Gaz's boyfriend is scared he'll hit the £100,000. Gaz says he was quite confident about his box before the show, and so were Sunny and Wendy. The Banker quotes a chance of just under 40% of the £100,000 going, and it going would be game over.

Gaz says:

NO DEAL

That is much better, says Gaz. Curses, says the Banker! He hates that happening!

Banker's offer:

£4,200

Gaz is still a little bit confident in the box, but he in unsure on whether he wants to take another risk. Gaz's boyfriend is really worried about him hitting the £100,000. Sue says it's a risky one, and the odds are he'll hit at least one of the reds. Shona says there is no safety net, and it depends how well he'd take winning a blue. Linah thinks it's worth another round, as does Pip, but it whether Gaz wants to risk it.

Gaz says:

DEAL

The Banker says he can't get anything right at the moment!

Banker's offer would've been:

£700

Gaz is happy with that. :smt023

A bankers spanking. The banker should have offered him a little more but Gaz takes home £4,200. :D

Good result, that, even if the offer could've been fairer on the player. :smt023

A VERY cautious Deal today, but at least Gaz didn't win a blue. :unsure

Tricky 5-box. It all depends on whether you can afford to gamble £4,200 on a game where you have a 60% chance of disaster but 40% chance of getting at least 4 times your last offer.

Just thankful he managed to get rid of the £100k before 2-box.

If you are looking strictly at the mean, fair deal, and benchmark figures, this deal comes off as cautious indeed. But those figures are only a small part of what makes up Deal or No Deal. Bear in mind the following things:
  • He just took what felt like a massive gamble on what was already a one box game at 8-box, and so £4,200 can be looked upon as the just reward.
  • Each round prior to the fifth one involved large sums of money going. Despite the knowledge that previous rounds bear no indication of what will happen in the next round, it still has a massive psychological impact.
  • Regardless of the scale of the offer, the following figures remain the same: A 60% chance of taking out the £100,000 in the next round. A 60% chance that a blue was brought to the table. An 80% chance of having less than £4,200 in the box (though I will concede £3,000 is fairly close to £4,200).
Honestly, to label his decision as "VERY cautious" is VERY foolish, because you can't look me in the eyes and tell me you aren't by any means a gambler when you stand a 60% chance of the offer crashing and 60% chance of a blue in the box by saying "No Deal" to £4,200.

Well that may not be the biggest spanking of all time but it's really the smallest either.
I can understand why people would argue in favour of going on at 5 box but at the same time i don't think you can just dismiss a 5 box offer that's higher than 80% of the board. I think Gaz did well to avoid a complete disaster there
