It could be argued that when the Banker is in the mood for punishing bad rounds with terrible offers, taking half-decent money on risky boards is the right tactic.

Another bad games for OHO's but that 5-box offer means it's basically a bad game for anyone but the very cautious.

Box 21 with Paddy contains the £50.

Table thumping all round! Beverley says this is the highest win she's seen while she's been on the show! Noel says the big money did not come to the table again, but Beverley still got good money.

We've seen some unlikely escapes from crashes this summer, but that's the most wonderful of the lot!

The sort of game we'd probably appreciate more in another era, but which still could be the early Show of the Month front runner.

Excellent result and well overdue! I don't know what the stats are but despite what Noel said at the end it would seem that in general terms 26K deals work better for the player than the banker! :o

Great, another cautious Deal vindicated.

At this point, there may not be another Power 5 win this year. :( :x

If DOND doesn't improve by August, I might have to switch to Tipping Point as that seems more exciting at the moment.

I'm failing to see how that game wasn't exciting!?

Well, it was in the studio anyway.

Why bother hanging about, you seem to hate it so much you should go now, I'm sure they've got a forum you can whinge on.

Good game today, I was dubious about the deal biut lovely it worked out for her.

Ah yes, yet another deal with everyone immediately jumping on the "OMG WTF WHY DID SHE DEAL THAT OFFER WAS CRAP" boat, ending up epically vindicated, to the eyerolls of people who still feel that was the wrong decision.

I am very happy with today's game and give Beverley two thumbs up for her OPW. :smt023 :smt023

Well, I feel that in the circumstances, it was the wrong decision on a statistical plane.

Personally - heck, can I understand why you'd deal £26,000! Moses alive, I'd deal that in an instant....if the board were slightly weaker than it was.
And it doesn't take much for me to vacate the hotseat thesedays, but £26,000 here wasn't enough in my eyes. I wouldn't have made the decision Beverley did in that scenario - such is the difference in opinions, "tipping points" in ACB language, utility curves in KP lingo, etc, etc among members here that amazingly, we do all do slightly different things slightly differently! :P

By consequence, her decision was proven correct for the game, because of course, the game then capsized spectacularly. That's when you look at the entirety of the game, you can say on that level it was the perfect decision at the perfect time, end of conversation.
But looking at the circumstances in which it was made - that is to say, only the board at that time, and so on - it was quite a poor decision, end of conversation.

Except however you look at it, it's never end of conversation because it's forever open to speculation and conversation regardless of anything. Which is - when it's healthy and not petty or immature - what keeps this place going, I feel. :smt023

The deal at 26k wasn't that cautious - it is a life-changing sum of money, after all, even if the board deserved more than that.

Also, for all that 6k seems horribly deflated, it is worth noting that the banker has made a similar offer on a similar board in live-play before - in Marysia's game five years ago she was offered £6.6k on a 3 blues/35k/100k 5-box (and dealt!)
