Really? If he says "No Deal"? Wow. I'd never have seen that coming...

Like Tom Hanks and his football on that island in 'Cast Away', it looks like it's just me and the bots here now. But that's alright, we're having a grand old time. Aren't we, Wilson? WILSOOOON?!

A few of us who were once part of the furniture, once stalwarts of the grand and extravagant, exuberant and thriving forum, have receded back into the walls, still faintly visible, still here as poignant, reminding relics of an era gone by; but most of us have vanished, forever immersed in the mists of time.

It was the sort of round that usually happens in the prove-out when the player has dealt for a pittance.

A game isnt over until over until the last box is opened

Even if he wins £10,000... it's like... WOW WHAT A TURNAROUND. So I guess he wins in Mad Mark's books.

Actually... that post didn't make sense at all... :ponder:

Steve says he couldn't take any more!

Noel reveals £20,000 in Steve's Box 10.

Box 7 with Jean contains the £10,000.

Noel says it was a truly remarkable game. Steve says is a huge amount of money for him and his family! :D

And...he HAS manufactured something out of the game! (Don't know if he had £10k or £20k yet as I write this, though).

£10k or £20k will make no difference though, this...this, people, is how to recover from a pathetic start and make something out of your game.

Well done and enjoy the £15,000, Steve... :D

Oh dang..

Was worth going for, even if the offer was split in the middle of the two amounts... your still guaranteed two £5,000's... going to lose one or gain another one.

F**k it. It's an OPW. I don't bloody care if I'm wrong.
And yes, Mr. Skyline, that, to me, makes Steve a winner.

Same. To me it's at least an honourary OPW. At the very least. Our definitions are far too strict anyway.

They really are, Dan. I say that if you're able to recover from oblivion like that, you get an automatic OPW. But the evil purists and stats people will never agree with that, I'm afraid.

Rarely if ever has an OBW felt less like one. Wow.

Perhaps we need a definition for taking the best offer but having more in the box

Well, I consider myself a purist - but even so, I cannot see how this is an OBW.

At all. It's an absolute crime.

If this counts as an OBW...I am going to independently refine our standards. Because that's exactly, exactly what they need.

I came up with one a while ago that didn't catch on - LBD (Least Bad Deal).

^^you're not very good with words, are you ? Neither are you any good at logic.

Anyway, with Mark's violently frustrating 'obvious' remarks littering the thread aside, I was actually quite drawn in to this commentary. One of the all-time turnaround games.

Oh, and off the top of my head, Rob and Helen (Dec 2005), Ottis (Sep 2006) and Adie (Nov 2008) are the only other players to wipe out the Power 5 by 14-box. Odds are 1 in 470 of doing this.

Not sure that's quite the right description but cant think of anything catchy right now.

TBO (took best offer) perhaps

I personally like them both, and like that final offer, it'd be hard to choose.
We could start up a poll about it, if you wish. It's possible to do that kind of thing here.

I think that sounds good actually...better than LBD.

Don't think we've seen a turnaround like that since Sarah's game. It really did feel like a blue win would be inevitable there but somehow Steve ended up with a strong finish.

Anything less than the average would have been a definite no deal for me there, but the actual average - well you've got to respect that haven't you?
