Interesting that the banker's birthday week should come up in conversation here as that's being shown again in the more4 early morning slot this week! Suzanne's game will be shown on Thursday if anyone's interested. Anyone watching both might find themselves forgetting what the studio looks like in a normal week...

I was out while today's show was on but will have a watch later. Reading through the commentary, the board reminded me vaguely of Bev's game from June 2008 - and she also dealt at £13,013! While the proveout offers were inflated, I guess one saving grace was that Jess managed to do some damage to the board in each round so they were never going to soar.

I liked Jess. I think she was a great asset on the wings with some sound advice and somehow she still contrived to look gorgeous even under the monster make-up, that's quite an achievement.

It takes a lot of courage to deal the third offer, especially with the added incentive of a 5 box twist but you could see how much the money meant to her and that's what matters. Maybe the proveout offers were inflated - though there are instances where the Banker's defied damage to still go up in live play, and the leap of £10k between the first two offers was in itself unusual - but to be honest the sums involved weren't big enough for it to be a big issue for me. The only shame here is that Jess didn't find the £250k a lot sooner, preferably in the first proveout.

What I'm wondering is, when was the last time we had a spanking from the third offer?

She'd possibly have won a blue if she'd played on, thinking about it - she'd have got £NO_DEAL at eight-box after taking out £100k, and if she'd taken the two-shot route (and Noel would have encouraged it in a one-box game) she'd almost certainly have had the Banker seeing the blue in her box and offer £NO_DEAL again. At best, she'd have gone with four shots, and dealt an offer slightly higher than the one she actually took...

Last 11-box Deal for an OPW? Sharon, May 7, 2010. We have not had an 11-box OPW aired since David Cameron entered 10 Downing Street (Sharon's game was the day after the election, but it would be five days before the coalition agreement).

Those are the stats that the producers would not care to be remembered. If we suddenly had a run of rationally minded players like jess who dealt at 11box it would throw their carefully stage managed routine and what would all the goading players on the wings such as Bill do with themselves. I can imagine him in solitary confinement telling himself over and over again 'feint heart n'er won fair lady' and drooling like a loony. God I'm looking forward to his game!

Take 2 with the goading, urging her to blow £1000 on a catapult gamble that we've seen 1 win in 60? I'm surprised she wasted £250 on it and thankfully she came to her senses after 1 miss. That challenge reminds me of the rigged games you can see on piers and seafronts across the world - throw 2 hoops over vertical rods to win £1000 cash. Actually scratch that, it would have been hilarious to see a less intelligent player blow £6000 worth of throws with the wings and Noel looking more and more uncomfortable with each missed shot. The icing on the cake would be to find the monetary worth of the icelolly holiday was circa £1800.

It was probably only the near 10 minutes worth of talk and hijinks associated with the catapult that 'saved' the running order of the show today. Imagine if Jess had played on the live shows and been so resolutely sure to deal at 11box. It would have left Noel holding his d*ck for near 18 minutes with the producers going to plan C to stop the viewers switching off. A sensible slice of the cake deal for her and she would have gone to pieces if she had retained the £100k until the 2 box.

Was very surprised at her deal, even though it was a good offer. Especially since nearly all players go to at least 5-box in themed weeks.

I would have dealt £22,500 at 5-box, which was definitely inflated.

So did you think this game was a farce, too? ;)
