I don't buy the he would have swapped either. I would do exactly the same in a hyper swap scenario as it gives him a small get out. Had it been the £250k he can take comfort from it not being on the table or in the case of what happened he takes comfort from giving the big money away.

Ann didn't get an "extra" offer so would have Max if he was still in live play...

It would've been interesting to see what Max would've done at the £180,000, I never in my life thought that Sara's record of the highest offer of all time would ever be beaten!

Still, £30k is a great win none the less, so enjoy the money, Max! :smt023

Come to think about it, Max's game was spookily similar to Sara's in several ways - he had the top 3 at 8-box and 2 mid reds as a backup, he dealt around the same amount as Sara (albeit £1,000 less), his 5-box offer was £55,000, as was Sara's, he missed out on the dream finish, would've had £100k on the table (if the hypo swap counts), AND missed out on what would've been the all time highest offer, but this time broke Sara's record for it!

Max's game basically WAS Sara's game with a couple of extra gimmicks thrown in really!

Understandable deal, horribly unlucky proveout. Hopefully he won't have too many regrets. :smt023

£30k at 8-box may have been cautious, but hitting any of the top 3 in the next round would have made the board very fragile, and the deal certainly didn't deserve that proveout. At least the swap and box 23 took the edge off a bit.

The production team were probably a bit relieved not to have a second £250k win so soon after the last one! :laughing

The consensus seems to be that Max is an idiot, so I’ll gladly agree with that after reading this thread.

Well done, people. Nice for us to all agree about something for a change.

This is the hilarious irony of such a game, and such a forum - if it pays off, they're great, if it doesn't, they're an idiot. Take Ann. What was it, 50p, £64,000 or £250,000? Turning down £64,000? Even coming out on the right side with the quarter-million doesn't deserve applause in that scenario, come on. Come on! It's wonderful that she was lucky, but in every sense, the decision was as questionable as they come.

Max? What does it matter, he's got £30,000. The hypo stuff doesn't matter at all, because he didn't make a mistake in saying 'Deal'. It was what he was going to do. £180,000 wasn't going to happen, at all. None of what 'would have happened' actually 'would have happened', because his decision was 'deal'. Playing hypothetically, for me, has two purposes - entertaining the viewer, and because it's interesting to find out anyway - but really, no more.

Sod all the pedantry about this game (I'm glad to be saying that, at long last). Well, don't sod it if you enjoy it, but I will, because I don't any more. November's coming up. We've killed millions of innocent people in the last decade who hadn't hurt a fly in their lives, and we worship it as 'heroism'. I'd like to see their memorial days, silences and respect. When you remember things like that, game show happenings pale into the distance, in terms of actual importance.

Like Tom Hanks and his football on that island in 'Cast Away', it looks like it's just me and the bots here now. But that's alright, we're having a grand old time. Aren't we, Wilson? WILSOOOON?!

A few of us who were once part of the furniture, once stalwarts of the grand and extravagant, exuberant and thriving forum, have receded back into the walls, still faintly visible, still here as poignant, reminding relics of an era gone by; but most of us have vanished, forever immersed in the mists of time.
