Julie says "I screwed you!" at the phone!

Banker's offer would've been:

£20

Noel ponders if Julie's just become businesswoman of the year...

Noel opens Julie's box 11 and reveals she had just 1p all along!

Box 20 with Aileen has £50

What a birthday! :biggrin

Haven't seen this, but it sounds remarkable. You certainly wouldn't get a leap in the offer like that nowadays, certainly not with the 1p still there!

Am I right in thinking that was the most the 1p had been sold for until 88k Alex in October 2010?

Yup - Julie's game became the largest proportional victory over the banker, selling her box for 3.3 million times its worth - a record she would hold for over 1300 games and nearly 5 years!

FINALLY saw that in all it's glory. Wonderful game for a brilliant (and very pretty!) contestant but terrible banker play in all truth. Offered far too much at 5-box considering, but he mustn't have thought she only put £5k in the book.

Would have been great to have seen Geordie's contribution apart from the "down the pub" quote though!

Geordie actually specifically thanked me for my help in this game - this was taped on the first day after the Christmas recording break of course, and in that time he posted at the Bar, I provided him with some of the important odds, and the rest was history.

Terrible Banker play indeed as James said. He thoroughly deserved to be beaten, he was, and the "I screwed you!" remark inspired the name of the now-defunct website run by Dave from two weeks of TV time earlier!
