 - £500 Laura

Noel looks at his list again and says we will go with this one next, and shows the paper to the camera and it says BREAK :-D

Posted: Mon Jan 14, 2008 17:41
Even with that bit of light at the end that's still got to be one of the most destructive middle thirds in the history of Deal or No Deal...

Posted: Mon Jan 14, 2008 17:45
We're back
Last box before the banker...

Newbie Bing next, and Noel asks where did we get you from!! :P

14 - £5 Newbie Bing

Banker time

Posted: Mon Jan 14, 2008 17:46
That is just what you wanted says Noel, as you have unbalanced the board into your favour now...

Banker offers

£12,500

Posted: Mon Jan 14, 2008 17:48
Brian's wife says she thinks the banker is a bit scared now :P Brian calls her down to the pound table, and she asks what is she doing here :-D Brian then asks for the question, and Noel asks why did you bring your wife down if you are not asking her

Brian says

NO DEAL

Posted: Mon Jan 14, 2008 17:49
Next round

16 - 10p Semi

22 - £50,000 Mel

15 - £20,000 Adie

Banker time

Posted: Mon Jan 14, 2008 17:51
The banker apologises for taking so long to ring, but he was desperate to see what Brian would do next :-D

Banker offers

£10,000

Posted: Mon Jan 14, 2008 17:51
A bizarre interlude, a bad round, and suddenly it's a bit dodgy.

£12,500 wasn't bad but I'd have played on.

Posted: Mon Jan 14, 2008 17:52
£10,000 will be hard to resist I think although I have to say the wife isn't exerting any pressure on him to deal.

Posted: Mon Jan 14, 2008 17:52
Especially if I had any reason to know that kind of get-out was coming. I'm out of there now in this one-box game!

Posted: Mon Jan 14, 2008 17:52
Mark E asks Brian if the £10,000 is enough for him and can he do what he needs to... Shaun tells him there is only one box better than the offer, and if he takes it out he has to play to the end...

Brian says

DEAL

Posted: Mon Jan 14, 2008 17:53
Fair call. Play it out until it's unsafe to do so. I'd have done the same today.

Posted: Mon Jan 14, 2008 17:53
It was very tempting go on there but I may have dealt, as only £10k vs £75k would've produced a significantly increased offer, bearing in mind blue vs £75k could produce as little as £15k.

Posted: Mon Jan 14, 2008 17:54
Proveout round

13 - £75,000 :D Shaun

I love a game when a player gets the money they are comfortable with says Noel....

2 - £10,000 :D John

19 - £3,000 :D MJ

The perfect round :D

Banker time with £1 and £50 remaining

Posted: Mon Jan 14, 2008 17:54
Banker would have offered

£19.50

Posted: Mon Jan 14, 2008 17:55
Noel opens box 12 and reveals £50

Box 18 ( Simon ) contains the £1

Stop lying Noel.

Well done Brian!

All the ingredients there for a great show - an entertaining contestant with the entertainment being provided by his own personality, as well as there being good banter with the other contestants, Noel, the audience and the banker. And to top it all, a fairly brave no deal followed by a deal which could've been wrong but turned out to be exactly the right thing to do, with 2 blues at the final hurdle. Congratulations Brian.

An enjoyable and happy game today. Brian was a likeable and organised chap who played the game in a very positive manner. He had his numbers preselected and didn't dither over the offers. Quite why he called his wife down I haven't yet figured; as soon as she sat down he said no-deal. But it was apparent he was going to decided what to do without being affected by outside influence. Which is as it should be in my opinion. It is his game.

If he was going to deal the £10k offer at 5 box was the time. Only the very brave or foolhardy amongst us (me :() would have chased the £75k and the proveout was perfect for him.

A great game to watch.

It was a good game but there's one thing lingering...

Noel wrote BREAK on that sheet, but on the other side was £12,000... Why was that significant before the second break?

I noticed that too. Where had the paper come from? Maybe it was a scrap Noel had used in a previous game?

I did have a quick look through the last 2 games at the time and couldn't see an offer of £12,000 though. But the scrap of paper could have been around for a few days I guess which would translate to 6 or 9 games maybe.

I'm not desperate enough to find out to trawl through all those games :?

I loved today's game - entertaining and a good win to boot! :D

A good enjoyable game with a good outcome.

There was some fun banter and comedy moments today with Brian, Noel and his massive bit of rock which he doesn't quite know how to handle :D and the new player Bing "I don't smell of fish" looks like she could be an entertaining character.

So overall I enjoyed today's game and well done Brian on £10,000.

Really enjoyed that - seeing the 10% chance of disaster hit after a 5-box deal is always fantastic, and I don't think anyone's bothered about the extra £2,500 he could have had by dealing a round earlier - that £12,500 offer was less than I expected, then the 10k was actually a couple of grand or so more than i expected, so it seemed the natural dealing point, and taking the £12,500 would have been seriously over-cautious.

But good fun as well with all the rock, and I always think old couples, when it's the man playing and the wife supporting are often entertaining!

And I also noticed how all the big numbers were in clumps - Shaun, mel and Adie sttod in a line had the 75k, 50k and 20k, and Pat, Danny and Claire had the 35k, 100k and 250k. If it was a day for a system, Thanh would have had a field day!! :)

That was a brilliant game, a great character (plus his wife..she was great as well). Just goes to show that the best games aren't always big wins.

Although, the whole "Come on my son, you can do it" got annoying, well it did for me.

What I found interesting today was the round between 8 box and 5 box. Noel seemed to react badly to the £50K and £20K going (correctly). However, would he have done the same if Brian had dealt at £12.5K and then not taken out the £75K.

I bet he would have said it was OK.

Good game - excellent proveout. :)

True Noel wouldn't but like in Stu's game the banker is being more honest nowadays to prove him wrong and the offer still goes down if the middle values are hit in the proveout but the large one remains.

He'd probably have put it up in proveout if he'd taken out the 50k but not the 20k. Actually he'd have probably done it in active play too! :)

Interesting game. At least Brian got some good money out of it. Well done.

One question, though: Why does it seem that every second or third day, someone wins £10,000 or £20,000? Those two amounts have been given away more than any other amount, both through dealing and through ITB (In The Box) wins.

Well done, use your money wisely!

Probably because they are round amounts and for a lot of people, £20,000 is a psychological barrier.
