Kenny's game today.

Noel says there is a smell of fear in the Dream FActory since Katie's 1p win on Saturday, and talks about Glenis' cautious deal yesterday.

He asks everyone to banish the fear...

Hmm... Noel's "Nikki working with buses and Kenny being a coach" joke was rather similar to "Annie's a bus driver and Igor's a coach" joke from last summer... :suspect:

YES! KENNY! Come on!

I reckon this'll be a great game!

Kenny has box 11 today. Kenny is from Blackpool, and he tells Noel that they met back in the 80's while Noel was doing his late show, and he helped do a segment on ice skating...

Kenny tells Noel a little about his circus workshops that he runs... We get to see some of Kenny's pictures, and he also has is mums engagement ring for luck... He has a card from everyone he trains, and they wrote down their lucky numbers which he will use throughout his game...

Here we go...

The newbie Semi looks like he could be good... although his name is a bit, well, odd. He's like a cross between Radio 2 DJ Ken Bruce and Matthew Kelly, so I suppose you could say he's Semi Bruce and Semi Kelly. :ponder: :P

Kenny asks for lots of support from the pilgrims

15 - 50p Geoff

14 - £5 Natasha

That is interesting says Noel, 3 of his power 5 gone, and 2 of yours...

The banker asks if everyone is enjoying themselves, and he says that Kenny reminds him of that dancing baby that was going around the Internet! :P

The banker tells Noel that Sue was hungover this morning and fell off her makeup chair!!

The banker says it's balanced at the moment

Next round

4 - £750 Shaun

6 - £75,000 Simon - There are groans for that and a NO from Noel...

Kenny calls a break, but Noel gets him to choose his box first! So Kenny picks box 5 and then calls the break :P

Ooh, he'll be no dealing if the £250k is there... he's suddenly one of Noel's favourite players of all time! :P Well with an attitude like this, this will surely be a big money payout... or a low one with such a polarised board as this one.

Kenny sounds like a man after my own heart. He says he's not going anywhere with the £250k up there. :D

It's a shame that wasn't the 1p, but you still have the top 2 in play says Noel... Kenny tells Noel that he always used to shout at the screen NO DEAL when the £250,000 was in play while watching at home...

17 - £3,000 Nikki

You want to start picking off those blues now says Noel

3 - £250,000 :( MJ

Now that changes everything says Noel, but Kenny remains positive

Shaun shouts out that an all blue round is possible, and Noel asks how as the £250,000 has just gone :P

Noel calls a break while he gives Shaun a slap!!!

That big block of blues is scary at this stage of the game!

And now with effectively a one-box game with a sizeable back-up, looks like I was right when I predicted that this could go all the way.

It's a very good offer says Noel...

Mark E asks Kenny what he would be thinking if he was at home, and Kenny says it's a very clever offer for the board and he thinks that the banker has heard him chatting to the other contestants, as he has told them that £15,500 is the average years earnings for most people...

Kenny says

NO DEAL

That would have been a deal for me at £16,000... the only final two likely to produce significantly more would be £20k vs £100k... even a blue vs £100k could easily produce a stick or not much more.

Kenny tosses the 1p he found to choose the last box

Well done Kenny, enjoy the 20K.

Posted: Wed Jan 09, 2008 18:19
How many times have we heard players say they are there to play the game or go for the big one and it all turns out to be a pile of horse manure.

Well when Kenny said the same I was pretty sure he was going to be true to his word. And he played the game exactly as I would have done : ie chase the money whilst it's up there. No doubt in my mind if the £250k had been in his box he would have won it. When the £100k went it looked like he was going to be rewarded for his bravery with peanuts but even at 2 box he stuck to his guns and the £20k was richly deserved.

So we got an exciting game, a great ending and a player, who despite not having a massive win, is up there with Lynne, Barry, Graeme, Jon G etc as one of my favorite players. Well played Kenny. Enjoy the money. You truly did deserve it.

Oh and thats given us a glimmer of hope that the £250k might be won again. All we need is a player like Kenny (an extreme rarity I know) and the luck of the boxes and it could happen.

Posted: Wed Jan 09, 2008 18:45
KENNY played the way you should and grabbed the moment and even though the 250K was not there for him he still got a great 20k!!!! and a OPW congratulations Kenny!!

Posted: Wed Jan 09, 2008 19:48
Well I thought the £8k No Deal was borderline stupid, and would in fact have taken £17,500 myself (deceptively dangerous board, and I doubt even an all-blue would have taken it past £26,000). On the other hand, you can't argue with an OPW, and we need at least some players like this, perhaps more clearly so after yesterday. And for all I know he may not even have been that reckless, and instead was simply chasing the OPW - although this recap rather suggests otherwise.

What we absolutely do not need is for everyone to 'play the game' in the oxymoronic sense of the phrase, i.e. by determining they will win their box contents no matter what. By all means adopt that approach, but don't call it 'playing the game' because it's not.

Still, fortune favoured the brave and you can see why Endemol chose him - congratulations, one of the more spectacular Rock wins and there's no lack of choice!

Posted: Wed Jan 09, 2008 21:08
Well at least Kenny stuck to his word and it's just a shame the £250k went. At least he meant what he said and wasn't just saying it for the sake of it.

I actually thought he might deal the £16,500 for a moment and then when he revealed the £100,000 in the first box I was gutted and had this horrible feeling that it was going to be a blue finish, but despite what happened Kenny played the perfect game and luckily he didn't swap at the end. I actaully thought that he may flip the coin on it to decide.

So well done Kenny on winning £20,000

I heard he was 4ft 13.

Anyway a really enjoyable show today... I have to say I think I've enjoyed every single show of 2008 so far (yes I know there have only been a few...) but they just seem more interesting than the December shows, in my view. The current 22 is also becoming more active and I do have several favourites at the moment. The newbies, such as Angie recently and Semi today look good too - so hopefully this good run will continue well into February!

Kenny was a good character and I really loved his dancing! :P Well done to him for having an interesting attitude but not one I would necessarily agree with - that being that ploughing on whilst the £250k is there is the thing to do. But that's just me... and it certainly makes for an entertaing game when we do get a gambler, and I think good boards married with gamblers would be a good thing for the show at the moment!

4ft 12 4ft 13 whats wrong with you people.

Anyway 20,000 was a lot

Posted: Wed Jan 09, 2008 23:56
Well that was more like it! Also great that someone turned down good offers and went to the end and won a large sum - should give the players some more confidence after Katie's nightmare. That was one of those "prove me wrong" games where I think the player makes at least one decision I wouldn't have (I'm pretty certain I'd have taken the 16k, and been tempted by the 17.5k earlier), but it pays off. I always want that to happen unless the player gets on my nerves, but Kenny was great, and the dancing was funny rather than annoying. (And whether that's a deal I disagree with or a no-deal I disagree with BTW) :D

I was beginning to forgoet what an OPW was, indeed it's the first one for a 5-figure sum since James in November!

And I liked his attitude to the swap as well - it was obvious that number 8 meant something to him, but he obviously was just committed to keeping his box, so he wouldn;t be too disappointed if it had the lower amount in it.

Well done!

I thought some people would like Kenny's attitude. I personally don't agree with the "don't deal while the £250K is still in play" system - what if you had £250K and 7 blues?

I think sometimes players get mesmerised by what's on the bottom right of the screen and don't take the time to look about 2 feet upwards.
