I had a feeling the Banker was telling the truth. Hope not another 1p member in the club...

Noel says that's ironic, considering what Paul said a few minutes ago. The banker says he doesn't care that he's permanently on the naughty list.

Banker's offer:

40p

The banker rings and thanks Charlton, because he's never crushed a man as much as he's crushed him!

Charlton wins £5 from his box 3.

We can't have a feel-bad game on Christmas Eve so let's give him a 50/50 chance of £5k.

Box 6 with Sarah contains the 1p

Charlton says he's absolutely gutted, and he'll have to work a bit harder now to pay off his uni fees.

The banker rings and says he's unhappy as he wanted a 1p win today, and the swap wasn't offered when it should've been, as the swap is guaranteed when the banker looks in the player's box. To make up for it, the banker says Charlton can have a go at winning the contents of one of the boxes under the Christmas tree. One box contains £5,000 and the other contains his pair of pants! If Charlton wins £5,000, he'll also give Ioannis the Florida holiday.

Charlton chooses the GOLD box and Noel opens it to reveal £5,000 :D

The green box contains the banker's pants.

Charlton's total win is £5,005 and Ioannis gets the holiday to Florida. :D

Now that's a great ending! :D

Isn't that technically an OPW too?

Well, Charlton deserves every penny of that £5,005 after all those horrible rounds he had. Highest offer was £4k so that is actually a SPANKING! :D

I don't really know what I think of that. I'm happy for Charlton and Ioannis obviously but it makes a mockery of those who have had an all-bankers power 5 last pair when the swap is irrelevant! Are we supposed to believe that if he'd been allowed the swap to join the barge they wouldn't have done that? :?

It was probably a deliberate faux-pas thought up between Noel and the banker/producer. ;-)

Like I said, worth taking the risk at 5 box on Christmas Eve.

(I actually knew he was going to get the twist at the end due to a slight refilm Noel did a couple of days later) but you didn't really need to have that kind of knowledge to guess they might engineer a feelgood ending.

Noel normally mentions that the player gets the swap (if the banker looks in the box) when he explains the rules of the twist. Strangely, I don't think he's mentioned that at all this week while explaining the rules.

I don't think it is a spanking actually - technically all the boxes were opened before they stuck the extra twist in so the banker won the actual GAME (it's similar to PJ winning the £15k in the viewers competition I think).

God why am I so miserable? :)

This is just my opinion (I don't know whether David will count the £5k in this week's winnings) but for me, the classification of games only goes on things that happen before the final box is opened.

Ooh do tell more about the refilm, that sounds intriguing!

BTW did 1p Hollie get anything for a bonus or was that seen as legit becuase she swapped away a red to win it? Or the woman who was a Christmas Star and won 1p (sorry I've forgotten her name but she was Asian)?

Seeing as it was 4:49 when £5 was revealed in his box, I knew we were in for some kind of gimmick.

Also, I think Deal-Eye would've taken £1k at 5-box as that offer was 91% of the mean! :o

Hollie had already won a holiday in the Santa/Scrooge twist, while the Christmas Star players (like Marianne) got a few bonus prizes anyway I think.

Well, I think Hollie got the holiday she got for finding 'Santa' increased to two weeks in consolation. And I think Marianne got some gifts anyway, as all the Christmas Stars got some extras afterwards, I think.
