Glenis's game today.

Noel gives us a very warm welcome and he says we join him in an interesting period for DOND, what with yesterday being the anniversary of £250k Laura's game. He talks about how Katie joined the 1p club on Saturday, and how Deano had bad luck yesterday. He wants a courageous player today.

Glenis has box 17.

Glenis Morgan is from Yorkshire and she used to be an administrator, in charge of a cash office, purchasing... and other things - a real mixture of things came from her department. She shows some pics of her family. She has 3 children, 9 granddchildren and she says how one of them died 4 years ago. :( She also has 2 great granddchildren. She shows some pics of her grandkids and adores her family. She has been married 45 years and Noel asks if she can remember her husband's name :P He is called Mick

She has a little momento with her which belonged to her dead grandchild - it's a peg which looks like Mick!!

Here we go...

Glenis says she has NO financial target, and she'd like to win something nice :D It looks like she could have a shopping list and Noel tells her to talk about it later; she says she could talk ALL night :P

8 - Mark S - £1

19 - newbie Nic - 1p :D

She gets a kiss from Glenis

Noel says Glenis can't do a Katie and win 1p and Glenis says don't say that too soon until she realises the 1p has gone!! :P

Brian delivers his "COME ON MY SON!" catchphrase

1 - Brian - £250,000

Noel says that's the second game in a row where the 1p's gone followed by £250k... Glenis says she still has the £100k

13 - Natasha - £20,000

21 - Kenny - £15,000

Time for the banker...

That's a horrid opening round, except that penny. I reckon an offer of £2000 would be right.

Glenis says she wants to travel around the world and she has many things she'd like to do... she also would like to get some jobs done in her house.

Noel says the banker is sounding extremely rumbustous and the banker thinks Glenis is a bundle of love, a fabulous lady who is very pretty in pink :P

Banker's offer

£6,500

Glenis says 16 with Angie is glowing

Noel covers up the light in front of the box and Glenis reckons that's why it appeared to be glowing :P

16 - Angie - £50

18 - Mark E - £1,000

10 - Pat - Noel calls a break

Glenis thinks the offer won't be too bad as she took out 2 blues with the £100k, Noel thinks we might have to stick at it for a little longer.

The banker doesn't know what to make of Geoff, and he makes fun of Geoff down the phone

She says NO DEAL

14 - Lloyd - £10

9 - Sue - Noel asks how long it is and Sue asks what is long... and Noel wonders how long it is since we had an all-blue round, Noel says it's 1 week 5 months and 17 years :? :?

Noel calls a break

Thoughtful music plays and Glenis says she didn't expect the offer to rise like that. She says she doesn't know how lucky she feels... but she says she could do a lot with the offer. She asks for a sweep - what SHE should do, most of them say NO DEAL. Sue says she'd deal due to the recent run of bad luck...... Glenis says Sue is also thinking something but Noel talks over her :? He asks who in the audience who would deal and no-one says they would...

Glenis DEALS

Not the best deal ever I would have thought

Wasn't expecting a deal, but at least there's a 5 figure sum. Well done Glenis.

Silence met that at first and a few on the wings looked a bit shocked...

Noel says this is going to be fascinating. He says he's grappling with his very bad memory to remember the last time only 2 people (Glenis and Sue) thought a deal was the wise choice there... Glenis says she MUST get rid of the reds and asks the audience to think red, else she'll have nightmares :(

22 - Simon - £50,000

Noel says Glenis is reading this game well so far

11 - MJ- 10p

NO NO NO says Noel

6 - Nikki - £250

She said she thought she might have taken out 3 reds... which is why she dealt. Noel says we'll now find out the scale of Glenis' disappointment. The banker describes Sue and Glenis as Thelma and Louise as they were so cautious...

Noel opens Glenis's box 17 and reveals £100

Posted: Tue Jan 08, 2008 17:56
She said she SO enjoyed that...

The other box - box 12 - Claire - £500 to finish off this game

Noel says Glenis has sparkled through her game and he hopes she's enjoyed it, and Glenis says she HAS :D She says £12,500 will go a long way for her and her family and she's really happy. She says she doesn't have disappointment she dealt one deal too soon as the board could've gone the other way.

Noel says Sue is now a marked woman as it has "CHICKEN" in banker's handwriting in her file  Noel says Sue's game will be interesting and he closes the show...

A very conservative deal but a good result obviously.

Haha, a little off-topic but R&J have just said they've had a huge powercut and have only just got the power back on. They're reading from scripts because the autocue isn't on and they're in a right mess. The power might go off again... I hope it does.

When I think of all the people who would love to have a chance on this show, it winds me up when a player doesn't give it a really good go. NO WAY was that a deal at £12,500. And when she turned to Sue and "we were right"- no you weren't, you missed out on £20,000. I'm half expecting Sue to go at the first offer now.

Posted: Tue Jan 08, 2008 18:09
A very good show today - I liked Glenis a lot despite her quietness on the wings, but I knew she'd be good and was looking forward to her game. It was a shame she went a deal too soon although at least she didn't miss out on too much. It looks like Sue's show will be interesting with her advice to cautiously deal in today's show... and also Brian seems to be developing a catchphrase, and Pat's character is shining through more.

The shows now are definitely much better than they were in December - there have been mentions of death (including yesterday and today's show) but there was no crying and no sense of "getting money to compensate for the bad times" - Deano wanted money for his Mum and Glenis wanted money for her family which is great.

Well done Glenis!!

Great game Glenis but we want a mega red win we don't want little bits and bobs for this January. Last January we gave over 850,000 pounds. And here we gave out 59,600.1. Need more better.

P.S We are getting lots of young ladies and guys on :D

that was not the best deal but she sure made a good deal. :) great job on winning a large sum of money.

Another day, another death. I've finally worked out why the audience are always dressed in black. They're in perpetual mourning for contestant deaths and calamitous events.

Still nothing a handful of anti-depressants and a great game couldn't cure. Unfortunately I don't have any pills and the game was like watching a Greek tragedy unfold.

Glenis revealing that she wanted 'to go home with something nice' at the start didn't bode well for the Wakeyists amongst us so I sat waiting for the inevitable deal . It was hardly a surprise when she dealt with 3 of the power 5 still on the board. It was all the dithering and sweeps that made me laugh as it was blindingly obvious she was going to grab the money and run. It was of course too early and too much for us to expect someone to take the slightest risk on an all-too-rare-these-days good board.

The whole thing was uninspiring tedium and I'm wearing black too for tomorrows game.

For what it's worth, I thought that was the easiest OPW in weeks. At least, if we take the proveout offer of One Rock as genuine. There certainly wasn't enough risk to warrant a Deal at eight-box there, but conversely the five-box offer had to be taken with only a £75k/red offer likely to be more than £22k.

No doubt that the money will be well-used though, well done Glenis!

Quite right basicasic. What a damp squib of a game. I was really hoping she had the £75,000 after she dealt so early, just to teach her (and Sue) a lesson. I can't believe how some players squander such an amazing opportunity. Let's hope for better tomorrow!!!!

On a lighter note, today's newbie is rather cute isn't she?!?!

I liked that game. Glenis wasn't the greatest character on the wings but i liked her in that game.

Yes, i agree that the deal was a bit early, but then £12,500 is still a lot of money.

Posted: Tue Jan 08, 2008 21:14
That was one of those occasions where I was shouting "DON'T DEAL"!!! at the TV, I was expecting that £12,500 offer to be more, and I thought unless she was unlucky enough to take out two of the power 5 and the 10k, she'd get offered at least something in the high 4-figures next time.

Even not a great round saw the offer go up to 20k, and that wasn't even inflated, Jean had that configuartion iin active play, and was hardly the biggest gambler in the world!

Just as shame she didn't pick the 6th round boxes in the 5th round and shut me up completely, and 5th round deal then the 10% chance of disaster would have been a wonderful game!

Just realised that that was almost exactly the same as Jules's game last week...only difference was that Jules went for six grand more!

Irritating she dealt when she did I find it funny how one person can influence someone when the other 150 odd all said No deal!

Still not too big a disaster she only squandered £7500 but still it was hidious to watch the oppotunity wasted, I am not looking forward to sues game I sense it will be one of those evil Ghastly nasty 3rd offer deal jobs!

Noel is right Sue= CHICKEN!

Did anyone notice Noel's mistake in today's show?

He didn't ask Glenis to confirm that she chose box number 17 at random and he didn't tell her that it is sealed by the independent adjudicator who is the only person who knows where the money is!

It's because it wasn't the other 150 odd's money
I think Sue was being cautious, i don't think theres such thing as a chicken in this game

I've noticed that he doesn't ask that in every show- or he probably does, but it's edited out every so often. I assume he asks all the players that question, even if it isn't always shown.

I echo the comments earlier - overcautious 8 box deal - should have been 17K IMO.

Maybe Glenis was seduced into an early deal by Noel's rather tragic shirt - it looked like a group of 3 year-olds had got hold of it at playgroup one morning and decorated it with potato prints...

Still, an enjoyable enough game without exactly setting the pulse racing. Enjoy the money Glenis.

Well Glenis' game was interesting and despite that deal which took me by surpirse (though I never expected her to be a big gambler anyway). Considering everyone else said no deal I thought she'd go on at least one more round.

But Glenis' game was quite fun and at least she has no regrets which is good, so well done Glenis.

Oh and I don't mean to be rude but that camera shot angle they showed of a woman in the audience with the big nose (more than once) wasn't a very nice thing to do to her.
