Does every single player have a Power 5 amount the day before they play? Or is it just Mark's posts making me think that?
Nobody has done a complete 1-22 before. Pat might have been best served 'doing a Dermot' it seems. No nonsense, No Deal.
Crikey, she really should have done a Dermot. Top comedy though, and a decent offer too. Expect one more following that theme, then round offers from the ADP to imply "this is serious now".
Decent third round... yup, thematic comedy offer... she has a £30k shopping list, and that's the two-box offer on a £100k-high finish sorted. On we go.
A blue here will mean she has a 37.5% chance of winning less than £1,000 if she ignores the offers. A red increases that chance to 50%. We get a blue. The producer effectively confirms the two-box offer, and continues the offer theme. Sends a signal that the offers are a bit silly, even though they're not - like Simon, I'm probably done at this point.
"Noel asks if he could do a little health check... you can easily get swept along and play to the end without a lot of thought." Ever thought why, Noel? Pot, kettle, black. Anyway, the producer takes his cue, and makes a round offer. "It's OK to Deal now" is the message being sent to Pat. She promptly Deals. Funny that. So promptly, in fact, that Kestral got confused. Not often that happens!
The actual target was £25,000. Too many players chase their target blindly, and don't realise that if they're just short of their target on a risky board, it's usually time to Deal, because the utility of winning much more is limited. £50k/blue finish, the option to take the box... forgetaboutit. OPW!
I don't think Noel has so much to do with the Deal, nor necessarily even a target; the round offer at five-box sent the message that this offer was to be taken seriously, and sure enough, it was. Doesn't mean I don't warmly approve of Noel today.
