ROUND 4

Box 7 (newbie Lyn) - £3,000
That's one of the two safe reds.

Box 13 (Ahmed) - £5
That went down well. Chants are on again. "One to go for a really powerful 8-box," Noel suggests.

Pace has ratcheted up!
Box 10 (Zoe) - £50,000

Banker time

Same offer again would be very good of the £50,000 going.

Noel mentions the significance of the way the block has been broken up. He even hints that it might be time to Deal, though adds quickly it is dependent on the offer!

Banker's offer:

£8,250

£8,250 isn't bad. Not sure what I'd do here.

That's a good offer for the board. Not sure what I'd do here.

The Banker said he'd take it himself, and Leo's reaction was "Wow!".

Becky advises giving this serious thought. Adam says it's very smart, and then gives generic advice. Tom points out a £20k/two blues round would send the offer up. Waraporn's advice is simple: "Leo, take the money." Gaz says Leo tends to offer advice to play one more round, and thinks that's reasonable here. Giuseppe, from another country where players always go one more round and then some, follows that up. But Leo's wife suggests a Deal.

It is immediately emphasised by someone on the wings it's Leo's game. It's his decision...

...and his decision is to DEAL.

Was slightly worth another round.

Hopefully his wife didn't interfere with his decision.

"Don't change your expression. Hold your expression." Noel talks about the contrast between his wife's opinion and Leo's inclination to go on as he calls the break...

We're back, and it's proveout time for the final part of today's game.

Noel recaps the game, and says Leo "caved in" to his wife!

ROUND 5 - proveout round 1

Box 5 (Louise) - £750

Noel thinks £75k has to go.

Box 20 (Giuseppe) - 10p
Noel's Wakey side starts to come out. He has already declared Leo's made a mistake.

Box 22 (Gaz) - £1,000
OK, there we go.

Banker time...

He probably would have dealt here if he was still in live play.

No banker spanking for Leo then.

"I'm sorry, Noel, you've made a big mistake. That's my view." Thanks for admitting it.

Banker says he loves his wife more than Leo!

Banker's offer would've been:

£18,000

That seems about right if the offer would have really been that.

"And - it could get a lot worse." There's a painful degree of schadenfreude in this proveout.

ROUND 6 - proveout round 2

Box 8 (Myyles) - £35,000
That's one.

Box 2 (Tom) - £75,000
That's the big one! Cue the chanting!

Now the "one mistake" line comes out, and Noel is reduced to emphasising the difference between the 8- and 5-box offers.

Box 19 (Lynda) - £1

£50 / £20,000 climax.

Banker's offer would've been:

£5,000

Which makes sense given he mentioned that sum before.

Noel says Leo's appreciation for money will make him take a £20k reveal badly...

Box 17 is opened to reveal £20,000.

Oh dear. Shame that perfectly sensible deal didn't work out. But he did better than his namesake from last January did. Well done Leo! :smt023

He asks his wife about how he feels. She feels bad. He says he wants to ensure that 35 years turns into 36!

He'll buy a house for his father-in-law, another for another member of the family, and the double glazing will wait. He will get Leo wax earplugs instead! :D

Ugh. More failure. That seems to be a recurring pattern in recent games. A contestant takes a decent offer on a precarious board, proceeds to eliminate all the remaining reds except one, and that last red ends up in their box. You want them to go for it, but there's a high risk of winning a blue if that happens.

We need a true OPW so badly now, it's not even funny.

We had a run of four OPWs in five games not that long ago. :smt023
