Jules' game today.

The Christmas decorations are down and the contestants are dressed normally.

Noel talks about Glen's game yesterday and says how that it was so disappointing and a bad start to 2008. He says today will be a new game. He says the differing attitude of players when things get tough is interesting. Box 18 is absent as Natasha is unable to be here - he says she missed the bus... he says when she turns up, she's in trouble :?

This should be good... :-)

HAHA, Natasha missed the bus?!?! It's only like deal or no deal.... nothing special.

Good luck Jules!!! :)

She has box 15 today.

Noel says this is Jules' 26th game. Noel asks if she's noticed anything during her time on the wings because she's put her box the wrong way around on the table :P Her husband of 24 years, Mike, is in the audience and she says Jules is brilliant... Noel thinks this will be a marvellous game. She is a sales assistant for a retail shop. Noel says it's like shoes but something else - she works at BOOTS :P :P

Jules says she sometimes gives psychic advice :P She has a necklace which could be used as a dowsing rod and Noel asks if there is a lot of money in her box and she gets excited as it starts moving a lot  She shows some pics of her family and says her daughter Lucy is 16 tomorrow.

Here we go.

Good start, I can sense a big win today

Posted: Wed Jan 02, 2008 17:19
The new Daddy Shaun apparently does a good Prince Charles impression, and he does it before opening his box - Noel says it sounds more like Olive Reed when he'd had a few... :P

1 - Shaun - £5

9 - Laura - £5,000

5 - Danny - 1p :D

Jules screams with delight and kisses Danny. Noel said that regardless of the day, the banker would give out a bottle of champagne if the 1p was found in the first round!!

The banker phones

The banker won't be giving out any champagne. The banker says the special bus has arrived and Natasha has arrived... she apologises for being late and pretends to start crying... she takes her place on the West wing and Jules thanks her for coming.....

8 - Nikki - £1

22 - Kenny - £10

Time for the banker...

Well we are off to a cracking start.

Posted: Wed Jan 02, 2008 17:20
I reckon an offer around £14,000

Posted: Wed Jan 02, 2008 17:21
Jules goes to choose another box but Noel says a psychic should be able to know when the phone would ring!

Noel says she's had a good start, he says the phone is hot today... Noel asks how drunk Natasha was last night to still be in bed at 4pm. The banker says he likes her style... the banker calls Jules the world's worst psychic and nicknames her the Crown Jules :P :P The banker says he has a vision of Jules telling a customer who is coughing that they have Athlete's Foot  Jules says the banker's good!

Banker's offer

£14,500

How I hate box 13, now!

Posted: Wed Jan 02, 2008 17:23
Lloyd says he thinks he has a blue or a red :P

13 - Lloyd - £250,000

Noel says he loves the way Jules is choosing the boxes as she is doing it like a radar scan

21 - Katie - £250

Noel wonders if Jules can predict the break! She says she's going for number 2... Noel says he's getting strong vibes about a break and he calls one...

Posted: Wed Jan 02, 2008 17:23
Box 13 has had the 250k for the first time since Gavin's game on July 11th 2007.

Posted: Wed Jan 02, 2008 17:24
I just hate it when the £250k goes early. :( Ruins the show.

Posted: Wed Jan 02, 2008 17:26
This shows so funny! Still alot of reds up on the board and i think its going to be a big win today! well hopefully it will!

Good Luck Jules!

Posted: Wed Jan 02, 2008 17:29
Noel says he'll do something he's never done as his parents told him not to do it - he accepts a sweet from a stranger called Anne in the audience as she had been eating them during the show... Anne gives another one for Jules :P Noel eats the sweet and Anne says be careful as the sweet could rip out dentures, Noel said he doesn't have dentures. He says he can't get it down to a size to swallow it!!  The sweet, that is!!!

Jules hangs her necklace thing over Mark's box

2 - Mark - £50

Banker time...

I reckon a stick

Jules says she's still happy as she has £75k and £100k left on the board and she says she'd buy a new bed with the money, but she won't say why she wants a new bed

The banker asks about Noel's dentures :P The banker wonders why Jules didn't see the £250k coming...

Banker's offer

£16,500

Posted: Wed Jan 02, 2008 17:31
Amidst the craziness, we have a very stable board, which creates the conditions for a game that will be in active play for a while.

Posted: Wed Jan 02, 2008 17:31
A very generous offer, there... :?

Posted: Wed Jan 02, 2008 17:31
Noel says the board's stable which is why the offer's so high. Jules says that's a good offer and it would buy her a couple of beds. Noel asks about it and she says she wants a whole new bed... she says one of her dreams is to go to Australia and Noel suggests she should go on her bed and Jules says she could be the first person to float to Australia!! :P Noel says we're losing her!!

Jules NO DEALS

Posted: Wed Jan 02, 2008 17:32
Lawks, £16,500 on a £100k board? Maybe it won't be in active play for a while - I might be gone there!

Posted: Wed Jan 02, 2008 17:32
7 - Stu - £15,000

10 - Claire - £100,000

Noel tells Jules NOT to touch that remaining block!

16 - Deano - £500

Banker time...

Posted: Wed Jan 02, 2008 17:33
And the £100K goes :(

Posted: Wed Jan 02, 2008 17:34
The block is scaring the banker and as long as the game remains stable the offers will go up

Banker's offer

£15,000

Jules NO DEALS

Oh no. She's starting to dither. Keep going.

Oh well done.

14 - Geoff - £3,000

19 - Pat - £20,000

Noel says it's rising up

Jules chooses Glenis and Noel calls a break

For goodness sake, it's not her fault she reveals reds.

That was better

I'm thinking £8,000

Posted: Wed Jan 02, 2008 17:42
The banker talks about how Glen's game yesterday raised him

Banker's offer

£18,500

Posted: Wed Jan 02, 2008 17:42
He's bringing her husband down, will it effect her gameplay?

Posted: Wed Jan 02, 2008 17:43
If The Banker wants to send her away with 50p why offer an inflated £18,500?

And here comes hubby. Game over. :(

I think she's going to deal...

Posted: Wed Jan 02, 2008 17:44
Jules' husband comes down and says how even taking 1 red would send the offer down, 2 would send it way down... although she could have an all-blue round. Noel jokes about how her husband isn't influencing the witness :P Jules' husband says how he's a realist and saw what happened to Glen... quite a few on the wings say deal for her, quite a few say no deal and go on one more round... she :ponder:s some more

Jules DEALS

Posted: Wed Jan 02, 2008 17:44
I think she ought to deal - I think she should have gone a round earlier, to be honest - but she won't.

Oh.

Fifteen minutes left, this is going to either be a break after the show or one of the worst guilt trips of all time.

Ah, she's taken it, I knew that would happen

Posted: Wed Jan 02, 2008 17:46
I reckon we're going to see an undeal offer at some point... the stability of the board produces enough possibilities, blue/£50k or blue/£75k are both possibilities for undealing...

Posted: Wed Jan 02, 2008 17:47
I could see she wanted to go on. Lets hope that loudmouth husband hasn't cost her dearly.

Posted: Wed Jan 02, 2008 17:47
Banker phones and says he'll enjoy this more than ever because he thinks she really wanted to no deal, but Mike influenced her and removed the courage that was necessary to no deal - and Noel agrees with the banker. The banker believes he's going to drive a wedge between Jules and Mike...

20 - Sue - £50,000

They make a joke about Natasha not being awake and not being attention...

18 - Natasha - £750

NO NO NO shouts Noel and he tells off whoever was clapping. He says that would have got us back on track.

11 - newbie Simon - £1,000

NO NO NO NO NO says Noel...

Banker time...

Posted: Wed Jan 02, 2008 17:47
I don't think that'll be enough

Posted: Wed Jan 02, 2008 17:48
She wanted to go on? Maybe, I can't say, only she can.

She was right not to in my book.

Posted: Wed Jan 02, 2008 17:48
Mike says the offer will only be about £18,500 / £19k and Noel says Mike has suddenly got very wise. Jules says she has £75k in her box  Noel reckons she should divorce Mike

Banker's offer would've been

£22,500

Personally, I thought £18,500 was an obvious ND.

What a crash :D

Posted: Wed Jan 02, 2008 17:51
The offer included the number of a lonely hearts column for Mike... :P

Noel says her husband squandered £4k so far... she doesn't know if she'd have gone on now, but she says she has a feeling she has a big number in her box.

17 - MJ - £75,000 :D

She's choosing 4 or 6 now

6 - Namfon - £35,000 :D

4 - Clive - £10,000 :D

Banker time with 50p and £100 remaining

Posted: Wed Jan 02, 2008 17:51
She had a strong board at 8-box, so it would have had to have been probably 25k to get me out then. I would however, have taken £22,500.

Posted: Wed Jan 02, 2008 17:51
Banker's offer would've been

£22.50

Posted: Wed Jan 02, 2008 17:52
Noel opens her box and reveals £100

The other box - box 3 - Brian - 50p

Noel sends Natasha off early as she's banned from the bus and she's walking back to the hotel tonight

Posted: Wed Jan 02, 2008 17:53
£25k at eight-box? The mean was £21k!!

That's it. Following this charade in text has put me off DoND forever.

This show reminded me of January 2007, actually. The stuff with Natasha that was very random reminded me a bit of the walkout in Bearded Brian's game for example, or Noel taking Rachel outside on Christmas Day 2006... it just seemed to come from... nowhere. I'm not sure what that was about actually but it was intriguing!

I was also reminded of January 2007 because of the psychic stuff (like Psychic Sarah), as well as the huge offers she Jules was getting. The involvement of the woman eating sweets in the audience was also another random early 2007 like type thing to do. Noel's shouts of "NO NO NO NO NO" when blues were revealed in proveout, and his stunned silence when the £75k went (he was obviously ready to shout NO and nothing else) also reminded me of early 2007.

However where this show differed from this time 12 months ago is that Jules actually dealt a very generous offer (husband involvement or otherwise) and she had a blue in her box... whereas the contestants of Jan 07 seemed to no deal hugely generous offers and play on to win reds from their boxes. It was a good show today - better than yesterday's, anyway.

Shaun seems like a natural character with his Prince Charles impressions (as long as it's not overdone which it probably will be...) and this stuff with Natasha is intriguing. Overall, a good show and a good payout with a Technical Player Win to carry us into 2008. Well done Jules.

£18,500 was a good result. The psychic powers didn't seem very effective though! :P

Although I missed the very beginning I thoroughly enjoyed that game. It was a happy show with plenty of banter and no signs of tears or tales of woe.

Jules was an interesting and entertaining player who played the game with a bit of character (though I wasn't too convinced by that dangly thing ) and the boxes were not too unkind until well after she'd dealt.

The only thing that marred it as far as I am concerned was the appearance of hubby who didn't just dispense a few words of advice but gave us chapter and verse on the benefits of dealing. His domineering pontification didn't actually cost her too much, but it was obvious she wanted to go on but there was no way she could go against he-who-must-be-obeyed. So she didn't get to play her own game where I'm sure she would have won £22,500 without interference.

But a feel good show nonetheless and a big improvement over the slush thats been dealt up lately.

That felt very very odd when she took out all the reds in the final round. It was something really unusual, a player...winning? Not an OPW, they've pretty much gone for good (when was the last time we had an OPW, November? Did we have any at all in December apart from Bridget the Christmas Star?).

Much better game than yesterday's, well done Jules!

Really enjoyed todays game and all the randomness it contained.

Like Natasha missing the bus :? and then her not paying attention, Shaun's Prince Charles impression, and when Noel took some sweets from Anne in the audience with her comment about his dentures

But Jules' game was an interesting one with what I thought were some rather generous offers from the Banker and whilst I feel she wanted to go on it was obvious her husband Mike didn't which may of lead to an early deal from Jules but in the end it didn't prove that costly and ended up with a decent sum of money. So well done Jules.

Hopefully we'll continue to get more games like this that are entertaining and funny.

Posted: Wed Jan 02, 2008 20:55
Well all I can say is I'm more encouraged - a good game, interesting offers that were testers either way, and a collapse after a deal (even though it did come a round late). Jules was probably the first person to play who hadn't just lost a relative or had a relative with a serious illness since....when?

And when her husband was giving her advice I couldn't help but have flashbacks to May/June, he sounded just like 1p Adam with his forceful deal advice - so he would probably win 1p as well he he played instead. ;-)

And the proveout offer was believable as well, given the percentage of the mean - it did go up in the 5th round despite the loss of the 50k, so that didn't bother me at all.

And Natasha missing the bus - how funny is that? :)

The benefits of dealing being the fact that statistically the next offer wasn't going to go up by much (taking out 1 of the 3 was a 53.5% chance and only got her another £4k). The offers from 11 box to 5 box were all a high enough % of the mean to warrant a deal.
