Noel welcomes us to the Dream Factory and introduces the Christmas Special game and we get to see a small film about Bridget...

Here is a write up taken from the spoilers section explaining a little about Bridget...

Quote:
TUESDAY 25TH DEC

This Christmas Day, 46-year-old Bridget McNally is the Deal or No Deal Christmas Star. Bridget was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2003, and it has spread to her bones and now her liver. While battling the disease and undergoing chemotherapy, she has dedicated her time to raising hundreds of thousands of pounds for a breast cancer charity, including climbing Kilimanjaro and setting up a division of the Relay for Life charity in her area. Bridget's courage and positive attitude mirror the spirit and dedication of the late Jane Tomlinson.

Noel says to Bridget "You're a bit odd aren't you!!" ans explains about her fascination with Elvis...

Bridget gets to pick her own box to play with, and she chooses box... 7

Here we go...

Am I right in assuming they aren't showing the games in filming order?

It just seems too good to be true to have a Power 5 block unharmed by the second round twice in a row!

I knew that Alan's game was special in many ways...but this one was just as special!!!

You've got to remember it is at Christmas time, so of course there are going to be added bonuses to it - but this really is a fantastic win!

That, Big D, was self-belief.

Alan had the self-belief to decline his £13,700 offer and that too worked out!

I was thinking the same sort of stuff but I won't judge the week til I've seen all the shows.

It's just a coincidence that Alan's game was very similar.

Box 7 on the table and two perfect end rounds both shows.

Oh this just isn't fair. Just as I'm about to stop watching forever come some of the most memorable shows in months and months and months, and it's left me stuck as to what to do now!

Bridget...is the complete opposite to how I was expecting these Christmas Stars to be. Rather than miserable and sad and spending the entire game crying, she's one of the funniest and loveliest and happiest contestants I can remember in recent memory, and I think it's a huge shame she didn't do some shows on the wings beforehand as she'd have been a huge favourite of mine!

The game, well, I spent the first two thirds of it flicking between it and 'Shrek 2' on BBC1, it looks like there was absolutely loads of funny wing banter but every time I'd go back to Channel 4 I'd just miss a joke and everyone would be laughing, but the bits I did see were very entertaining! Incredibly spooky as to how it was basically Alan's game again but on a bigger scale, was very horrible how those big reds all went, but as we got into the business end of the game, Shrek 2 took a back seat and I was glued to Channel 4. And that moment where the 50p went leaving her with a power 5 final two, and then when her box was opened to reveal £50,000 (the first ever OPW with a power 5 final two, I think!), well they were just two of the most incredible moments in a very very very long time.

I loved the game, I loved Bridget, I loved the special prizes at the end (that was so funny when she yelped "ELVIS!! IT'S ELVIS!!" as if it was the real one back from the grave), I loved every single second that I saw of it, it was a classic January 2007 show but twelve months late. Very well done, Bridget, my December Show of the Month I'd say - and a Merry Christmas to all! I'm off to BBC1 to see some happy festive fun with the EastEnders!

Great game today , Bridgit was fun and pleasent very full of life and energy I think we can all learn something from people like her!

I had a feeling the boxes would fall right and she was left with 35K vs 50K No brainer obviously to no deal the 41K and when the 50K was revealed I was elated for her :-D Box 7 has two power 5s on trot.

Great game!

Well done Bridgit!!! :-D :-D Enjoy the 50K

Oh yes are these videos going to be on www.ilovedealornodeal.co.uk?

Or are they going to be left out because they're just special shows?

Possibly Mark is enjoying Christmas, Alex? ;)

And Billy, was 'Enders fun enough for you? ;)

I was out when this was on, and to be honest I can't be bothered to properly watch my recording of it - I skimmed through it and read the commenatry on here instead. It's not as if I've missed a show which will be referred to in the future, or I've missed some vital wing banter or something, because it'll be a different set of people tomorrow. What these shows do confirm to me is that I only really watch DOND because we get to know the contestants beforehand, and that is why I'm such a "loyal" viewer - in as much as if I'm out when it's on, I'll record it and watch it when I get back. I think if DOND had a different set of contestants each day (as with this week) then I probably wouldn't make an effort to watch at 4:15 every day... I remember when DOND first started wondering if the 22 came back the next day, and being pleasantly surprised when they did.

Anyway, from what I saw, Bridget was a nice and cheerful lady who had a good game...

I'm starting to wonder if anything below £20,000 will come to the table this week... although the whole 'choosing own box' does at least look fair, whether this is done with the producers/IA knowing a lucky number in advance though...

I kind of agree with this...I really liked Bridget but there just doesn't seem to be any tension at all in these Christmas games. I can't quite put my finger on why but it feels as if the players aren't particularly bothered what happens in the game, and therefore I'm not either. Still she was a lovely lady and I'm glad she got such a great win.

Given that the games aren't being shown in order and tomorrow's is on at the rather rubbish time of about 3pm, is it just me who's expecting a disaster...?

I notice Noel doesn't say "The boxes were sealed at random and the only person who knows where the money is is the independant adjudicator" - or does he say it? :? I haven't noticed it.

But anyway, if these shows were fixed in some way, would it be actually breaking any rules if Noel didn't specifically state that the boxes were chosen and loaded at random?!

These shows are also not shown in the order they were filmed - so it may well be that they're showing the high wins at the start of the week to get people fixed. This is what Golden Balls on ITV did, started by showing high win episodes, and then finished the series with more average games...

Perhaps I've spent too much time talking to KP but I noticed that Noel hadn't said anything like that, and wondered if the contestants were asked beforehand what their lucky numbers are so they can fill the boxes accordingly to prevent a trainwreck (although that still wouldn't prevent a game like Christine's or Rachel's last Christmas Day, which were more or less as depressing as blue wins).

Yeah, I thought that as well. My feeling is that they put the happy big wins on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day (An OPW on Christmas Day) because most people want to be happy on those days.

I think that the most likely airdate for low wins would be Thursday or Friday, with tomorrow being Boxing Day and Saturday being the last episode.

I do know for sure that they ask you what your lucky number is on the application form, so they presumably knew for these shows too. David J made a post on here saying that they didn't know what his lucky number was... not sure what he meant by that... maybe he refused to tell them?!

The fifth offers seem to have been rather generous today and yesterday... possibly to ensure that even if a player dealt, they wouldn't have huge regrets? Who knows. I'm not too bothered if these shows are fixed though... like I said, I'm not really bothered by this week, although I'm guessing these shows will count in the stats. :P

Stop being such a hater H your hardly a true DOND fan for shunning the one off week specials.

If you don't watch these specials then thing your a true fan of is the contestants and characters not the game, where as I and alot I am sure are a fan of THE GAME itself.

Which is most important thing really...if your a true out and out fan of DOND you will watch it no matter what ,I think.

Whats bugging me more is will 100K be on the table tomorrow ?? hmm

I applaud these contestants so far they are not afraid and are grabbing the moment hence large wins.

One difference though. I remember the first half of the title :)

Yer but these people so far have realised theres plenty of money in their games potentially and grabbed the moment.
Infact I was expecting this from them after what they been through losing on a freaking game is not going to really frighten them.

I never said I hated these shows. I am watching these specials, in fact I am commentating three of them, but what I'm saying is if I miss one (as with today), I'm not hugely bothered as it's not a normal show and therefore I won't miss any important wing banter or anything.

I do care about the game which is why I skimmed through the show and read the commentary on here. But the contestants do play a huge part for me - I'm not a fan of gameshows normally, so it's a surprise to me that I'm so hooked on DOND.

and even if they are losing/winning almost nothing anyway, they'll probably get some bonus at the end.

It's intruiging this week anyway, I'll watch to the end until making a full judgement, it's unusual and interesting.

Fair enough!

Ill be fair and say I am sure the 75k and 50k being on the table was coincidence but if another power 5 is there tomorrow some...suspicions might start coming into my mind.

I am certainly not implying fixing to the extent for them to win whats in the box but its there to ensure a good payout.

As for gameshows I love alot of em mainly the classics though so maybe theres the contrast lol.

again, im going to say the same as yesterday, i loved that show, one of the best in along time, i was cheering my head off when the last blue went, was so happy for her. Enjoy £50,000!!!!

and again, if you dont like these shows dont keep going on and on about not liking it and explaining why on every single show, cause ur making it sound like you dont want these specials at all! So please can people stop going on and on, once or twice is great but please not over and over! My Opinion

Hmmmm. Both of the players that have had terrible luck in their lives are doing really well on a game of luck aren't they?

I really liked this show and now I want to watch tomorrows. I didn't want to watch anymore if they would be like yesterdays but the contestant did really well and won me over.

Another great game today and so similar to yesterday. A good start followed by seeming to take all the power 5 mid game and then hitting the 1 in 10 perfect round at 5 box.

This will probably be the biggest win of this week. C4 would hardly be likely to put a depressing game on Christmas Day when they had a choice.

As someone who was nominated to be a Christmas star i would of been thrilled to be part of the whole concept of it.. The opening videos our very tear jerky and when I was looking at her sons and daughter I got a bit teary and again with the person that nominated them... All in all I love people with grit and fight "CANCER" with courage and she looked like a lady I would like to share my experiences with

All the best Bridget enjoy that 50k

I watched today's show just now as I was bored. :P It was a good show really - there was some good wing banter. But I don't think this star thing goes with DOND, but I don't know why. I think it's because the banker's supposed to be a nasty person and these are people who you can't (in theory) be against - so the banker being nasty wouldn't work. It's why charity specials would never work in my opinion.

I'm undecided about these shows - it's like DOND but it isn't in a strange sort of way. Either way, I'm looking forward to the rest of the shows with interest, and indeed I am commentating tomorrow's, Thursday's and Saturday's, so I'll definitely be watching the rest of them. :P :P

In one round he only open 2 boxes and get an offer.

Posted: Wed Dec 26, 2007 15:21
It's still strange seeing DOND with different people on everyday and a person you don't really know, unlike a normal contestant who you 'get to know' over 20 odd shows or 3-4 weeks. There's no relationship building between the Banker & Noel which is something I like to see (though with their recent editing attempts they seem to favour certain players and ignore others who potentially could be fun).

But i'm certainly finding the week interesting and altogether better than I imagined.

Though a friend of mine also said that the shows could be fixed in the players favour, which I said they would never do (and after all the recent furore of TV cons surely they wouldn't). So i'm inclined to believe that it's all above board.

I only caught the last part of this game, but I noticed something on the end credits. It said the guy that played Elvis was called Steve (can't remember what his surname was). Wasn't there a contestant called Steve who was an Elvis impersonator? Is it the same guy?

Checking out the official DOND site I see they have a news story about each of the Christmas Star players so far and how their game went. But I was checking out Bridget's game analysis when I realised that some of what they have written about the game wasn't shown on screen. I just find it a bit strange that they edited out certain comments from the show but they still include it in their news story.

DOND official site wrote:
Bridget’s Game

Despite all her hardship in life Bridget has always wanted to ask Noel a question. “Are you a Boob or leg man?” Noel ignored the question and went on to say that there are 22 identically sealed boxes Bridget asks “if that means they all contain £250,000” So it was a cheeky start going into round one. Bridget choose box number 7, which is her favourite/lucky number. She said that she doesn’t have a financial target and just wants to pay the game and see how it goes.

The first round was decent with the £100, £5,000, £750 and £20,000 all being hit. When asked what was Bridget’s ‘big smile’ she bent down and showed her bum, which was the Banker’s cue to ring and say, ”I normally like wiping smiles off of people but that smile didn’t need a wipe.” Bridget’s date with the Banker would involve a nice meal and then if he was to stay the night she would give a pretty good message. The banker said “A pretty good massage?” – DEAL. The serious offer was £8,800 – NO DEAL.
