£94k for a £250k/£10k finish. Makes Sobia's offer seem bad.

Round 6 - Proveout round

22 - 10p Andy

Wow says Noel, that would have been the perfect start.

2 - £35,000 Dave

The Banker calls and says that would have been offering £4,000 if the next box is the £250,000, but £94,000 if Ian found the £500 next.

14 - £500 Dale

Banker time with £10,000 and £250,000 remaining

Oh no, that is unbelievable, incredible says Noel.

Banker's offer would've been:

£94,000

oops

Would my 2nd offer £18k deal be a record there then? :)

Shut up Noel. We aren't all on huge salaries like yourself. Of course people want £250k. But we're not all rich enough to gamble £28k.

Absolutely incredible says Noel, 2 games in 2011 could have produced a jackpot win and yet we can find no one who wants to go on and win it.

Box 18 with Grace contains the £10,000

Ian apologises that he couldn't go on and win the £250,000 as there are contestants on the wings who could have won the jackpot today.

Well most people would have dealt at 5-box for £35k (including me) so I'm not actually that bothered about that. He seems happy enough with the money he has won anyway!!

I can predict this thread is going to go on for about 6 more pages though and you may as well cut and paste what was said in Sobia's thread!! :)

Ohhh not again another person not brave enough,,, but I suppose with the current economic situation, people are taking the safer bet as it is, forgetting it could be their chance to have the big ones.

If only Sabia has got offered £94k on Thursday but then Ian got a more generous set of offers throughout his game.

To win £250k today would have taken 2 very brave gambles. Yes, we've had a run of big numbers brought to the table but it's going to happen every so often.

Well, what have we learned from this game? That eight-box is still the acceptable deal point for now, but that the two-round proveouts are being presented just as the three-round proveouts used to be, with Noel showing the gleefully judgmental temprament of a preacher in rural America, and only slightly more tolerance for people being able to act as they would wish. That the Banker can make a difference on a big decision with an extra phone call or two, and is also still very keen to pre-empt a proveout guilt trip by making mid-round hypothetical lies. And that Ian has left the game with more money than 90% of the 1,500+ preceding players.

It will be very interesting to see if, in the not-too-distant future, five-box becomes the ADP on the 65-minute format. If ever a game could have been constructed to create the foundations for such a negative change, this is that game. I fear for this show.

Well, this is going fantastic for 2011, isn't it?

Whatever happened to the glory days of wanting the thrill and the excitement of letting courage decide the outcome?

It's very difficult to get OPW's with big money on the table, non-joke offers and dangerous boards. I'll give you Marilyn and Sobia's games as possible power 5 wins but there were 3 other games where there was a big gamble involved to win the power 5 amount.

My problem with all this is - I think it is customary for the player in live play, if the 250k is left, to be offered the swap. I don't think he was asked whether he would have swapped or not so it might have been that he would not have actually won the 250k had he carried on.

It could be that if the player is asked and refuses the swap then it might be edited out. He didn't mention any lucky numbers during the game.

Just a shame he didn't find that £10k before two box as then it probably would have been Bankers Gamble.
