Well in 2007 and 2008, they started the Santa vs Scrooge specials on the Monday of the week before Christmas, and the actual shows during Christmas were the Star shows.

I thought the 2006 Christmas specials had a really good atmosphere - an atmosphere which the 2007 and 2008 Star specials didn't have, in my opinion. So it'll be good to (hopefully) have normal DoND episodes airing over this Christmas period!

It'd be nice if (as with 2006), they were primetime evening specials, but I doubt that'll be the case as they haven't had any primetime specials for ages. In fact, I think the last time they had any were for the aforementioned 2006 Christmas specials!

Right, I've managed to eventually get booked up for early October after some negotiation - and it's another 2-day trip for me! :D

The shows on the Monday will be (by my calculations) 14th, 15th and 16th December, which is probably too early for Scrooge vs Santa, and it's not been mentioned to me.

Logically, you'd think they'd start the specials at the start of the week, so maybe 21st through to 27th will be S v S, not sure if Xmas Stars will figure this year.

Anyway, looking forward to it!

See you there then, are you with your friend again or on your own?

Are they booking for October 26th already?! (tempting...) Of course, that'll mean they're only having a one week break after the first batch of shows, whereas last year they had 2 week breaks in the run up to xmas.

You were so lucky to see Alice's game live - I bet that was a real treat, and it was great that all the pilgrims kept it quiet (as they should do anyway of course, but still...) - and as I had recently been and not heard anything from the production team, I felt sure she was going to win the penny, as a jackpot win surely would've been spoilt! I think that's the most shocked I've ever been during an episode!

Do you have to travel far to get to the studios, Wokoman? For me and Collydolly it takes about 3 hours (coming from totally different directions!), which is fine for me really except I can't get down there as often as I might like!

I filled out the audience form on the 14th September and I still haven't had any call back, is there any other way of booking tickets?

Also I will be in Bristol on the 9th/10th November, anyone know if they are filming or on a break then?

Thanks :)

It's not too bad! I come from the midlands, and it takes 2 hours from Wolverhampton usually (By train, I usually go on a Tuesday, Wednesday or a Thursday, the train at Wolverhampton is 6:41, change at Birmingham, getting to Bristol about 8:45)

Alice's game was utterly awesome! A lot of very good bits were edited out of the BG decision, including the banker sending something very helpful down (a 1p coin), followed by Lisa's "Alice, that's a lucky penny" line :P

Wanting to apply for tickets but living in Leeds and not having public transport, getting to Bristol for 9am is an impossiblity and I don't really want to travel all the way down for 1 show in the afternoon? I know there is a Holiday Inn opposite the train station but does anyone know any cheaper hotels nearby?

There's always the Travelodge in Bristol which is cheap if you book far enough in advance, but I think it's quite a lengthy walk from their to the studio (I suppose you could get a taxi though).

Somebody I know has booked tickets for 29th October. It looks like it will be the old system, two weeks on, followed by a dark week.

Yes, I will be seeing 3 shows on 5th October, and also saw 3 back in March, and with staying overnight, there is no worries about missing the last train link back.

Probably not filming, I'm afraid, given we know they'll be filming week starting 26th October, so they'll also film week starting 3rd November and have the following week off.

On Mondays, they start around 12 which might be better for you. They run 2 shows 12-5 and 1 from 5-8. Although I think Mondays are more popular due to this later start allowing more long-distance pilgrims to come.

Travelodge is the option I tend to use, as they're fairly reliable and cheap. I got a room for £19 quite a while back, although near to the dates they can go up to £40 or more (although that's still less than the Holiday Inn). The walk to the studios is about 30-40 mins, but the route's fairly simple as you just follow signs for TM station.

Got tickets for morning and afternoon on Tues 3rd November. Got 2 options for £40ish hotel rooms (one the Ibis near the station and one a guesthouse which isn't too far away from the studios)

Well, that worked out quite well, really! - I got to meet up with everyone who was going from the forum in some form at least. I sat with Collydolly for the first 2 shows, Wokoman was fairly near to us I think, but I didn't end up chatting to him (sorry!). Later on, I caught up with Kanga, and I also saw '1000+ shows' Lyn - an extraordinary feat, she's practically made being a pilgrim a full-time occupation! (at least it gives good summer holidays! )

I also sat with someone else, but I really couldn't say... ;)
